The video doesn't lie. Leather is not standard, you have to get the premium package to upgrade from its vinyl interior. BMW does a great job covering up their fake leather interiors by giving them fancy names. However in 2014 they finally made leather standard. I live in Cairo Egypt where we don't even select what options what comes standard is standard, they play with options as they please but they are very good in the market here they know exactly what a BMW customer needs in Egypt like it's supposed to have heated frnt seats as standard it doesn't because we will never need that so they remove that and put another option, I have the 528i comfort which this line is not anywhere but here I have the comfort access which is not standard, I have leather real one, I have TV, DVD, blueth the enhanced one, voice activation and command system and the navigation system professional but not activated need maps, I have active safety as stnd, I have 18" with 245 as stnd, what else do you want believe me they will put whatever they can as standard since car prices here are whooping expensive this car cost 700 thousand Egyptian pounds which is $100,000 price of an M5 and it's only 4 cylinders and above that it's assembled in Egypt imagine it's price if it was in Germany. I am a bimmer since 1999 I've driven 1, 3, x3 and 5 every car has it's own soul although they are heavily shared but still every one is unique like the 3 will always be my fav, among BMW line up but I'm I like how the 5 takes me from A to B in a comfort without all that body-roll in the video or that brake dive and that stuff. Jaguar is a very good company but it lost it's unique facial when they put that design language the old jags where a real Jag and they are trying to do is mimic BMW line up in everyway from engines to ergonomics.

Rusty Minded I appreciate your comment and reply. Global factors do make a difference in standard features absolutely. But this video is based for the US market and where BMW is lacking in standard features. However in the rest of the world that may not be the case, BMW may have a few advantages over Jaguar. I do have to agree with you in the fact they lost a certain appeal in looks, but they wanted to get away from the image of being a grandfather's car or an old man's car. Its hard to change over to attract a younger market without criticism. But we had to change because our older customers were either dying or dead. Either the company files bankruptcy or change the style. BMW is a great German engineered vehicle, but even like us we all have flaws.

I agree with what you say, they should study the market and put what's needed as standard I keep reading that about BMW in U.S market it lacks options and that is frustrating for a high priced car like this. I saw that day the old Jag and the new one GOD they are still catchy and unique here in Egypt, they barely have a market here because people go for what is most common for maintenance and all that.

it's well known that BMW gouges you with their packages...even for things that are standard on a camry, they force you to buy several thousand dollar packages...simply because they can. That is a valid criticism

sw1000xg No, BMW 528i is better than any of the competitors in the class. Obvisouly the Jag is 100k more expensive so its unfair, but the 528i is my favorite sedan of all time! Marti Brill

sw1000xg hhhhh r u kidding me right now dude !!! go and see the jaguar xf since 2007 until now u won't found anything new in the interior they just added some options to the screen but if u want to talk about which car is more comfortable and a car that u can drive for 24 hours without having your back broken of course it's gonna be the jag sitting in a bmw is just like sitting in a laptop but in the video as I said they just made the bmw looks like a cheap toyota and that's not fair tha jag is better than the bmw in somethings and the bmw is better than the jag in somethings too !! in all there test's the jag was better and that's a bullshit I had driven both cars and non of what they said is 100% true it must be that the jag is better in some point
