Excellent instructional video. Thank you. You assumed nothing and showed step by step instructions. Thank you. Other instructional videos often assume too much of the viewer. Viewers end up searching for better. Glad I found you!
Uhaul uses the really nice 3M ScotchLoks. Dielectric grease is the key to a long lasting connection. To prevent corrosion, I open my ScotchLoks slightly and fill the inside with dielectric grease. I also push some into the end of the wire with my finger. Then I put a thin film on the insulation on both wires to make the knife penetrate the insulation more easily. I also use it to fill butt splices and coat bared wire ends. It makes for a really solid connection.
@@metropulosjerrod On the other side of my connector the male side. the 4 location there is no metal tabs there to pull out to connect the wires to. also the same on a friend truck.
I try this method, but for some reason the connection cable that I have under my transit does not have any power and I check all seven fuses and relays are good. Do you have any idea why I’m not getting power to that connection? thanks.
While you can solder the wires, it is not necessary to achieve a secure and lasting connection as long as you use any scotch locks or butt connectors correctly.
UUGGGHHH PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME🙏 My FORD van has a red wire with green stripe, black wire with blue stripe n two black wires so PLEASE GAWD tell me on the break light im trying to install which wires i connect to the three wires ON THE OPTRONNICS LIGHT solid black which PACKAGE says TAIL. RED wire says STOP/TURN and WHITE wire which says GROUND. IM SO FLIPPING CONFUSED
It is always recomended to test wires for thier functionality and never assume any colored wire contains a particular signal. If your not comfortable testing wires might i suggest scheduling an installation with your local U-haul hitch pro, or purchasing the "quick connect" harness for this specific vehicle that has the wire functionalities correctly placed into the connectors. Its helpful to know some vehicles do not have a separate stop signal but that its built in with left turn signal, and with right turn signal.
@@MrEricwms357 the connection outlet thing for signals. That plug that they hook up. Is it universal? Like can i connect it to any trailer and it will work for turn signals and break signals? Or does it only work on uhaul trailers?
@@MrEricwms357 Most U-Hauls do not offer any wiring have to call around to find one that does. Here in Wabash and Marion Indiana none of them do it. I know one in Kokomo INdiana does and one in Lafayette IN does. But most do not.
