Very excellent tutorial! Wish GM sold kits like this for more vehicles!! I know GM sold an official cruise control kit for the 1st Gen Cruze (and Sonic) but no such kit exists for the 2nd Gen. Obtaining the proper steering wheel with the cruise switches isn't the issue, it's getting that authorization code from GM to add the option to the BCM. 🤬

Thank you so much for the detailed install!! I am unable to find the manual for the OEM online and am installing aftermarket, but your instructions helped tremendously to understand where I could connect 😁

Excellent video one of the best detailed installations I've seen on RU-vid for the Chevrolet Sonic. I like the way you show the parts numbers and diagrams. My Sonic came with fog lights and this should have been a standard feature with all models in the range. My next project is to install a front camera as I installed fixed mirror backup camera with 2x AV inputs on the hatch which was a painstakingly process but, was worth all the effort. Keep it up 👌🏼

$275 for the fog light kit and another $500 for the dealership installation. I’d like to get these fog lights to go in my 2015 Chevy Sonic LT, but that price tag for install is scary. Unfortunately this project is beyond my skill level. Great instructional video by the way! 😃

I was thinking of doing it until I saw the price as well… looks like I’ll be doing it on my own the old school way with a switch added in somewhere and a simple relay system for some autozone special fog lights lol

I need to find a wiring schematic for the switch so I can back probe into the fog wires and wire in my own without going through the BCM… bypass the BCM entirely so I can control the fogs with the switch, but not bother with the access codes and other BS. It won’t have the light in the dash, but not an issue for me. Seams like all I would need is a momentary-switch controller and a relay

GM service manual for the Sonic should have those schematics. There's a day pass you can buy at www.acdelcotds.com where you can access the manual online for this (under Service Information).

Would I need to do all of the online programs? Or could I just hook it up to the fuse box and put the new button in my car?

For the Sonic, GM requires the BCM to be reprogrammed to activate the fog lamp circuit. The junction box cavity for this circuit is program controlled as to whether it receives power. I can't recall if the switch is a module, and thus needs to communicate with the BCM as well or not.

I think GM fucked me. My kit didnt come with that extra paper stapled

Yeah I mentioned if that code's missing exchange/return the whole kit to where you got it as its useless without that code sheet (and each code is unique in GMs Sonic VIN database so you can't share someone elses). If you got the kit direct from a GM dealer, my understanding is they can request this code online using the outside GM barcode sticker on the particular kits box (again each is unique). But if you bought third party, just exchange/return it because the vast majority of dealers wouldn't take the time to do this if you didn't purchase the part from them in the first place.

@@DrShock So irritating. These codes should be something they randomly generate if each VIN absolutely needs a unique number.

@DrShock fast forward to 2022 and my fog lights still aren't programmed. Kit is discontinued and my dealer sucks horse c#%k. I'll ask and see if they can request the code from the barcodes on the box
