I've owned and or ridden, sometimes for a short period but others for thousands of kilometres, a Honda CB 250 (back in the early 70s), a Harley (Fatboy), an Indian (Scout 1200), a Yamaha (XV1100) and Suzuki (800 Volusia) a Suzuki Burgman (650 Scooter) and this bike. Let me be honest. I love Kawa - it is the most comfortable, most enjoyable bike to ride for long distances, The ABS, cruise control, radio with music player connection and the storage make a long weekend ride a pleasure. I love that audible thunk when you select 1st - it tells you the bike means business and is ready to roll. Of the rest of the bikes I listed the Yamaha was the next best - I clocked 165k/kms before trading it for the Kawa which now 93k/kms. The Suzuki scooter is the next best. I confess to not loving but not hating the Harley and the Indian was good for a day's ride but I wouldn't consider it as a long term proposition. In my view you should ride what you like, what you can afford and what suits the type of riding you do. Let go of all the prejudices you have about cruisers v sports bikes v tourers or whatever because it is the ride not the speed or how quickly you get there or the destination that are important. It is being out on your bike on the open road with the wind in your face (only motorcyclists and dogs understand that feeling). I love my Kawasaki and I love my scooter - I ride both but not nearly as often as I would like. I can't comment on the Canadian V American price. In Australia when I bought mine , in 2011, it was about $23K. They are no longer available here. By the way about $15K cheaper that the Harley they were copied from and from all that I've heard much more reliable.
Is it possible change the radio player? I would like to put a dvd player. I have a kawasaki vulcan nomad y2000 and I use a dvd player on it! It's great!
Nearly $3000 more than in the US. Cheaper to buy there and import it even after paying the import taxes. I just cant understand it when the C$ is at par with the US$!!
Wow, sure stealing the show with all 2 people standing around it. I say they rename it the Kawasaki SHOW STEALER! Or the Showy Mcstealerson. Or the Kawasaki two people disinterestedly casually chatting 1700 (Official model # VN1700TPDCC)
