This OU Law student competition focused on a case about the First Amendment Rights of individuals who were arrested while camping in a park during an Occupy movement. Additionally, Mr. Gribble claimed he suffered injuries while in the custody of police. The 2012 1L Moot Court Competition was held in the Dick Bell Courtroom at the OU College of Law on April 13, 2012. The OU College of Law Board of Advocates sponsored the event.
Judges were Oklahoma Supreme Court Justice Noma Gurich; U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Niles Jackson; Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals Judge Bill Hetherington; Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals Judge John Fisher; OU Law Jurist-In-Residence Wayne Alley; Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals Judge Robert Bell; Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals Judge David Lewis; Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Arlene Johnson; and OU Law Dean Joe Harroz.
Participating students were Justin Hedges on behalf of the petitioners; Adlai Groves on behalf of the petitioners; Nick Elliot on behalf of the respondents; and Zack Ryan on behalf of the respondents.
