What an excellent job mate. No chit-chat but straight to the point a true A to Z clutch replacement , all alone with a minimum set of tools and on a awful weather. Beside the complexity of the task you changed the position of the camera to get the best angle each time on filming through it all. Thank you so much for this instructional material. Highly appreciated. You're a true hard core.
Well done young man Ive done my fair share of gearboxes laid on my back in the rain but now im 65 and have 2 post lift , transmission jack , knackered knees and no enthusiasm You've been a pleasure to watch Look after your body It wont last forever 👍👍👍👍
I commented before the end of the video and later noticed its pissing down with rain, not to mention no ramps, no help and on your back in the cold , much respect mate.
JUST STARTED STRIPPING MINE 2009 1.4 PETROL.AND I GOT TO TAKE THE BLOODY SUN FRAME OFF .GRRR THE BOX WILL NOT COME OUT..I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE HAD TO TAKE THE SUBFRAME OFF.. BUT YOUR VIDEO HELPED ME SO SO MUCH.I WOULD AV NEVER TRIED IT OTHERWISE..THANKS SO MUCH KEVIN.
I found Kevin when looking for a video on a clutch change, his video enabled me to take the job on knowing what to look for . superb Technician and great for sharing to YT
Kevin alone with only Laggy and Hyndai and Ww and Mercedes and Opel and...........you are the best and big big Spezialist for Mehatecknik,i loved see you movies Greetings from Germany
Ive watched nearly all your vids. i must say if anyone wants to have a go at changing their own clutch, you certainly show how its done the easy way. I dont own any of the cars youve featured but i find your work ethic and expertise amazing. Do you only change clutches or do you swap out complete gear boxes. i ask as im interest in seeing a CVT swap. i'm sure theres loads on RU-vid but. i'd like to see how you'd tackle it. All the best. keep up the vids.
Interesting to watch your videos. To be more educational you may use torque wrench where you need torque setting. It will be good for youngsters. Thanks.
Hi, amazing work buddy. One question: There is no need to change flywheel? Because in VW and other German cars with diesel you have to replace it too. Thank you
Like your detailed videos on replacement clutches, what camera are you using for your videos, I might need to do my i30 at some point, i need to record it for memory though or it'll never get put back together properly, a head worn camera would be ideal I think, what do you use.
oh friend! excellent contribution you beat the time of the previous video by replacing a kit! (master) I have a query, you will have a video changing the chain distribution kit of the same model... Thank!
Im doing one of these as we speak, Im struggling to fit the gearbox back to the car Clutch plate is definitely the right way around and aligned how i usually would with the same tool as you but for some reason the box wont go all the way on, it seems to go on the clutch some of the way but not the rest of the way
Well Kevin another job well done, your a grafter mate doing this all day every day on your back outside in all weathers you deserve a medal mate great videos....Kevin can i ask is there any clutches you really would NOT like to do or avoid ect...
SooperSkoots I used to take on all of them. .. but nowadays I try and avoid Audi in line transmission... It’s still driving the front wheel .. It does get tricky and time consuming in my opinion. The driveshafts on some models runs through the DMF... The main difficulty is the access to remove the driveshafts... second time consuming issue In my opinion are the 3 top bell housing bolts. ...limited access ... and lastly it’s very close proximity to the body of the car... so a lot of wriggling about. ... And also the Audi Quattro as much as I think they are fantastic cars. There is one bolt on the transfer box which can really test your patience... I’ll happily do it I. A weekend at home but not as a daily repair. ... What’s your opinion on it ...
@@WMCS I have not tackled such a car but i have done many in my time i am just a self taught mechanic that in all honesty probably does more than i should if you get my meaning, mechanics are getting more and more complicated now when i started it was so simple no diagnostics ect if your car didn't start it was the sarter motor, battery, coil, distributor or carb ha ha, i did a clutch on a Land Rover Freelander 1.8 petrol last year and struggled like hell with a bolt that i could not get to at the rear near the top of the bell housing and it was tucked deep within too, and i'm sure if you have done one you will know the one maybe, like i said mate you are a grafter it a great thing you do having the time to record everthing that is brilliant keep it up Kevin they are sooo sooo good thanka again Regards Mark...
SooperSkoots i started working on carburettor cars and the old point and distributors... I know exactly what you mean... I bought my first timing light ... which I thought was state of the art equipment back then 😆😃.... that’s going back easy 20 years now. ... Great to hear you tackled a Freelander one. I’ve got a few videos from freelander 1 to 3 on the channel. I live working in freelancers. Hope you keep up with the weekend repairs. ....
Hi. Great job and video. I have a kia ceed 1,6, almost the same car as this one. I can shift the gears easily even without pressing the pedal, and the car won t move. Do you think is the clutch or something else. Thanks
Hi Kevin I think the amount of times you slide under a car in a day, think I would use a thin sheet of plywood on your padded squares and use a lay on creeper. Stay safe 😷 tgc Gazza
Great job as usual. That looked a bit of a mission to release everything before removing the box. Out of interest when you get a car you have never done before do you research it or just go for it because you just seem so confident on every make?
m2mark1 thanks for reviewing the video. I don’t normally do any research beforehand. But before I start any new repair I spend about 5 mins looking for any hidden sensors or wiring. Then another minute or two processing the whole job from start to finish in my head... Thanks for your input on the channel.
Hey Kevin, thanks to you I manged to change the disk, pressure plate and throwout bearing, I had to also drop the subframe to drop the gearbox to use the alignment tool which wasn't easy to reattach with only having 1 jack. Also want to Inform people to always undo the gearbox oil fill plug before you undo the drain oil plug, I made the mistake of not doing so but I manged to undo the fill plug. Kevin I read in the manual book to use 75w 85 gl 4 gear box oil but when I put my registration No in euro car parts or halfords I get the option of 75w 90 gl 4. Am I okay to use that? P.s Kevin, do i fill the fill oil port until it over fills and pours out from fill port?
Hey Kevin just needed your advise, my brother has i30 2010 1.4, I took the car the other day for a MOT which it passed. I noticed that when I was in 3rd gear above 2.5 rpm my clutch was slipping rpm would jump without the car accelerating, also when when moving off the car would stall sometimes. Do you think its the clutch that's worn out, havent check the clutch master or slave just yet. If its the clutch that need replacing is it the same steps jn the video? Thanks
ESSA exactly the same. But a bit easier. To release the top mount. There is now a slot in the wheel arch. You can access the two bolts that holds the gearbox mount.
@@WMCS thanks alot Kevin for the super tip, would need to look for that month in the video hahaha. Kevin you know at time stamp 29:56 what part is that and do I need to do that, what you did with it when you were adjusting it.
Philip Burtonwood thanks for the review much appreciated... for my daily work I only do clutches... I do one every day ... but I rebuild engines on weekends from home.
Hi good video! I have a 2012 i30 same as this one. I have started finding it harder to go into reverse and first gear. Do you think it is new clutch? Been reading that replacing the clutch master cylinder can help it. Any help is appreciated!!!
where did you get the long half inch ratchet from? im sick of getting snap on guy to come repair mine all time ive started using halfords ones but little better on warrenty lol if y ou dont mind me asking thanks
Hi Kevin, Great video, Im currently doing a 2011 1.6 i30, everything looks similar although it looks like the subframe needs to be removed to get the box out ? Thanks aiden
Apart from getting paid what part do you enjoy the most ? I like seeing the clutch dust being washed off for some strange reason along with some clutch alignment tool action lol.
colintx800 probably driving to the repairs. I usually drive about two 1-2hours ... I’m pretty sure I’ve covered 80% of England in the past 6 years. I do get excited about new cars that I’ve never done before tho ... I’ve got a few DMF repairs coming up this week ...
HI KEV.I GOT A 2009 HYUNDAI I30 1.4 PETROL.IS IT THE SAME PROCESS AS IT IS FOR THE DIESEL YOU DONE IN THIS VIDEO...MY CLUTCH HAS GONE.I GOT NO CHOICE BUT TO DO IT MYSELF...THANKS KEV.ANY HELP WOULD BE AWESOME..YOUR THE BEST
@@WMCS thank u so much kevin.i only wish i was as good as u.i watched all of your videos.your awesome.u work so hard.yet make it look so easy.thats talents
gregos73 I’d say they have made some big improvements in the engine bay compared to the earlier models where there was excess brackets and messy wiring looms everywhere.... always appreciate your feedback
