2013 BMW 128i Road Test and Review. Where has this thing been hiding?!

SOLD at Auto City in El Cajon, CA! I was so fortunate to test drive this beautiful 2013 BMW 128i with M-Sport package. With UNDER 10k miles, this car was clearly a well loved and babied weekend car before finding it's way over to Auto City. With it's sport tuned suspension and paddle shifters, this car is an absolute blast to drive.
Having just test drove a 2010 135i the week before, it was fun to compare the two cars. Both come with the same 3 liter inline-6 engine. But the 135i did boast BMW's Twin Power Turbo, whereas this 128i is naturally aspirated. So while the 135i might have this guy beat in the acceleration department, I enjoyed the 128i MUCH more. With it's late model updates, M-Sport package add ons and beautiful color combo, it was a more refined driving experience, and an all around sexier car. I really fell for it!

I'm not shitting on this car (HELL it was my FIRST ever BMW and I absolutely loved it...2010 128i), but the iDrive is not a distraction it is awesome. And a backup camera gives you far more visibility then mirrors and looking behind you. Lets not kid ourselves here. But this is definitely a driver focused car. I mean all BMWs are, but this one harkens back to the old classic rear-wheel-drive sports coupe that BMW was famous for. I would highly recommend this car to any driving enthusiast. It is a lot of fun to drive. Just not in the winter (HELP "X-Drive," where are you? lol).

Beautiful car ... I drove my boyfriend's 2013 128i and it is an absolutely awesome machine. On the highway, it pulled on every car that tried to go against it --- they were dots in the rear view mirror. And for any turns, it corners like it's on rails.

I love my 2009 128i but I do wish it was the 6 speed flavor. The simplicity and small size are a plus.

Edward, just found your comment 3 weeks late. Agreed, nothing beats a BMW with a manual. And the 1 & 2 series cars are the only modern BMW's that I truly enjoy driving. However as far as dual clutch, auto-manuals go, this car has one of the best. There's just enough of a jerk and rumble when shifting gears to give you the illusion that you're actually doing something. While I will always take a stick shift over an auto, between BMW's dual clutch and Volkswagen's DSG gearbox, there are some good ones out there.

Hey I’ve been really wanting to get a 128i for a while and I did a lot of research on these things and they look like a really nice package, but I came across something I saw on wiki, the n52 engine for the 128i was only used till 2011, is this wrong? I actually have become really confused about this, if it’s not the n52, what engine is it? I quite firmly believe it’s always been the n52 but I can’t find any definite answer

yes its an n52 engine in all 128's. Its the 135 that has two engines in it.

135i is gonna have a bunch of issues from the turbocharger system. It’s a lot easier to find a nice 128 as well because the turbo ones got bought up by the same types who get Subaru sti’s
