Shuhei knew exactly what happened, he immediately tried to tell him that he missed the 4 damage from the Raging Ravine but he couldn’t get the words out. Bummer :/
Yeah, why would you want to be in incredible shape, break world records, and inspire people to push their physical limits when you can sit at a table and squabble with judges over the ruling of a card game? I also like Magic (I wouldn't be watching this if I didn't), but I'd rather have kids look up to Usain Bolt and learn how to run than have them sit on their butts and play a card game (not that you can't do both).
I think you may be missing the point. Seeing Finkel maintain respect for his opponent, lighthearted-ness and humor even while playing with so much money on the line is very admirable. In contrast, there are a number of athletes and celeb's who children look up to that don't conduct themselves in a manner one would consider "role model worthy". The fact that he's a magic player is irrelevant, performing at your peak while still being a decent human being is very worthy of admiration.
This is why players shouldn't manage their own life totals, or at least just not them only. They should have a judge for each table manage it as a third set of eyes.
Wow dude this is a bummer to watch... Finkel has been getting SCREWED on draws alot this entire tournament... Especially this game vs nakamura... Drawing more lands than actual spells... So depressing to watch... I know that feels finkel.
I kind of have to agree with you there, as much as i love magic. Things like physical health and taking care of your body, are first priorities, and i'd also like for kids to look up to performers in physically oriented activities. However, this doesn't mean that you can't look up to magic players, just let them define your game, and not your entire life.
Creatures only have summoning sickness the turn that they're played. Since Ravine is a land, Summoning sickness only applies to it if it becomes a creature the same turn that it is played.
most athletes live unhealthy unbalanced lifestyles that involve either using drugs or strange diets and usually have there own problems, i personally run and am in good shape there's nothing wrong with exercise but like anything fitness is best in moderation I much rather have my kids look up to a balanced person
So you'r staying that the volume isn't a problem whatsoever? You don't have to turn both the youtube and your computer volume all the way up? Just like me and every other person that has watched the latest wizardsmtg videos? Well then, aren't you lucky....
Zac's funny, but I prefer older commentators over Marshall. Marshall's good but Flores, BDM, Randy, Hacker did/do what Marshall does but better. Granted 3 out of the 5 I listed are done with mtg forever at this point. ;(
I'm pretty sure he doesn't. Maybe you should take a look. He just played Thoughtseize and he only has Overgrown Tomb, Raging Ravine, Treetop Village, and Blackcleave Cliffs. He only has 2 black sources and he just played Thoughtseize.
I mean there are also a lot of professional athletes that are the best at what they do and are still humble so I don't think its a shame that kids look up to them. So I still think wrarmatei's second half of his comment is wrong. Also when you are physically tired its a lot harder maintaining your composure so yeah some athletes get angered and lose their humbleness but hey I give them the benefit of the doubt, but of course some are just assholes.
Why is it so hard to fix the sound? I have to put the youtube and my computer volume all the way up. Afterwards I go watch some other videos and then blow my speakers...
In the end of the day, athletes are "performers" just like actors. Without the audience watching them do these things, they have no career. Coupled with that, at the end of the day, they are the best in the world in running in a straight line, or throwing a rubber Frisbee.
True, but he can drop little gems here and there as the historian. Marshall cant do that + BDM have played games together so I have a soft spot for him.
Finkel's the man. In the 90s, when I was a kid, I looked up to guys, like him, Pikula, Zila and McCabe. In hindsight, as an adult, it is clear that the admiration was warranted. It's a shame that there are kids looking up to professional athletes and high-profile celebrities, which barely qualify as human-beings a lot of the time.
@@bumpasaurus487 Then he dies when Shuhei activates a manland. If shuhei ults lili, finkel has to tec edge ravine in resp, then shuhei can split everything vs. 0 and finkel has to take the 0 pile/sac everything to get finks to persist and gain 2 life, otherwise he dies to treetop village. So finkel literally ends up at 1 life with no board.
@@evoluti0n09 ok, so I get what you’re saying about how if he ults Liliana, finkel is forced to use tec edge in response on the ravine or he will get owned. But if finkel does kill the ravine in response like u said, and shuhei splits everything ve nothing, he just keeps everything and blocks the equipped bloodbraid going to one. I don’t understand why you say he’s forced to lose everything just to gain 2 life. He’s at 4 and is facing only an unblocked 3/3 if he chooses the nothing pile.
@@evoluti0n09 you must think he was at 2 when this happened, probably because they don’t update finkels life to 6 for a while on screen after he chumps with his finks.
@@bumpasaurus487 Oh yeah you're right. In that case the best play is probably lili -2, activate ravine, atk with both, losing the ravine and killing finks for good. Not sure what my thought process was with my original comment. But the general idea was this game went on way longer than it should've, and I felt like that turn in particular could've been played better. Shuhei could've been more aggressive and applied more pressure to force Finkel to lose more resources.
I'm a bit confused about the Raging Ravine, it says 2RG: Until end of turn, Raging Ravine becomes a 3/3 red and green Elemental creature with "Whenever this creature attacks, put a +1/+1 counter on it." It's still a land. It doesn't say squat about haste, how can he attack every turn he's summoned, he should have summoning sickness?
This is why I hate Jon Finkel. He is so arrogan. Even when he knows he is going to lose no matter what happens, he has to stretch out the game for as long as he can and get all of the judges to confirm one stupid little detail that doesn't even matter.
