That was the simplest, quickest, most straightforward and effortless instructional video compared to the previous 3 I tried to watch and couldn’t follow. Thank you🙏🏼
I find that many of these procedures on RU-vid tend to leave out important information or steps to the process. Here is the complete process that I find works: 1: Power on fully with foot on brake. 2: Scroll Trip through ODO, Trip A and Trip B to get to ODO mileage. You must stop this scrolling when ODO shows. 3: Power OFF with foot on brake 4: Wait for screen to go black - this can take up to a minute to happen - just wait for it! If the screen does not go black before you proceed to the next step, the reset WILL fail! 5: Press the Power Button twice WITHOUT foot on brake. 6: While the blue startup screen shows, press the trip button 3 times and HOLD the trip button down on the 3rd press. Do not wait too long after the you press the Power Button the 2nd time - if the blue startup screen disappears before you start step 5, the reset WILL fail! 7: If you have done everything right to this point, you will see a count down from 55555, 44444, to 00000 and then Maintenance will have been reset. 8: If you believe you have done everything right and it still fails, get out the car and give it a few minutes before you try again. I hope this helps!
Thank you for the step[ by step directions. My screen is fixed! And you're right about RU-vid leaving out important steps of the process. You saved me money and time.
Dude. Great simple video. This worked FIRST TRY after watching countless videos and growing frustration on other Prius years and models. I did this first try on a 2017 Prius C, I just followed your instructions. Set the trip to Odometer, not trip A or trip B. Turned it off. Let screen go black. Note: I do not have a power button, I just turned the key to on, pressed trip 3 times and held it down on the third press, and voila! It did the countdown thing and reset. I did nothing with the brake pedal as some comments below said was required. I rarely leave comments or likes, but you get both. Why Toyota forces people to stare at MAINTENENCE REQUIRED (I know why, money to be made by their service dept.) is beyond annoying, just because I decided to get an oil change somewhere other than the "Dealership." Thanks! 👍👍👍
Thank you! My mechanic couldn’t even figure it out. The manual doesn’t tell you to wait for the screen to go black before turning it back on. Very important step!
It's for the immobilizer system (look it up in your manual), and it's normal. The light flashes after the "Power" button has been turned off to indicate that the system is operating. The immobilizer system is designed to prevent the car from starting if a key hasn't been registered with the car's computer.
