( www.TFLcar.com ) Let's face it the 2013 Audi Allroad and the Lexus RX 350 will spend more time traversing American shopping mall parking lots than bouncing over boulders in the great outdoors. But the Audi is called an Allroad and the Lexus has a locking differential so perhaps these vehicles can venture off-road. we decided to find out in this TFLcar Off-Road Mashup Drive & Review. Which of the two is the most off-road worthy and which of the two should you buy if you happen to cross shop the two modern vehicles.

For the Lexus the parking sensors control is on the steering wheel. You have to click the button that looks like two books put together and then it brings you to the options showing a P next to a cone. You then click enter on the steering wheel to deactivate it.

Year-long owner of a 2013 Lexus RX 350 AWD. Got Falken Wildpeak A/T Trails for it back in February, and it just glides on the dirt and snow.

12 year family chain owned 2013 RX350 AWD here, The thing had no damage when a Ford escape slammed into my moms car at the time, the only thing a bit messed up was 2 of the parking sensors. What was very messed up was the escape. It got totaled. Just shows the RX is a beast

In what way, lol they've remade their engines so many times trying to fix the issues, a wise person would lease the audi because literally it drops half its value in the first couple of years and own the lexus because it retains its value and after the maintenance plan expires it doesn't cost much to maintain.

They're better looking, more powerful, Audi's engines don't have significant issues. Lexus uses Toyota engines so of course they rarely break down. People sometimes fail to maintain their German luxury cars and THAT causes problems. Having a sophisticated machine requires periodic maintenance, and if you don't give it that maintenance, you will have problems. Im not saying that Lexus is a bad brand of car, but it is just below Audi on the totem pole.

Tristan Rios To get a German car as reliable as the Lexus you would need to spend three times as much money. Audi are just as comfortable and offer as much luxury as the Lexus but are not where near as reliable.

I agree, BMW and Audis are amzing cars but really, after the few years they are covered by the dealer, they cost small fortunes to maintain not to mention the enormous amount of depreciation on Audis. Looking at the statistics and not personal bias, buying the lexus would definitely be wiser and same with leasing the Audi.

I swear by the Lexus I'm on my second RX and I love it. no issues over 8 years of my first RX330 and have loved my RX350 great in the snow and every day driving my wife will not go for anything else, perfect road trip vehicle. i have owned a few VW's love the cars just a lot of issues and more than usual maintenance. i would buy the Lexus and Lease the Audi and I have always loved the way Audi's look and drive

I don't understand how is there no passion in the RX come on its one of the most beautiful Suv on the road and honestly alot better looking and better design than the allroad ... And it just beat a car that is designed to go off road that car is a definitely buy it just prove its a Multi-purpose vehicle and not to mention the luxury reliability and resale value some thing u probably wouldn't get in the Audi except for the luxury part both sexy cars tho ....

Look for a button marked BSM for Blind Spot Monitor. When parking in a driveway, the display went wild over the proximity of columns etc.

I love my 13 year old manual A4 wagon. I crawled it up a steep loose, partially washed out access road the other day without much wheel slip. I was surprised, actually. But yeah, it ain't no rock crawler. I miss the old A6 based Allroad with the air ride suspension. I've seen that car do some amazing stuff. The new Allroad is not that car.

Nathan to turn off the parking sensors on the RX go on your steering wheel next to the voice control switch there's a menu button click that then the list should show up for the parking sensors. hope that helps

time for A4 Allroad vs the new RAV4 off-road Mashup (without the running boards). Technically the Allroad does have more ground clearance, but I suspect the RAV4 would give you better approach & departure angles

Compare it to a real Allroad, 01-05 model which its owners would never give up. More cargo space than most current cross overs, robust awd, suspension, brakes and even today it still looks fresh inside out.

I would say that Subaru Outback buyers are even more affluent than Lexus or Audi buyers, they just don't like to show off their money as much. I have about 3 in my neighborhood and you go to somewhere like Ann Arbor there are tons of them. When I was growing up my best friend's mom was the CEO of a healthcare company and she had a 911 for the summer and an Outback for the winter.

Allroad C5 from 2000-2005 has better ground clearance and has low range. I have one and it's a beast !

For 2013, the F Sport package will be in the RX; there should be the GS engine (300 hp+ V-6) -- I haven't checked the specs. However, Lexus is more known for the RX450h, their hybrid.

It's because of the price... most people don't know what car they should compare too, so when they find a car with the price they are looking for, they will test out any other veiche in the same price range.

Good point about far and few in between wagon's in US/Canada Market. But isn't the all road more or less should be compared with Subaru Outback Limited 3.6R? As well as you said it Volvo V60 or V70? Great review.... I must say this is miles better than some of the earlier stuff.

2 brand new Allroads at the dealership near me. Gorgeous cars, inside and out, nicer than the A8 in my opinion. However, the backseat is too small, 4 cylinder engine, no heated rear seats and too expensive. There for 2 months now and no buyers. $50,000 is too much. Lexus RXs are great, tons of friends with them, many of them actually have at least two of them.

I think Audi down plays their numbers, because I test drove a Audi A6 with the 2.0 turbo and it felt more like 250, instead of the 211.

Your buy it lease it rent it or forget it scale does not make sense. Buying and leasing is the same thing technically. But when you lease a car you lose tons of money. So why would buy it over leasing or vice versa?

I have the both are this car and I like Lexus rx350 because it stronger than to Audi and my Lexus it too comfortable and little bit is fast and I feel and better than my Audi Q5 and about my q5 it not comfortable I'm not have feel like and my Audi and Lexus are new and they are for 2014 and Lexus is my favourite car and it luxury and feel have like luxury and rich.

Save us 7 minutes and admit that ground clearance is the offroad variable to start with. You say that offroad performance is indicative of performance in snow and rain. Not the focus of your video here, but the Allroad is awesome in adverse snow, sleet, rain conditions, proven many times here in NE this winter. Would be surprised if a higher center of gravity/relatively short wheel base vehicle like the Lexus even compares in more common driving conditions, too.

Nathan I'm surprised when you talked about Lexus RX series competitors and listed the Benz GLK, Volvo XC 60, but dude, the Acura MDX, c'mon! Also driving in stuff like this has no comparison to driving in 8" of snow or through 18" of water. 211 hp from the Audi for $49,000 is a joke IMO, especially considering those turbos will fail someday. Lexus is much better value when you consider motor, equivalent technology, better build quality and reliability. It's not a looker, but it's higher value.

Lexus needs to add a healthy dose of testosterone to the next RX. This is a nicely positioned car with one of the worlds best cocoonish beige interiors (you have to sit in it to understand) but those 90s era altezza tailights are just absolutely, positively ancient looking on a luxury car at this point. And panorama roofs are available on much cheaper cars now ... cmon lexus these are at least expected as options on high end cars.

overall, its no way close to competing with An Audi which at least on road is more refined and in terms of luxury on another planet. Plus dunno why but in the US you dont get the A6 all road, rather only the A4 all road (hence comments the Allroad is small)

Yep, it should be on the state flag. The Subaru Outback is better off road than both of these vehicles, but it's in the wrong bracket. We did our mashup based on price (about $50,000) and wanted vehicles that might be cross-shopped by affluent shoppers. Thanks for watching!

I'd say buy the Lexus and lease the Audi, Lexus' are durable so over time the cost of ownership, parts replacement and the hassle will be less

Calling the Lexus 'well made' is a bit much. The old guard in Toyota is still about cutting costs ahead of all out 'quality', a vestige easily spotted in production/build quality, especially when compared to a product from VAG. Reliability does not equate to quality.
