I think these gents were WAY too hard on Sandra Izbasa. The tumbling was powerful and clean, and I'll forgive a girl of her height for bending her knees a bit to avoid losing 0.5 for landing out of bounds. And her music choice, choreography, and presentation were stunning! I think this title was well-deserved.

romania first and second place i'm lovin it! the only bad things in this video are the commentators.

The commentators are very impolite to talk like this against Izbasa. Of course her 2008 Gold medal is well deserved (Highest difficulty , sticking all the landings, nice music and flow). And they talk about discrediting the full twist forward and downgrading it to a tuck full in this routine, seriously are we watching the same performance? (You may deduct a bit for the bend knee but that is definitely a layout)

These commentators have no idea what theyre talking about... speaking on sandra's floor exercise and saying she spends too long in the corners: absolute rubbish. That her floor routine was the best in the world at the olympics in 2009: rubbish as the olympics were in 2008 and they dont seem to appreciate that difficulty comes with more deductions generally, hence why you get the extra points for difficulty. Usually British commentators (BBC) are very good, these guys however are just ignorant.

I agree, the BBC commentators are far better than these - so much more optimistic and positive about the gymnasts. I mean, the skills they perform are phenomenal and should be praised no matter what. Matt Baker is the best (:

I think these commentators are Mustafina's fans. You can tell they were not impressed because Mustafina wasnt here.

toeltfan hopefully someone has answered you since you asked a year ago, but in case it is still a mystery to you: acrobatic skills include saltos (back handsprings, front tucks, triple twists, double doubles) while the "artistic" (unusual word choice, perhaps the commentators confused you) or dance skills include leaps and spins (1/1 split leap, switch leap, stag jump, spin with leg at horizontal, memmel etc.). Sometimes the dance skills are also referred to as the gymnastic skills since they involve stretching, flexibility and balance. Additionally, other elements can be permitted on floor that do not fall into dance or acrobatic elements, but WAG athletes never compete them on floor and now rarely compete them on beam: handstands, holds and pirouettes in handstand, planches etc.

the commentators hate romanians! especially Sandra!!! WTF. and Shawn didnt even deserve a medal in the floor final at the olympics, implying that they wanted her to win!

These must be the most pessimistic and annoying commentators I’ve ever heard. One of them in particular showed so much unnecessary hatred towards Sandra Izbasa.. Commentators should be impartial, or at least respectful

I found the commentators knowledgeable, but incredibly negative! The way they present it, none of the gymnasts deserved a medal!

Tbh I'm not "always convinced by izbasa's routines" either. It seems people love ponor and porgras the most, and for all iordache's injuries, her few glory moments are revered whereas many gym fans dont even mention izbasa when bringing up the Romanian greats. Feels like people forgot she's an olympic champion and I think it can be explained by what these gentleman said here sadly.

9:15 Those commentators talking about Sandra Izbasa maybe didn’t even seen that olympic final. 1st. Was on 2008 not 2009 2nd. Sandra Was flawless in her routine and hit It every time she performs it there. She deserved that gold no doubt about it. They are like the brittish version of Elfie and Tim from USA 😂

hi there! :) could anybody please tell me what exactly the difference between acrobatic and artistic skills is? i hear that sooo often (here 1:35 ) from the commentators and i already googeled, but i couldn't really find a good answer, so thanks in advance :)

Must admit the commentators are rubbish but have to agree with them when they say Izbasa shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt with her routine. She should be judged on what she did, not what she has done in the past.

I can’t believe these commentators. I really can’t. They’re insufferable. Don’t put your personal beliefs on broadcast. Commentate on the routine. Nobody cares if you thought she should’ve medalled in the in fact 2008 Olympics. I say 2008 again. It’s nothing to do with benefit of the doubt, it doesn’t work like that. It really doesn’t. They judge the gymnasts on what they produce on that day. It doesn’t matter who you are. It’s not 1980 anymore. They absolutely caned Isbaza on this routine when she was still amidst her comeback. They seemed to be so pessimistic about her. It’s disgusting that they said they thought she didn’t deserve some of her gold medals. That is nothing to do with them. Comment on the routine at hand and keep your personal opinions to yourself. Julie Crocket was great, fun fully of vim and vitality and I do think she was underscored. But her start value was lower. What do you expect. I think it was rich that they said Tweddle’s routine was good, when it wasn’t. It was full of low landings and staccato choreography. If these commentators think these comments are informative or helpful, they’re not.

Я одна не увидела больше акробатики ни у кого, кроме Ю. Белокобыльской? Вот именно поэтому она для меня была лучшей. У остальных гимнасток вольные никакие. Раз упражнение выполняется под музыку, это должен быть маленький красивый спектакль. Со сложными элементами, разумеется. Вот этого спектакля у семи из восьми участниц я не увидела. А раз не было спектакля раскрывающего замысел, то не было видно и акробатики. Это моё личное мнение, с ним можно соглашаться или не соглашаться, но я увидела так и менять свой взгляд не собираюсь.

I like Beth Tweddle but her taste in floor music is terrible. That music has to be the worst I've ever heard.
