The thing is I'm in love with everything about the Mini Cooper except one thing.... The HUGEEE speedometer in the middle, I like how the 2014 and up did it but I don't have the money for one yet so for now I'm looking for a 2013 below.
The engine is a BMW engine, it was made with the help of Peugeot, but it's BMW engineered. Your pronunciation of Peugeot is hilarious. They're French.. Finally, I have fit 3 people and tons of luggage comfortably in my 11' Cooper S Hatch. Just scoot the front passenger seat forward. The rear seats are actually really comfortable.
One of the best small cars around, just a shame Mini didn't keep it very British and have Manual gearbox only, it just seems pointless having an automatic Mini as its a drivers car. Apart from that the car is great. With it having A/C i don't see any advantage to why Mini / BMW put heavy sunroofs in their cars, too much extra weight high up for my personal opinion.
the only real problem with minis is the terrible ride quality luckily, if you switch to comfort-oriented all season tires on 15" wheels, it still fills the wheel arches and the ride is ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE smoother. think smoother than a g35. however you lose no handling capability.
If you see this plz answer it. Which car do you prefer overall for someone who is a car enthusiast (spirited driver); this or the equivalent gti? (with a manual transmission)
I've driven the 2nd gen Cooper S (produced 2007-present), but actually bought a used 2006 1st gen Cooper S (produced 2002-2006). I think the interior in the 1st gen is nicer. And more important: you get the Supercharged BMW/Chrysler motor with its nice whine, compared to the Peugeot Turbo motor used from 2007 onwards. For those complainging about the car being too small: anyone who buys a car called "MINI" and then complains about it being small, is an idiot.
There's plenty of room in the back of a Mini. You'd have to be over 6'5" to need the seat all the way back. I'm 6' and can easily sit behind the drivers seat in my Mini, so the reviewer is being a little unfair. It's never going to win any awards for rear seat roominess, but there's definately room back there!
It actually is just a checkered flag resemblance. If you go to mini's website and "build" one, you'll find it under the Interior options. The actual carbon fiber dash comes in the JCW mini, or is added on as a custom build option.
LMFAO my cousin spent months trying to find a mini cooper base with white roof and white side mirrors and in chili red. It had to be a auto and had to be a base. Finally found it but 5 months later it needed a new engine....
I was recently given a 2011 Mini Cooper (non-turbo) with the six-speed manual that originally belonged to my father; last September I had an ‘07 Dodge Caliber which was my very first car that suddenly broke down and never even reached 100k miles-94k miles to be exact. I am still learning to drive the stick shift and my dad has been teaching me. The car he gave me has 114k miles on it, and it still rides and drives perfectly!
Well Ive got a 2012 August Right Hand Drive S - A Direct Import from the UK. It is a Turbo Petrol 184 BHP with Overboost. It is a heck of a driver’s car. It absolutely Flies.
The best automatic I have ever driven was probably in one of these and I just love the engine note but ugh cars like this just need a 6 speed for the real driving experience!
No BMW do make the engine and supply the Peugeot group with them. You do not need the seat all the way back so you can seat an adult in the back. The seats are part leather not leatherette. You don't buy a mini for a smooth floaty ride and a large boot you buy it for its handling and looks mainly and it is pretty practical as a carrier. If you want more then you are looking at the wrong car sector. One part the reviewer did get correct is that a mini puts a smile on your face every time .
Peugeot engine with BMW design cylinder head. come on Automatic, Mini should never ever designed or build a Mini with an automatic gearbox, its a drivers car. also sunroofs are garbage, too much weight in the roof. everything else is amazing build quality and good car.
It's not freaking small! I can fit in the back. My family can fit 4 people in the car. And only an idiot would have the passenger seat that far back knowing there is someone behind them. It is spacious.
