Dude everything is "cheaply made" for you lol its a Honda under $20,000. Dont expect a luxary vehicle for the price.. Im sure Honda's goal was achieved with this car do to the fact that it beats most in its class. Price and MPG.
You were the inspiration for me to buy a Fit , I got it two months a go , same color like yours but with Automatic / Paddle shifters ... It's been amazing so far and i think the cloth seats are way more comfortable than leather specially in hot and humid weather ... You've taken a good are of your car and I admire that ! Keep posting such great videos ...
got to say guys, i hope you make it big on youtube. you guys are probably my favorite car reviewers on youtube because of your unique style. keep it up!
As long as the engine is up to full temp and has some miles on it, there is nothing wrong with revving the engine. It's good for it once in a while, gets all the carbon out of the cylinder walls and keeps all the oil circulating properly throughout the motor.
Our main issue has to do with the high levels of engine and road noise and the choppy ride quality. However, we must let you know that when this car was brand new, the road noise wasn't as loud as it is right now. We suspect the cheap Dunlop tires are the culprit as they are half wore out right now. You get used to the stiff ride but if you carry passengers in the rear during the trip they will notice the bouncy ride quality. Ask the dealer to drive it on the hwy, you may be ok with it.
Great review!! 😃 To funny that you got caught up on the cold drinks in the summer and warm drinks in the winter Just like I did on my Tips and Tricks Video. I did it like 3 times n still messed it up LOL
6 reasons why I got the fit last year instead of the SI or GTI. 1- the price 2-unleaded over premium gas prices 3-turbocharge and high performance maintenance 4-versatility, magic rear seats 5-better MPG 6-insurance cost is lower Hope it helps.
I have gotten away from the Dunlops and run Yokohama 520s. Wet weather traction increased, no accidental wheel spin like with the Dunlop POSes, and my fuel economy increased. ;)
Thank you, I was quite shocked to be reading soo much hate this time, I know there are a lot of people out there that love this car. I am still one of them it's just I wanted everyone to see what Honda needs to do with the 3rd generation Fit. It's still a great car, and to be honest I am much more picky vs the average consumer. I'm also confident that if I replaced the Dunlop tires with better ones the road noise would go down.
I own a 2008 Honda Fit Sport with 5 speed automatic pedals shifters. I brought new. It's almost 13 years old with 148,000 miles. I love the 6 speakers CD radio sound system with 300 watts.
+Tofu If you've ever driven an older mustang V8 from the late 90's you know that they are way too much engine for the chassis, and that makes them pretty fun even though they handle poorly. The FRS is the opposite; it is way to much chassis for the engine. It would be like having a mountain bike with titanium frame and a trick suspension... with training wheels on the side of it. The body/suspension drives like it was made for a car with 2x the horsepower and 3x the torque. The Fit's steering is very direct, so much so that it reminded me of a 4 wheel steering Prelude I once owned. And it's manual transmission was just as smooth as the FRS with throws about the same. It was shocking to me how much fun it was to drive, even though it isn't fast. I took it onto the highway because I had read that they are "buzzy" at highway speed, which it was, but by that time I didn't care. I also drove one of the new generation Fits (2016) and it wasn't nearly as fun as the 2009 I tested which really is a shame. I was considering a new F150 for 4 times as much, but now I think I will look for a 2012-2013 Fit Sport with a manual for a fraction of the price.
Thanks. Some good tips. Regarding lack of tech. You may want to do some research on pulling out the entertainment system and replacing it. I did the research for a CRV and found I could add all the tech I want, blue tooth, nav system, android and apple car play mirroring, rearview camera, blind spot cameras, dash camera, etc, etc, etc. The unit I found replaced double DIN systems. If that system is single DIN you may not get all the functionality you want, but a lot more than you have. Cheap cars of all types are not loaded with functionality.
I'm not going to sugar coat my review. This is my car that I pay for everyday and I thought I felt the need to share the things wrong with it. When you own a car for a year you really figure out whats wrong with it. I want Honda to see this so they can fix the problems for the next generation Fit. Sorry you felt that way but my style is just honest and blunt. Also, you think I did something to make it louder? Those are the factory tires, I rotated them once already. The car is just loud.
Watching this makes me miss my 09 sport. I traded it in for a 2013 mazda 3 i touring, to which I love more, but I will always have a soft spot for the honda fit
If I owned one, I don't know how long the "I really like this" feeling would last. I mean the fit seems great on the showroom floor, and it seems like a great everyday driver. I can't imagine myself driving this EVERY day though. Too small I prefer something big when I'm doing faster driving, and prefer something smaller when I go to the gas station lol
Love this car, not without it's flaws but still best in class in my opinion! Thanks for the one year update! Very useful info and you're easy on the eyes! :)))
very true. last oil change i averaged 39mpg overall. currently i am averying 34 cuz i decided to drive a lil faster and just get the most of the honda engine. its fun puts a smile on my face. sounds good too.
The camera equipment I use is very expensive and really good at picking up sounds the cheaper equipment cannot. I didn't edit the mic or the sound levels at all during post production. It is purely the noise in the car. Now, the road I was driving on is concrete and that is much louder than asphalt so that's probably why it sounds soo loud. On normal asphalt, the levels are much more tolerable.
I know what you mean about the utility of the vehicle. I know that, in comparison to a LOT of other vehicles, it is a cheap car . . . but every time I see one, I want one. Especially one in blue. Thanks for the review!
In the market for a family oriented subcompact. I want cabin versatility, high MPG, dependability and a sticker price UNDER $20K. Honda Fit sounds perfect but your cons about the car worries me. Competition that fits my criteria is Chevy Sonic and Kia Rio both have more power and a 6 speed. Sonic has Chevy MyLink and integrated blind spot mirrors. Rio has Uvo, power folding mirrors, rear view cam, and a killer warranty. Could you review the Sonic LT with optional turbo I4 and Rio EX?
The fit is a good car for for my height it's a little too small for headroom. I'm over 6ft. Also don't rev it over 5500 rpm. It's bad for the motor and u can wear out some parts of the motor. I have a '12 camry se V6 sport and it rides great and use it for work cause it uses less gas than my '03 exploder which does less than 20 mpg on the highway and it's a V8. Fords are good especially explorers, expeditions, focus, mustangs n Taurus. My neighbor bought a '13 focus ST which has 252 Hp and it's fast with 6 spd man trans. It came with Bluetooth, navigation n has touchscreen.
@@Jo_Galezo It doesn't focus the beam and blinds other road users. In many countries it's illegal for that reason. EPIC dazzle. I want to punch people who do it. You have to buy specific projector headlights to run HIDs correctly.
It's not that bad, honestly. As long as they are of low wattage, and the headlights are kept clean and clear it will not glare *too much* light compared to a 90's F150 with 55w 8K hids.
I love my 2008 fit , the biggest thing I wish is a little more power, and a 6th gear for the highway. Wider wheels and better tires I can do anytime. I might...might trade it for the 2nd generation Fit... it has little things that make it a bit nicer than the original, but again still needs 6th gear.
Saw your review of the 2015 Honda Fit and I've followed your reviews of this 2012 as well. Any chance we can get a 2 year review? Do you plan to upgrade in the spring to the new Fit? I have the MT, same as you, and that 6th gear will def make this car amazing!
Well, the Honda Fit was traded last February for an ILX 6-speed. We're mighty impressed with the new Fit. Can't wait to get our hands on one to test :)
Lol reminds me of my 1992 EG9. At 110km/h it was near 3500rpm. Combine that with my short ram intake and catback exhaust, it gave many people headaches. I loved every second of it though :)
the cars you saw with the aftermarket dohc sticker. were swapped cars. on the civic si's that come with the dohc stickers are the models that come with dohc engines.
Those PnP HID's have to go!!! You can even see the glare during the daylight shots. To do it properly you have to do whats called a projector retrofit. It better aims the awesome amount of light that HID's give off. The light is better focused on the road without blinding other drivers due to the different focal points of HID's vs. halogens.
My brother lives in the SF bay area and made that excuse. I laughed at him to his face, because that's exactly what a good sibling should do. If his sis can drive one, so can he! Save the Manuals!
I've had my fit sport for 6 months now and I keep getting the horseshoe light on the dash which indicates low air pressure, even though I had the tires refilled with dry nitrogen. They are rated for 33 psi and one is at 32 psi. That little bit of pressure drop can trigger the light? Overall is great, A/C not that great if the car is sitting under a hot sun and visors are utterly useless and another thing, Honda should place a button for fresh air instead of a lever.
The loudness in your review is just so much than the others on youtube that it feels like either there is something mechanically wrong with your car or the gain on the mike is turned up way high, my old, crappy 98 Corolla is even quieter. ( I consider it one of the noisiest cars I've ever driven) I don't get it.
Nice video to match the fiesta st power the should put the k20 197 hp from the old si but i dont think it would fit in such a small car the nose dive issue would probably get worse just noticed there are lot of hondas in northen virginia
yeah most of this is just nit picking. awesome car for the price. Seeing how much cars can depreicate year to year, many people do not want to spend 30k+ for a car for better dash material and do not need bluetooth or satellite radio in their ride lol The fit is one of the most reliable cars you can buy on the market year to year. SImple is better. It is noisy at heck though.
Out of all the sub-compacts on the market, we still feel the Honda Fit is in the top 3. It's just no longer the top choice. Out of the 3 you mentioned, we would take a Fit first any day. Not all sub-compacts are large inside, the Fiesta is very cramped same with the Mazda2.
If the Fit was an Automatic then BT wouldn't be as necessary. However, with a lot of traffic in this area and a stick shift, it would be nice to have it.
The best upgrade I ever did to my 2013 fit was upgrading the tires. I got some really decent Goodyears (Assurance) . Way quieter, better handling, and did not wear out nearly as quickly as the stock tires. Actually kind of comfortable. I love this car so much, that I'll probably replace it with the same exact generation, when that day sadly and inevitably comes. Not sold on the new ones, especially with CVT. The only feature I wish it had is Bluetooth. Not a deal-breaker though. This is the closest to "classic" Honda that you can find in a fairly recent model.
Stop making excuses for the shitty materials in this car. Hondas of the 90's never had such crap quality materials on the interior. Honda has such garbage quality these days, other automakers too, but since the 7th Gen Civic Honda has really done a complete 180 in quality.
In the sub-compact class, we think the Fit and Fiesta are best in class. However, depending on your taste and budget, you may end up like the Accent or Rio as well. If you could move up a class, we'd recommend checking out the Mazda3 and Ford Focus too.
I love the fact that the Honda Fit is minimal. I had a Honda Fit Sport 2010 which was a truly amazing car and fun to drive. I drove it gently and managed to drive it without too much noise complaints. Not a big fan of too much bling, to be honest. Decent and honest review. Now shopping for another Honda Fit but frankly, I don't think the newer body style resonates to my aesthetic. The 2018 Fit looks more like a CR-V which I don't care for.
Our editor in chief did notice that when he bought the car, the road noise was much quieter, the Dunlop tires are def to blame. We shall look into replacement tires perhaps, if he decides to keep the vehicle
Great review. I just bought a 2013 Fit sport and I am really loving it so far. I use the freeway to get to work everyday and honestly I don't feel a lag or anything that might concern me (my car being an automatic, I thought I would have concerns with that aspect)...thankfully. I'd have to say that this car should definitely be grouped with the top picks for class/price range. Great pro/con list that should be very helpful for those considering this awesome little car.
It's still a fine choice today, out of all the sub-compacts on the market, it has the strongest resale value, best reliability, and roomiest interior. It's no longer the only choice out there but it's still a solid choice. The main issue we mostly have is the road noise, which can be fixed with a set of good tires. We were getting trade in offers at $14,500 for it and that is just fantastic resale value.
ROAD NOISE: I had that problem in my 2003 Honda Civic Coupe - Solved it by getting some Low Noise Rated Sumitomo tires. The difference was pretty amazing. I now have a Gray Fit Sports with 850 miles on it. So far so good. I really enjoy driving the Fit. I purchased it after watching your videos. It's a Manual!
