How about 2011 bmw x3 35i with 120000 miles on it. In terms of the engine and transmission , is it ok if I will buy for this time? Hopefully for your reply soon. How much you spent on this replacement?
Did you have any problems with the one valve cover bolt in the back left corner or will a simple universal do the trick ? What torque did you use when putting the new cover on. Thanks
The cover has multiple valves built into the plastic that degrade over time and can cause the engine to run poorly which is what I was experiencing. Turns out replacing the valve cover didn’t do much for my rough/surging idle, that was solved by replacing the injectors. If interested I created a video for that process. The engine now runs very well and improved power. I’m glad I changed the valve cover though, was probably going to need replacing sooner or later.
I purchased my valve cover from Rock Auto. ÜRO PARTS 11127570292 Valve Cover $ 235. Arrived in good condition. I had to swap over some hardware from original cover.
Ballston DIY hello, I just purchased a 2011 X5 35i and have a feeling I’m going to be doing this job in the next few days. I just wanted to ask, you have to replace the whole valve cover, you can’t just replace the gaskets? Thanks
@@gilgonzalez5902 I did not find a place that specified but followed another RU-vid site FCPEuro I believe and they used 8 NM. I have done the job and it’s doing very well. I even took it to a BMW mechanic and they said job well done. I took it because after reconnecting the battery I had an CEL. They ran the codes and it was a misfire in cylinder 5. I even changed the coils to new. Drove the car for a few days and the light extinguished on its own. No more leaks and no more CEL! This video helped a lot!
