Symmonds to Solomon-->"Get up buddy, you're an Olympian." Pretty awesome.

Maybe not only one 800 m race but in competition like this where you have to make it through 3 rounds to win it, the only one who seems to able to do it (lead from start to finish all 3 rounds) is Rudisha, I mean, we all saw what happeneed to Solomon this year in the Moscow WC final ://

too bad the olympics are never held at Haywood field as far as Nick Symmonds is concerned.

Hayward Field...ok but...a rose is still a rose as far as Nick is concerned...at some point its just you vs the world's best....no amount of mother's love can overcome a faint hearted person.

Top 3 qualify for the olympics. He also had to hit a qualifying time in this race, which he did.

The individual has to race strategically. I myself would think being out in front , you would catch all of the wind and just a little wind is too much So if I had a kick like, lets say Billy Mills I could hang back and stay out of trouble and on the last lap start moving only one problem I didn't figure on Rudisha. He is awesome. But I like Mofarah he really puts it, all on the line and he does not disappoint Lol

You just said that it depends on the conditions. Anyway, to keep things in proper perspective, here are Rusida's best times this year. Just keeping it real. 1:41.74 David Lekuta Rudisha New York City, NY 06/09/2012 1:42.12 A David Lekuta Rudisha Nairobi 06/23/2012 1:43.10 David Lekuta Rudisha Doha 05/11/2012

@Mxyzptlk562 12 лет назад
You're correct. It does depend on the and conditions. But on the average day, you can expect them to come in 1-2-3. Btw, the record was set in 2010, by David Rushida and he is still the top runner in the world. So it will be a big deal if Nick Symmonds even medals. I'm cheering against that. And if he wins that will be even greater. But get real.

Only in American competition. Internationally, the current top runners are from East Africa.

Symmonds always does good at the olympic trials/Heyward field, but internationally he's never a factor. Nobody can beat Rudisha.
@Mxyzptlk562
@Mxyzptlk562 12 лет назад
Btw, seven other athletes have run better times that Symmonds best this year. So Nick will have to kick it up a notch in London. Once again, I hope he does.

Nick's only Achilles Heel...lack of 400m pop...he simply was giving away too much real estate to ever beat the very best in the world in the Kenyan fella and a few others.But in matters of toughness and heart Nick in my opinion had no equal.It's tough to beat guys you're overmatched by in their stride length and quarter mile speed.Nick always needed to work his quarter mile time 1.3 secs. faster than 48 secs. as his best.The best 800m runners can usually quarter in under 47! Some are even as fast as a 45sec.400m.When I was very young there was a freakish double event guy from Cuba(Juantorena"the Horse") as a 400/800 doubler.His 400m was well under 45secs.Point is Nicky needed to be able to glide through his first 400m easily in 49 secs.and come back in 52.Now he's trying out the 100m and while I think that's great and I'm always in his corner I still say he needs to be able to run a sub 47 400m.With that tremendous speed and finish a sub 3:45 mile would be within Symmonds grasp.

I know what that feels like for sure but mine wasn't from being a goof.I was spent and wandered wide and someone dipped me on the inside at the line.I still think he led with his head but that's what happened and he got the silver.My teammate was so good he almost always got the gold.Anyway I was privileged to be able to run track when young and I miss the speed and thrill of the comp.I tell you that's some serious juice when you're involved.
