I want to say it was just under $400.00 USD for the whole package. I guess you don't have to have the fairing, but the noise is something awful without it. We bought a massive, secondhand Sears xcargo 20 box and have taken several trips with full confidence in this rack system. In my opinion, it is well worth the money.
