I had a 2012 6 speed model of this, and I got to say its one of the bargain cars of its time. The car was equipped with all the bells and whistle and was still cheaper than a Civic. The only gripe I had with the car was its choppy ride on undulating roads due to its torsion beam rear suspension set up. Other than that, it was a good all round car with a good top speed for a 1.6 sedan. Had to sell it off quick due to its scary depreciation at the time.
I had that car also. Yeah at that time really no contest. And it has rewrite the B C segment sedan especially Japanese brands which kinda kosong specs with similar price back then. I am missing it's superior sound system tho.(Mine was 1st batch with 4 speed transmission.
I still own this car, have to agree with u the sound system is the best (stock). I recently fitted on a new android player and it made the entire car feel much more modern haha.
After more than a decade the design still look evergreen and doesn't feel dull. My dad almost want to buy one but when we think about the reliability and other factors straight away tak jadi beli because our personal experience owned Hyundai and Kia.
My friends 8 years plus ownership of this car doesn't give him any reliability issues. I guess sometimes it could due to luck also. But everybody has their own decision on their own purchase.
Hyundai and kia dulu tak sama langsung dengan yg skrg..kia forte nilah first car yg bukan org korea design dan enjin pun share 3 company beso, mitsubishi..apa ntab lagi tak ingat. Kerrta ni reliable..
I own a unit too with 6AT. Overall, very good quality car with excellent factory stock speaker. The only drawback is the torsion beam rear suspension. But I understand KIA had to use that in order to maintain the production costs so they can sell at that price range when launched.
Planning to buy this but 2.0 version. Currently my dad not really supporting on this decision due to his trust issue with Kia. But i'll convince him more after reading all the comment under here. Will update on what type of car will be pick Edit: Finally bought a car, sadly it was not a Forte😢, my dad choose Vios Ncp 42. I just hope its run good
I know this in an old video but do you remember what the engine speed when cruising at 100-110km/h? Thinking of getting one for long distance driving and I do want a fairly quiet car at that cruising speed.
I remembered when this car was launched my father wanted to buy this car so badly but decided to stick with Kia Spectra until my brother brought the facelifted MD Elantra (the base spec model) 5 yrs ago and sold the Spectra after that. ( just wish my brother would buy the cerato instead of elantra tho but is still a reliable car to drive nonetheless)
@@AnthonyLoh yeah but when compared to yd cerato the interior seems a bit atas than the elantra and cerato has tons of features to offer. fortunately the the facelited elantra got a huge discount and it makes a better buy than the honda city e variant.
Back then it is the glorious moment for Korean cars the KIA Forte and Elantra MD. All the B and C segment Japanese cars that time can say pretty kosong with same pricing.
@@AnthonyLoh and remember at that time the cheapest base myvi don't even have abs which kinda put driver in danger in some situation. All thanks to Kia and Hyundai to throw all the useful feature that everyone can enjoy and their car seems way more reliable than japanese car somehow 😅
Forte consider kereta ruang dalam beast jugak. Kalau boleh dapat 2.0 lebih power sikit kalau bawah family. 1.6 pun ok jugak tapi naik bukit susah sikit. Kereta ini ok problem sikit, maintenance pun tak mahal(c segment).
Transmission is smooth but not lighting quick. It is a torque converter btw. It does the job but not like DCT or ZF gearbox. Good point is it is a reliable gearbox.
@@briandrivecar Hydraulic power steering is more direct and heavy compare to electric power steering. Nowadays is getting less car using hydraulic power steering.
Forte. Forte is a segment a above the polo or vento. It is bigger car hence it's setup is a scale above the lower segment car. No doubt the polo and vento is German engineering cars which has better composure than most of its b segment competitors. You can go test drive feel their differences. Some might find it the opposite way due to personal preference.
Do you think if i trade my 2018 persona with 2.0 forte 2011 is worthy? My persona is in good condition, just need more space for family car. I have new ativa as well. But a bit scare since has bad experience with used car before.. or maybe with 2016 polo sedan? Thanks ya
If it is just space you want and your current car has been doing great. I think you do not need to change the car. As for Forte the interior space might be a bit roomier but it still not revolutionary roomie. If you are looking for more engine power, refinement and better tech then yes.

Hi boss. Saya ni bab2 kereta kurang sikit tapi berminat nak beli model Kia Forte ni. Jadi nak tanya, model keluaran tahun berapa yang ok ? harga roadtax ? harga maintenance mahal tak ? harap dapat menjawab persoalan ni.
Model keluaran 2010 1st batch 4 speed auto. 2011 dan kemudian 6 speed auto. Road tax itu engine cc 1600cc auto 2000cc. Maintenance jugak itu engine cc. 1.6 akan Lebih murah daripada 2.0 dari segi maintenance dan road tax. Harga maintenance ok lebih kurang rm2xx to rm3xx for normal maintenance rm5xx to rm8xx major maintenance. Ini harga buat service kat KIA. Kalau buat kat luar akan murah lagi. I will suggest 2.0sx 6 speed kalau ada budget. Kalau nak jimat sikit 1.6sx 6 speed.
Utk daily use & area town, 1.6 dgn 6AT sudah memadai. Kena faham mana2 kereta yg lebih 10 thn pasti ada part wear & tear & spare part masih byk dijual dgn harga mampu milik. Roadtax 1.6 hanya rm90 setahun, insurance pilihan masing2 ikut budget
maintenance OK. C segment tapi lebih kurang sama dengan B segment kereta baru B segment maintenance. Forte ada banyak kat market. Spare parts sepatut tak susah cari.
During my ownership it average about 8 to 12litre per 100km 50/50 city and highway use. Provided mine was 4 speed auto, it is pretty average on fuel consumption. Not great but not bad either.
