When you take your foot off the pedal or breaking from high speed, the energy is being recycled and used to charge your battery. So your engine won't need to charge your battery with gasoline, so you get more mpg and more powerful from the engine. It does not use battery to power up your speed or boost anything.
Sorry for late response, I think what Cesar says is correct! The 14+ models are better for reliability. 11-13 showed signs of more oil consumption with leaks, also the turbos don’t last as long. Hope this helps
