i still like the oldschool 2strokes the engine i like the best is the 1970-1980 mercurys they r cold blooded as hell but the smell when they fire up omg nothing can replace that smell i love it idk y but its just the best part of goin to the lake
I have a 2 stroke 150 pro v on my 88 stratos. Tends to flood very easy and has a lot of trouble going into gear but once you get her going she's a beauty
I love how people are downing Yamaha and screaming go Mercury. I mean I love Mercury, in my opinion there is no better outboards made, but Yamaha and mercury partnered to produce their lineups of 4-strokes and they are both incredibly similar. If you like one, you'll likely enjoy the other.
I'm a fan of both. I don't think one is better then the other, they are pretty much exactly the same across the board. Great job Yamaha and Great job Mercury!
etec 250 ho and the opti pro xs 250 are also bigger engines than a regular 250. It's the sticker. but putting the sho against the etec 250 and the opti 250 will be more comparable.
@nitrocdx24 and i just looked it up. both the pro xs and the sho weigh 505lbs. same weight. the sho is more powerful, more acceleration, more top end, since its a 4 stroke more reliable, and better fuel milage too.
think about it 25 years ago in america a lot of boat motor manufacturers started to make 4 stroke boat motors because of one reason and that is because it was the cheapest way to make a motor that would meet the epa standard and for no other reason and today with the new fuel injected 2 strokes there is no reason for there to even be a 4 stroke boat motor other than the fact that boat motor makers are making a living on servicing those much more expensive 4 strokes over the life of owning it
@nitrocdx24 dude its common sense that mercurys arent as reliable as a yamaha. and yess before the sho came out the mercs were faster and more fuel efficient but now we got the sho's there is nothing that compares.
Lol the guys all sound like they have synthesised voices. Best just to show the engines getting used, how they sound, and what they deliver and get rid of all the rubbish acting. Very nice motor, although a tad too powerful for my 16ft'er! :-)
@nitrocdx24 they are great fishing boats yes. but not nearly the best. nitros decks arent bigger than anyone elses. and yes some rangers cant top 70. but i personnally have been on an 18 foot ranger with a 175 vmax at 74. hard to top that for an 18 footer. personnally i believe skeeters are the best all around, of course bass cats and phoneix and legends are good too they just arent available around here in ky.
@nitrocdx24 bullets, allisons, norris craft, strokers, gamblers/"sterlings" are all together with being fast as hell but get blown around alot, not very good fishability. skeeters, phoenix, legend, basscats are all together in the second tier of faster boats. stratos and pro craft are about the same, great fishabillity just not a front tunner in speed. rangers nitros and tritons are the slowers particularly nitros and tritons. nitros hull is weak as hell kvd's is reinforced, custom not standard
get ready: 4:52 minutes before engine starts... And sweet jap mechanics stay in the shop while fato tells the other: I don't know what you did but it sounds blbabla.
Bullets are not the fastest bass boats allison is the fastest then stroker then bullet. Basscats gamblers and phoenix boats will all out perform a comparable skeeter. Skeeters are great boats but run in the middle of the pack.
you couldnt of said it any better i own a stroker and allisons are faster but there not as stable and fishable as a stroker but finally someone knows what there talking about. some allison models are not as fast but most of them are
I have a stroker and it doesn't cat walk at 100+ mph I can't speak for a Allison cause I've never owned one...... Strokers have a 94 1/2 inch beam very good fishing boats and handles awesome
A big engine doesn't go fast unless it hits the water RIGHT? The companies pay geeky IT punks to run the simulators. Those dudes or chicks don't fish unless it's on the Weee. So.., how do you create an algorithm (math) problem to correlate engine sales with catching a single fish at a Tounament? hmm.. If you can figure that one out you leave a zillionaire!. But.. the reality is fisherman need to catch real fish. BUT IS IT ALL A BIG FRIGGIN DRAG RACE! C'mon people.. Anyone read the tortoise and the hare! . Put that on a simulator will ya and see who wins!.. Well.. The point is It doesn't matter how big and powerful your tool is, it only matters if it works when it really counts..
@nitrocdx24 rangers are faster than tritons. bullets are fastes because for one they are the worst bass boats for actually fishing, the hull sticks outta the water so much they get blown around. next would be gamblers or sterlings which have the same problem. skeeters are the 4th fastest but they actually fish great. then would be phoenix, then stratos, pro craft, ranger, triton, and finally nitro. tritons chinewalk horribly so they cant get to the top end.
I'd rather fish out of a GAMBLER I paid for than a FREE Ranger.AWESOME ride & fishability from a GAMBLER.Ranger is highly overrated & highly over priced. Skeeter is a great boat but they don't ride anywhere near as good as a GAMBLER.
Yamaha has a four stroke up against a two stroke, so out of the holeshot, yea evinrude wins but evinrude sucks so bad they can't make four stroke, put a four stroke evinrude( which they don't have) up against Yamaha and Yamaha will smoke it in a race.
+jordan Bartholomew That's the point though, it's a two stroke that's more powerful than a four stroke. Why should they make a four stroke when their two strokes already crush everything? Evinrude can travel faster than Yamaha and mercury, Evinrude is more fuel efficient, Evinrude puts power every stroke instead of every other stroke.
