expert here and let me tell you now since i have a proper thread to rant on, hennesy didnt even adjust the hydrolocking dampers to the right SPI adjustment flux. so they are so dumb, and turning the lutrux egixle into a hyper car was a very poor decision, all of the motors cylinders dont even move properly inside the piston sleeves, AND fora car thats supposed to do 270mph it doesnt have enough Nm of downforce last time i checked it only made 800 ft pounds of downforce torque. just a death trap really.

I like Hennessey's design style where he selects parts in a way as to have a large stress tolerance overhead. It means this thing will rarely break down and will continue to operate after decades of use without major repairs/renewal. He even sleeved the cylinders for increased stress tolerance from the extra pressure of the twin turbos.

Deante Haney I totally agree with you, Volkswagen built the Veyron to prove that they were capable of making a car that looks good, drives like no other car and beats every other car, and to top it off they said each Veyron costs 5 million to build and they are selling them for just over 2 million, That's one hell of a loss, Whereas hennessey built this car just to say we built a car that beats the Veyron, They didn't care about outsourcing the design and parts, making the car undriveable at high speeds for the average person who can afford it but has little to none experience driving "Hyper cars", All they really care about is building the car at the cost they are building them for and selling them for absurdly high numbers, Which I bet it doesn't cost half as much to build it.

And that's thing , Bugatti is sales so Veyrons now they actually make a profit, they are expensive but they are absolutely breathtaking. The venom is just a longer faster Lotus Elise . The technology that went into both cars is amazing and I salute Bugatti and Hennesey on that aspect but if it came to it, I would buy this car because I feel I would be happier with the look, interior, and power it offers.

MRFUCKOFF202 you can turn everything off in a LaFerrari and drive it like a go-cart. it has activ aerodynamics, gearbox is faster than the blink of an eye, it has a premium feel and look, the only thing you will miss is the top speed. LaFerrari is still a 350Km/H+ car so i dont think it will be the biggest dissapointment.

Ole Andre Høiland The gearbox is one of those things you can't turn off and I doubt you can turn power steering off. It's always got no clutch pedal and no lever. Active stuff is fine as long as it doesn't dull the experience. Still, I doubt the LaFerrari would give the same raw experience as this car. Premium feel and look is nice but not essential, I like other types of cars that are the exact opposite too like the Dodge Viper. Yeah if there's a LaFerrari I can afford I'll buy it in a heartbeat haha.

John just claims it's a "drivers car" WHICH it is, but he also uses that as an excuse to not include other features which nearly every car over half a million bucks has. and he only produced 6 or 7 I believe to justify the price; people want rare items.

Jason L Why do you think FIA GT1 spec cars cost about $750,000? They don't give a crap about exclusivity and don't use dual-clutch gearboxes, TCS, ABS, electric steering or any of the rest of it. Like the Hennessey, they use top quality parts, a lot of which are bespoke. Those cost a lot of money and development/testing costs a lot of money at this level. Now don't get me wrong, the Veyron almost certainly cost more to develop. It's a more complete car and as you say has more attention to detail. I really think you could use the Veyron for motorway driving no problem, but the Hennessey would be too loud and uncomfortable. But as I said, I think VAG are actually *losing* money on each Veyron and maybe Hennessey are not willing to lose money on it. This is explainable too: VAG makes billions from its vast array of brands and the Veyron promotes those other brands further. Hennessey is a standalone company and has no other sources of income. Therefore, Hennessey has no desire to promote anything else and cannot afford to just lose $250k on each one sold or whatever. Claiming it's a drivers car as an excuse for what? Not being able to put assists into the car? If they can build a car like this, they can sure as hell put assists on it if they wanted to. Even if they couldn't no one has any proof that it's an excuse. It's pure speculation. He may actually want it to be a proper drivers car. And that is fine.

This car could have been made to give the company more exposure. I don't want to discredit what he's done but did they really *build* the vehicle? Corvette engine, turbos, ford gt gearbox, and the body itself are all from already existing manufacturers. yes it still requires skill, but when considering other vehicles in this price range, they are by far more exquisite and . Sure I am speculating, but their profit margin IS high when you consider these relatively inexpensive parts when comparing to other manufactures such as Bugatti, Porsche with their 918, and even Lamborghini's Aventador. I believe he would still be left with a huge margin even if these cars were sold with 25% off their listed price. If you watched videos of how a Bugatti Veyron is made, you can see why it's manufacturing cost is so high.

this thing has about as much in common with the lotus its "based" on, as the porsche 911 gt1 has in common with the 911 its "based" on. actually way less in common because the gt1 still had a porsche engine. lotus's have traverse engine and trans setups. this car does not. why change the lotus exige look for this car, when the lotus has been tested and trued over the years. especially in terms of aerodynamics. why engineer and design new body work when you can use a design that is already fantastic looking and fully capable at the same time. this debate needs to end, because quite frankly this car is an absolute animal, and has lived up to every expectation. 265mph in 2 miles is unfathomable, and most of us normal people will ever get to experience such performance. the shitbox veyron needs 8-10 miles and koenigsegg needs a constant circle like nardo. the ssc aero is a kit car based piece of junk compared to the venom. i am proud this car is american, and im proud they picked a british chassis to base it on, because after all. the best chassis are from england. lola, lotus, mclaren,

euroaaRON1 The point is, this is not a car built from the ground up, but a tuner car. I even respect SSC a lot more, because they built the Ultimate Aero and the Tuatara from scratch. Of course the build quality won't match that of the Veyron or the Agera but that's a different story.

the ssc was built on a replicar lambo chassis. a ladder and frame for replica lambos. the lotus tub is better in every way in my opinion. and the tuatara does not exist yet other than cgi and the non functioning rolling model for the reveal at pebble beach. as of now i honestly dont think it will be getting built. its been 3 years since its been revealed, and no new info has came out since other than nelson racing engines will be building the engines. you would think they would at least posted some engineering and construction photos of the finished car considering the targets they were aiming for with it. im thinking after they revealed the car, no one has ordered one, since then the huyara p1 918 laferrari have all been getting orders, but still nothing on the tuatara.

SideWays8Productions Years of R&D??? Share some of that stuff you've been smoking man... this car is a mix tape of off the shelf parts. Most of its manufacturing is outsourced. And besides, all those fix cost that you mention, they are diluted among all the products Hennessey sells. Not just this kit kart. And R&D is handled as an operating expense. It does not carry over to specific SKU's (Stock keeping Units). This kit car is indeed way overpriced.

R&D doesn't just apply to figuring out which turbo spools the fastest. Years of testing requires paid man-hours for dozens of employees, admission to testing grounds, failed parts or builds, etc. Considering only 16 have been sold, and their factory alone probably costs twice that, it's safe to say $1mil is a fair price, especially when you consider other companies with twice the price and half the market. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely hate this car in every possible way, and I'm not a fan of Hennessey's rather primitive tuning techniques. But as a businessman myself, it would be blatantly stupid to ignore where that money actually goes, regardless of the end product's performance.

It should not be assign to the cost of manufacturing the car. All the R&D cost is shared across all Hennessey products and services as an indirect cost and are deducted of taxes. Like you said, he sell a lot of other stuff. So I would not say that the price of $1M is due to R&D. This is how R&D works. Some projects reach production, others don't. And like I said, the assembly and manufacturing of this car is mostly outsourced. It is assembled in England. He didn't had to built a factory for this car. The Engine and the gear box are off the shelf and are pretty much the same he uses for other hi performance modifications (although he may tune them differently). The body and interior are heavily based on the Lotus, it does not have any kind of electronic aids and so on and so on. In business you can make money by selling lots of cheap products (small profit), or a small quantity of luxury items (killer profit). The Venom is obviously the second case. I don't mind him chasing a big profit. We are all in business to make money. But as a consumer I don't see the value. This is pretty much a kit cart Lotus. I think you can built something very similar to this for a fraction of the price. Hennessey is raping the Venom buyers, good for him. Just like you, I also don't like the Venom. I think is an interesting engineering exercise, but nothing more. It is not a production car per se. At the end of the day, it is a modified Lotus with off the shelf parts for a million dollars. Ouch!

Some of the things he did give was Cars that didn't have the upgrades or they were just used parts from other cars when they were supposed to be upgraded new parts. If you sent your car to him he would take your engine out and sell it and put in some bs engine or something like that.

Those two are from completely different worlds. Venom is hardcore widow maker, Veyron is powerful, luxury, AWD and safe in driving. You need a technology and knowledge to build a 1000 hp car that works for every day in any condition.

Naw, you just need deep pockets and design intention to build a car like the Veyron. Also, it's the cabin that's really the only thing left from the Lotus. The front and rear clips were completely chopped off. I do agree that the Veyron and Venom are two completely different cars. Which one is better is subjective.
