2010 has been a historic year for Kenya, from the enactment of a new constitution to the start of the ICC process, where the prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo has named six individuals he suspects to have been the chief architects of the violence that rocked the country, in the aftermath of a disputed presidential election in 2007. Now one man has dominated the news headlines this year for all the wrong reasons; -- from allegations of corruption, to suspension as higher education minister, to the international criminal court process where he is under investigation for crimes against humanity. William Samoei Arap Ruto is a man under siege. Our senior reporter Evelyn Wambui spent days with Ruto and his family just before the ICC prosecutor named him as one of the six suspects he wants tried for crimes against humanity. Evelyn kicks off the newsmakers' series with the story of a man who appears to be fighting the whole world, literally.

The dude is doing good. The only problem I have is the catalog of the capital source. If it were a clean source multiplied to the current level through honesty and hard work, I could have called to complement his 'efforts'.

I like & support Ruto in many ways but I find it hard supportin him when he looks scared in the face of trouble n starts blaming other pple. We all know for example that he is innocent or rather guilty like all Kenyans on the issue of PEV. The country wnt to chaos because of those who stole the results n no one can accuse Ruto of being responsible. We all hated n contributed to the chaos. Stay focused Bwana Ruto, more so maintain your faith principles n also keep fighting for da poor.

The other problem Bwana Ruto is that you want to ascend to power to kind of revenge. This power thing is not a generation change, its about change from bad to good. In your opinion people like Mandela, etc should not have been president. This power thing should be about a conviction to change things for the better for the havenots. That's why we emulate, Githongo, Gitobu Imanyara, etc. Fight for the poor and stop tryng to form tribal alliances instead form alliances with good people please.

I thought the man (Ruto) was a Hague material like Charles Taylor ,after watching this (not the posh living ,range rover ,houses ,farms and etc) the way he talks is enough to create many enemies!! The man is a leader and I think he will be a good one if given the chance by Kenyans!! Anyway he comes from a tribe that disqualifies him to be a leader after what Moi did, but would have voted for him rather than Uhuru!!

@markwetin R U sure when U say that all Kales will do what they know best, to ensure Ruto ascends to state hse? what happened in 2002? all Kales voted Uhuru. The same happened in 2007, they voted Raila but he didn't make it. So to help you my brother, we admire Ruto but lets all work together & talk about real change for the poor. Power is not about revenge. Raila can go & sell Mandasi but what about the poor Kenyans? We musn't forget the IDPs, that's why Ocampo must do his job freely.
