For all the things lacking in modern NASCAR broadcasts, great call by Bestwick and really good direction for this finish. Marcos' onboard was perfectly used, especially that last shove off Turn 5 - love how you can hear him back off, then stab the throttle to bump into Kes.
Brock Beard I was in the frontstretch grandstands for this race and when I got home and watched the replay i couldn’t believe how well they broadcasted the last lap. Like you said, commentary and camera point of views were perfect. A little luck/skill by the whole ESPN team. So cool
Still in my opinion the best finish in this era of NASCAR. I'll never forget this one. And NASCAR should add more road courses. Don't get me wrong. I love ovals, but road courses are good too.
Quality competition on road courses is all but nonexistent, so a finish like this becomes more memorable than usual. This was something of an unexpected finish as well - the second straight Glen race where Busch gagged and Ambrose side-slammed past Keselowski.
@@SquidofBaconator The race ended around 2-4 if not mistaken and I understand its rush hour but I reccomend leavimg just around when they exit the last corner
3:32 This is probably my all-time favorite onboard clip on any sort of racecar ever. The sound of him redlining the hell out of the engine, waiting for the perfect time to shift to 4th…fighting horribly worn Goodyear Eagles, oversteering like mad, just perfectly encapsulates what racing is all about. It’s always amazed me, the physical brute nature of how these guys handled those old behemoths. Fucking incredible racing.
Until today: Another Australian/New Zealand becomes the 2nd NASCAR Cup Series Driver since this guy Marcos Ambrose [2012], & now Shane Van Gisbergen [2021].
I still have no clue why did Nascar get rid of Alan Bestwick. One of the best commentators. I would trade him for Jeff Burton or Steve Letarte any time.
Now Ambrose trying to take 2nd from Keselowski while he tries to take the lead from Kyle! OH CONTACT IN THE ESES! Dangerous spot on the track for Kyle to be sideways looks like he goes off to the gaurdrail. No caution yet!
I'm here from a reddit link and a guy asked what a F1 fan think about this ending, well, it's a very nice ending, but it looks like a gokart race to me...slow af
Formula 1 is very fast but very boring. I guess you enjoy the leader winning 20 seconds ahead of second place and only about two teams winning all the time mainly.
if this is supposed to be great, you are not a true motorsport fans. its pathetic cheering for cars crashing on oil, loosing points that they well deserved through all the race. but why am I not surprised ? nascar is a lottery anyway. you drive through the race waiting who's gonna wreck you out of the race on purpose, pace car phases destroying your time advantage. and it's a bloody spec racing. not a true motorsport.
