Hello. Have almost the same problem. Freightliner Cascadia 2016 Auto. The truck won't start and the tractor ABS light is on. no check engine light. The dashboard screen does not show the transmission message and the screen just stuck with Underscore marks.
Great information. I have a 2019 Western Star 4700SF with DD13. I will be driving down the road and truck will not accelerate and as I coast to a stop the engine dies. Gauges are all working at this time. I cut the key off to restart, gauges cycle and the DEF goes to red and truck will not crank. As soon as you turn the key the 5 amp fuse for CPC/MCM/ACM, IGN blows. Sometimes you can replace the fuse and it will crank back up and other times it will not. Does this sound like the CPC going bad or does it go bad all at once? I’ve had 3 different mechanics look at it. One repaired wires to the starter, one replaced the PNDB, and the last one checked everything out and said he couldn’t find anything wrong. His best guess was the CPC. Sorry for the long post. Any input/help would be greatly appreciated.
@@truckscanada3715 The mechanic that looked at it yesterday said I did not have any fault codes. Is there a way to test it? I hate to get a new one or have it rebuilt not knowing if that’s the problem.
If the CPC would have a problem it would pop up fault codes! It is impossible not to send any codes! There should be at least inactive codes! Even those matter in putting a proper diagnostic
Hello 👋🏼. I had similar issue with my Freightliner. I had the cpc rebuilt at ERD Ltd in North Carolina. Dealer plugged and programmed the module now the truck starts and runs. Except there is a “no trans” message on my display that doesn’t go away. I noticed that same message on the display of the truck in this video. The rebuilder of the module says the dealer didn’t flash the module thoroughly and dealer says it’s module issue. It doesn’t cause any problems in running the truck, but it doesn’t let my optimized idle function. At the very least it’s annoying. Do you know anything about that “no trans” message on the display after cpc repair/programming? (My truck is manual)
J1939 cannot communicate with trans therefore relaying no trans message to icuc . If you hook up dl8 and the tcm does not connect the cpc will send message via 1939 to icuc stating no trans
@@shaunyb2343 The issue is resolved. Apparently the dealer had to do another '"complete" flash and it is back to normal. The company that rebuilt the cpc module had a generic program on there to test it after the fix, that program was for a truck with an automatic transmission. Once the dealer flashed the cpc and reprogrammed it everything worked fine. My truck has a manual transmission.

Hello! It is very difficult to find a new one! All dealers have a backorder on them! The answer is yes, if you find a second hand CPC you can take it to the dealer and they will program it! The cost for programming is around 275$! Be careful to be the same version you have! If it’s written CPC NAFTA4 you will need a CPC NAFTA4! Best of luck an don’t forget to subscribe! :)
@@mohammedadil6432 yes, you can take it to the dealer and based on your VIN number they know wich version of software they need to install! After that you just connect it to your truck and evrything should be back to normal!

Hello ‘i have Freighliner 2018 automatic’ i had CPC issue’ I tried to start my truck in morning time it was showing truck needs to be in neutral but was already in neutral and ignition work nothing ‘ there was CPC Code 521001 on the screen’ we disconnect the battery then hocked up again we thrown some air in tanks by manually but It won’t started then we had to towed it to shop ‘ can i know how we can avoid it
Hello! In your case solving the CPC issue it’s simple! You don’t have a CPC issue! Your truck has two problems: 1. It’s stuck in gear and prevents the neutral switch to be deactivated to allow cranking! 2. This is due because either a faulty clutch main bearing either a bad calibration of the clutch! To solve the issue for the moment folow like this: 1. Key in ignition, ignition off 2.manualy crank directly from starter for 2sec 3. After that ignition on and start the truck! 4. Didn’t work repeat 1.2.3
I have the same problem. But my truck runs great it doesn't turn off and it will start. When going down the highway the gauges up and down and sometimes stay down as it the truck is not on but it's still running fine. Is that the cpc or jumper wires that connect the gauges. Thanks.
Hi, I’m having trouble with my freightliner 2015 cascadia. When I turn it on the accelerator does not work. We already changed the pedal. But still has the same problem. They told me that it’s going to be my cpc. The problem is that I can’t find one with the same part number A003461002/004. Would I be able to put a different part number on it?
What is important is that the cpc to be the same with yours! It can be CPC CPC4 NAFTA, CPC NAFTA 4 etc! If you find one, just take it to the dealer so they can program it acording to your vin number! Ps: don’t forget to subscribe! :)

Hi Bhupinder, i think you just called me! You cannot rebuilt it! The only solution is to chage the CPC with a new or used one! Both need progrmming before to be intalled in the truck! Call me tomorrow and i will check if i still have a CPC for you!

@@truckscanada3715 Hi, is for a security system, if I interrupt the CPC the truck doesn´t turn off, but if I turn off with the CPC disconnected it will not turn on again, but I would like a way to stop it when is on with the CPC, thanks
Ok, i got it! The best way is not to tangle with the CPC! My advice would be to do an ignition bypass of the starter relay and this way the bypass would work even as a kill switch for the CPC! The CPC is fully operable thru a 12V feed from the starter relay found at the fire wall!

At this time all around central and north america the CPC NAFTA 4 is only backorder for 37 days! The mechanic can be right! If you eant send me a picture with the fault codes just to be sure! Dont forget to subscribe!

Hey, we have a 2015 FRHT Cascadia that is having a similar issue. It was showing red blinking DEF light and when we try to crank, a message comes up saying “Must Be In Neutral to Start Engine”. The truck does not crank and it has been over a week. We got a used CPC that has the same part number but it didn’t do anything, would we have to program CPC if it’s the same part number?
Hi! There is no issue with the CPC in this case! The neutral switch on the transmission is stuck! Turn off ignition and crank the truck directly at the starter, this should unlock the switch and show you in the dash the N sign! It works evrytime for me! The cause for this issue is because you turned off the engine while the transmission was in drive! Best of luck
The mechanics had tried that before we had got it towed here, the other thing is that when our mechanic try’s to hook it up to the computer, he is not able to read anything.
@@RmitLakha that means the MCM and CPC dont power up! Please check the fuses located in the PNDB! You should find one blowen! Also some models of 2015 cascadia have also a fuse on the battery’s! Where are you from?
@@truckscanada3715 My truck recently got this same issue where the driver had been using it and parked it for a few minutes but when he went to turn it back on it wouldn’t crank and the def light was blinking red and not showing any gears on the dashboard not even the N. Once they were able to jump start it we couldn’t move it because it wasn’t showing any gears and wouldn’t move with none of the gauges on the dash working just the fuel gauge. What could be the issue?
Hi, if it is a new CPC, you need to log in to daimler and download the corect mapping based on your VIN number and then write it in the CPC! If it is an old CPC you first need to flash it then you can rewrite the parameters!
Hi Jason! The CPC is the Common Powertrain Controler! A simple response is that is a controler that translates the information related to fault codes that other modules transmit! It also has a small part for diverting voltages between several power sensitive sensors!

@@arivcamacho4817 for sure someone chamged your CPC at one point! The No Trans code comes only when a CPC from an automatic transmission Is installed in a truck with manual transmission and usually is not programmed with the truck! They just replaced it and changed the parameters but did not programmed it according to your VIN number!
