great video! thanks a lot. my buddy has this issue and was going to buy the whole pump for almost 1000! this was the issue and saved him a BUNCH of money. good job!
Excellent Video! i have been a tech in business for many years and this is the first time I have seen this issue. A customer just called me with this problem in a 2013 300. I am booked all day so I couldn't get to her. At least now I know about this issue.
Great video my man.. I'm going to be doing this very job soon on a new to me 2013 Dodge Challenger.. but I would really like to get inside that actual pump..if I have other issues besides just no fluid I will be getting into that pump...👍👍😎💪💯
Hi Terrance. Great video. I know this video is a little old, but I can't seem to get a straight answer on the type of fluid I should use on my 2013 Chrysler 300 3.6L Base (just like this car). The Owner's manual says I use Mopar (MS-9602) ATF+4, but everywhere I looked online says I'm supposed to use some crazy expensive European Pentosin CHF11S or Lubegard Complete Synthetic Power Steering Fluid compatible with Chrysler (MS-11655). I have a little whine when NOT turning (waiting at a red light) and steering binds a little and slow to respond at low speeds (like in a parking lot). I figured I'd check the fluid reservoir and top it off if low.... but with what type of fluid? Any help would be appreciated!
If it's under the fender like this car, you'll probably need the expensive stuff.. CHF 11s is cheaper than the Mopar Electronic Steering fluid that you need. It's green. Trust me, I'm going through it with ne Challenger because I thought they were all the same because the label on the bottle says "for all makes and models", but that's a damned lie. I flushed my old fluid with some garbage now I have a low whine.. I sucked all the fluid out and dropped the hoses twice so far with CHF 11s.. I just ordered 3 more liters to flush it some more.
Is Dorman the OEM for these parts for Chrysler? I've had bad luck with Dorman brand parts before, and wouldn't be surprised if one of these assemblies began to leak again in short order.
Dorman is the #1 "aftermarket " supplier of dealer only products. Their parts have been good to me thus far with no problems. But of course you can always get the original part from the dealer which will cost you sometimes just depending on what part you are getting.
I had a question I have a 2013 Chrysler 300 and when I turn the steering wheel it's makes a whining sound there's no leaks I checked and there's fluid in the PSP could it be that the PSP itself is going bad???
I have the same problem i checked and my pump looked good but u hear the whine especially when ur radio off and u turn left or right do u have an email or anywhere i can message u and send u a video to see if u have the same problem
Hey, thank you for posting this very helpful! I have question, my car has started to send "Lost Communication" codes and mostly all error icon appeared in the dashboard when I am driving suddenly the car stop accelerating with noticeable hesitation. the workshop dealer told me the problem from power steering cables! Honestly I strongly do not think it is the cause. What do you think brother?
Hello..thanks and thanks for the question. Could beone of several things...bad computer...ignition coil...spark plugs or wires...evap sensor or clogged injectors
Unrelated note, your voice and accent is very calming, so much so that this video triggered my asmr, which is not a bad thing to happen while I'm underneath my customers car trying to swap out her pump! Nice video!
@@tvterrencetee9460 switched the o rings kept doing it I replaced the whole power steering system still doing it any suggestions on what my next Step should be . Maybe the hoses are bad ?
Ok when you initially fill it up you would want to leave it exposed and crank your car up for a minute and turn the wheels back and forth so that the fluid circulates. Then turn your car off and go back and top off your fluid. If your problem persists then I would suggest taking it to your local dealer
@@tvterrencetee9460 Its not alwayays the fluid or psp thats the issue., NOt sure if you're aware but alot of 300's also have this rubbing groan type noise when turning and the problem is with the steering column's plastic ccouplet rubbing and needs to be cut down and this has nothing to do with the psp or fluid... AND i know because I had to get this steering coupler cut down at the dealer 5 years ago and havingt had the groaning noise while turning since
Just so everybody knows you don't have to take the pump and the bracket off. You don't even have to buy a new reservoir for this job. All you need to do is buy the fluid the two new O-rings undo the four screws while the pump is on the car the reservoir comes off to the side change the O-rings put back together much easier than what this guy just went through. FYI
PLEASE HELP. My 2012 Challenger RT leaked out the power steering fluid and I got a "service power steering" message. The vehicle was towed home. Now with the leak fixed and pump installed. The pump won't engage in order to bleed the system. I've checked fuses and all connection plugs. The error message is still displayed and can't be picked up and cleared with a regular OBD2 scanner. Do I need to have the dealer reprogram/flash the pump? Thank you so much in advance
they don't sell them by themselves , but i found this guy on ebay i bought them for $16. Really hard to find! crazy how they make you buy the whole reservoir just to get to the o rings.
Not certain whether it's the factory fluid or something from the parts manufacturing, but I have a 2014 Chrysler 300 that looked just as bad if not worse. By 70k miles I could barely turn left, had to gorilla wrestle the steering for left turns but was just like new to the right. Turned out the rack was clogged with the same gray garbage.
how much would this job costs? I have a 2011 300c and on the dashboard it said "service power steering" my wheel immediately locked up while I was parking. What can possibly be the problem?
Thanks for the question. From what you described this could mean that your PSP has failed completely. Check under the car by the right front wheel for any visible leaks. If there are none from the PSP and the car is doing this then its a sure thing that you will need to replace the PSP. These pumps can be expensive.
what is the PSP? I'm going to get it look at Saturday. I didn't have this car for a month and dealer talking about power steering is not covered in my warranty smh.
Hahaha, I DONT THINK ITS BAD ITS A $1200 PUMP ...LOL. YOU KILLIN ME. I WISH THAT ALL IT TOOK WAS TO SAY IT. OK I REPLACED MY FLUID, AND NOW 3 WEEKS LATER I CANT STEER THE WHEEL BARELY. IT WAS FINE FOR 3 WEEKS. SO NOW IM A HAVE TO TAKE IT OFF AND SEE IF A GOOD CLEAN WILL DO IT REPLACE THE FLUID AGAIN AND SEE IF THAT WORKS. MY QUESTION IS HOW DO YOU BLEED OUT THE AIR AFTERWARDS? I DIDNT DO IT WHEN I TOOK OUT THE BAD FLUID AND ADDED NEW FLUID AND DONT WANNA HAVE TO TAKE IT APART IF THATS ALL THAT NEEDS DOING.
