An enlightened monarchy for an enlightened nation. My family lived in New Amsterdam and New Amstel in the 1600s. The first ancestors were Dutch building barrels to ship furs and tobacco home. In 1653 came French Huguenots in management with the Dutch West India Company. It was a sad day in 1664 when the British sailed into the harbor and claimed the colony for itself. Later the Dutch and English bargained for different colonies and the Dutch chose to keep Indonesia and let the English have Australia (New Holland) and New Zeeland and the future United States Of America. I can't help but think how different this country would be today under Dutch rule. My French ancestors had lived in Norwich England for a generation and left for the more tolerant Dutch nation where they could practice the Reformed religion in peace. They left New York for New Jersey where the English control wasn't as severe. They eventually joined the Dutch Reformed Churches there after the French Churches became Church Of England. My family supplied a president to the denomination and a seminary president. Many of the descendants still belong to the Dutch churches today. I am impressed with the Dutch royals. They seem to be very loved by the people and are very intelligent speaking at least 3 languages and knowledgeable in other endeavors. The civility shown by the monarchs in not hanging around forever and turning the crown over to new blood is unique.
i want invite all Netherlands roayl fmaily to Grand Palace Kremlin virtual tour Russian go send like and ask to send picture to Russian magazines to flowers business marketing, please with Humilty the grand grand daughter of Czar Nicolae II, Anastacia grand daughter...thanks to all
I think it is fair to highlight the fact that although they have a high style, unlike many other royals, they are very much hands on. They are not 24/7 protocol. They get involved with people, they feel and show they are normal human beings born with privilege but not because of thst they look over the shoulder to others.
This is too much how beautiful the best coronation maxima you make argentina proud ! Your mother in law just beems ,smiles as much as you.i'm glad queen elizabeth send camilla without a crown.i wish this good looking couple the best !!! De una mexicana !

Also on behalf of myself and the Queen, we would like to thank you at the Dam Square, in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands and the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom very much for the support we have received. Thank you. *Wilhelmus - Dutch National Anthem plays*
I am British, living in Spain. I just fell across this fabulous footage, 24th October 2018. Surely, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall felt uneasy, as so they should ... With the Succession to the Throne in the United Kingdom all in flux. Let me say, your National Hymn is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, and somehow moved me to tears! - God bless and protect The Netherlands and all her people; always such GOOD friends of the United Kingdom.
the moment Charles and Camilla stepped from their transport towards the place where the King said his oath it was remarked that it is the second Dutch coronation ceremony that Charles attended as next in line to the throne of England (the first being that of Beatrix, the King's mother)… but thanks for your kind words about my country (I for one am proud of our royal family, no matter what other people say... although I think it plays a part that I have met the King on several occasions when he still was the prince and busy with water in general… he's such a wonderful person, very kind and generous in giving answers to children as well (I was a kid when I met him))
What a warm and sweet comment , i love it, that shows the quality of Human Bean you are , Im Argentinean and i dont Forget Malvinas but we in ARGENTINA always knew that the animosity and the conflict was between Goberments but not , and never with ENglish and Argentineans, actually we have a lot of Irish , british, scotish, and welsh in our Country , , we Know Historically Malvinas is ours , but also there is a colonial power, that is still trying to live and preserve his past Glory , but returning to this Video , yes You Right 100%, this is a jewel , a Document for History , Thanks for that words , .
I was introduced to the Queen of the Netherlands by reading Anne Frank, the Diary of a Young Girl. Anne Frank loved the Dutch people, and was devoted to the redoubtable Queen Wilhelmina. I read that when Queen Wilhelmina was first presented to the people of the Netherlands for the first time (1894), she asked her mother the Regent Queen Emma "Mama, do all these people belong to me?" Her answer "No, my dear, it is you who belong to them." This has been the hallmark of the Dutch Royal Family for over a century. It is amazing that you've had only 4 reigning monarchs in 124 years.
You're very right on your anecdote on Queen Wilhelmina. During the war she became the symbol of Dutch sovereignity and this symbol is still cherished till today. The king for example speaks of her personal motto: "in the middle of difficult currents" (te midden van woelige baren/Saevis trangquillus in undis). I also admire her and placed her picture prominently in my house, the same picture which was placed in my grandparent's house. To me, the royal house runs like a red thread trough my family and creates a sense of connectedness not just to my ancestors, but to anyone in thus country. Especially on national days, I think that we can trust our king not as a politician but as a head of state who is outside of political changes and debates. That is the strength of our monarchy.
Yes emphasize "reigning". These european "royals" have more blood on their hands them count dracula. They are all descendants of incest. Fuckfaced murderers.
Not the morals of the over rated brits whom married with out true love.except for the queen, kate, william.queen beatrix can retire knowing the crowm is in good hands.charles destroyed his sons and diana's life. I don't care how in love he is they only used diana.queen by passing charles that's why she keeps going.
Honestly i hope he ascends to the throne soon , it will be justice at the end , Lily is not Reigning anymore she is in Windsor Castle and will return to Buckingham untyl Autumn by that time she will return Sad and witout one very important member of her Family and the return will be just to ascend Edward to Duke of Edimbourgh and then pretend shes in Power , [She's not since April ] Charles is signing all Documents since then and even helping here since last Christmas , End of 2020 is Welcoming CAMILA as the Queen Consort why? ahhhh The Wife of the King is a Queen. Big chance to be call PRINCESS Consort but in England will be a discussion about that Britts like the Highest title in their royal Family after all will be a KINGSHIP of Transition in the middle of all this Edward and Sophie will be more visible .
I love it how does he feel like crying with camilla hitting him . They both see the crown not coming their way. And the ironic thing they know why ? And so do we ! But i gotta give it to the queen. We see her getting lillibet all hunched back, the shrinking poor queen but these two are paying for it. !!!
Y Maxima mujer latina gran Reina por algo sus padres la llamaron MAXIMA gran madre y gran trabajo que realiza y no hablo como reina sino en su vida privada 😊❤❤❤

This is history and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to know what the Queen is saying, it's a shame I don't have the option of "English captions" 🇦🇺 greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
I have translated it but here again I'll copy it and send it. 17:57 - Queen Beatrix addresses the crowd: Few moments ago I have abdicated from the throne, I am happy and thankful to announce to you, your new King: King Willem-Alexander King Willem-Alexander: Dear Mother, Today you have abdicated as Queen - 33 moving and eventful years, Where we are deeply thankful to you.
I know little about Netherlands' Royalty, will Her Majesty Princess Beatrix be treated as a Mother Queen? Was she a Regent Queen when she abdicated to her son and daughter inlaw? Just genuinely asking, no scolding please.
No. Because other that the English Queen mother, she was actually the Queen. She is not named princess again, since the rule applies that there can be only one king and queen at the time. And she is also not half as much in the public eye as the Queen mother was, she is just retired from the job now.
@@cbisme6414 We now address her simply as '(her royal highness) Princess Beatrix', the title she had before she became our Queen. Technicaly we could call her as 'King's mum', but but that never really became a thing. The last who we gave that title here in the Netherlands is the current kings great great grandmother, Emma von Waldeck Pyrmont, who was the mother of our first Queen Wilhelmina. During Wilhemina her reign she was named as the Queen mother. But this was from 1898 till the death of Emma in 1934, so in Dutch terms that title became a bit old fashioned!
@@KAvanAlten She is now Princess of the House of Orange and Amelia Wilhelm Alexander and Maxime's eldest daughter is Princess of the Netherlands and when she turns 18 she will be Crown Princess of the Netherlands.

the two errors of this ceremony are as follows: 1) lack of a solemn ceremonial like that of Wilhelmina & juliana, that if you go to see their inhuldiging this in comparison with them, it goes into a corner to cry, since from the point of view of the solemn ceremonial it is an abyss, that is, in this ceremony there are not even heralds. a ceremonial that is too bourgeois and not very solemn 2) HE HAD TO BE NAMED WILLIAM IV !!!!!!!!!!
You say this because you’re fond of royal families who act like they used to do in the past. That’s okay but it’s uncommon. I’m Dutch and I don’t really support the royal system because I don’t want things to be like a past, I want to see things being normal. As long as they act as normal as possible I’m kinda okay with it because it has many benefits. Most people do this. It is in the interests of the royal family to give the people what they want because otherwise there position will be endangered. Making this ceremony even less bourgeois and even more solemn and giving the title ‘William the fourth’ to king Willem-Alexander wouldn’t help with that.
Are you sure about there being no heralds? Besides mentioning their first name, last name and occupation, their title and role is explained. It is an almost exact copy of previous inaugurations. They literally follow the same protocol.

Our King isn't crowned. There is no coronation because the continuity is already written in our laws. He gets an inauguration, because there is also nothing that can crown him right now. Surely, the Church would do it, but would it be the catholic or the protestants? -- A coronation would be cooler tho.
@@oneshot2028 It has not the status of an official crown; she is also not coronated with it. It is just a beautiful, traditional ornament on her head. And as addition: the inauguration, as you can see, is also not a church service, but a joint assembly of the Dutch Parlement and the Senate (the States General), presided by the chairman of the Senate (and thus not the king).
@@oneshot2028 Maxima is wearing a tiara, not a crown. The regalia of the Netherlands consists of a number of items symbolizing the Dutch monarch's authority and dignity. In comparison to many European monarchies' regalia, the Dutch regalia are relatively new: having been commissioned by King William II in 1840. Dutch monarchs are not and have never been crowned but are instead sworn-in and inaugurated in a ceremony at the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. The regalia (not including the royal mantle) are never bestowed upon or worn by the monarch. Instead, the crown, sceptre, and orb are placed on what is called a credence table during the ceremony while the sword and standard are carried by different officials. The crown symbolizes the sovereignty of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which currently consists of the Netherlands in Western Europe and three overseas countries in the Caribbean: Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Aruba. It also symbolizes the dignity of the Sovereign as head of state. The renowned Amsterdam jewelry firm Bonebakker was commissioned to make the crown. The execution were left to master gold- and silversmith Theodorus Gerardus Bentvelt. It is made of gilded silver, adorned with colored stones and imitations of pearls, and has eight arches with a monde and cross at the top.
@@oneshot2028 Queen Maxima does not wears a crown but a tiara. She isn't crowned but is queen as that is her title as wife of the king. In the Netherlands the monarch is not crowned but inaugurated.
