Tools and Tips for removal of the alternator on a 2012 and later Ford Focus S 2.0L DI. Sticker on passenger side of engine cam cover indicates manufacture date of 14/02/12 (Feb 14, 2012).
Charging had been irregular since I got the car used at 22,000mi, as witnessed by headlight brightness modulating chaotically a few times per second. Finally at 62,000mi. the battery icon came on, and system was not charging (11.8V seen continuously on battery when running). Brushes did not look bad, armature contacts not grooved, diodes were OK. Suspect the internal regulator/brush assembly.
On installation, be careful to make sure the bottom bolts are started squarely to prevent cross threading... the weight of the alternator tries to cock it down unless you support it.
New alternator fixed the problem (steady 15.1V on startup at 45F temp, gradually subsiding with idle RPM after a minute to 14.9V).

Just went through this on a 2016. What a nightmare. If I made the video, there would be a lot of 4 letter words being used. We didn't remove the stud to get it out... just pried it against the rad hose. Wouldn't go back in though. Finally removed the stud and shortened it. Used a double nut to screw it in. Wanted to replace it with a bolt, however Hardware Store was closed.

@@AyyLarry it's exactly that. I could find better ways to waste 6 minutes on RU-vid. This should have been more visually engaging and informative.

When I was removing the alternator and taking off that single wired connector the wire broke off right at the connector. I cant find the part at oriellys, autozone, or any of the ford dealerships. I found it online but it doesn't tell me whether or not it comes with the wire. Since it is crimped inside the connector, I need it to come with a length of wire so that I can splice it. I'm stuck any suggestions?

That didn't help me do the job. Im not sure why you didn't just record yourself doing the job and explaining as you went. Instead you made it very confusing. Im sure if i got past the confusing part maybe i would see what i need to see but theres already way too much info in my brain to go any further with this one. I appreciate the effort though. A+ for that.
