Did you put new coolant on the reservoir tank before you blurp the radiator for air and before staring the engine or is it empty? Thanks
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair Год назад
@@HonNey-xi4ef You start with the reservoir being empty. Once the system is bled then you fill it up with the remainder of the coolant that was used to bleed the system with.

I would recommend using Honda's OEM anti freeze since the price difference is very minimal.

Thanks. I try to use the original manufacturer's coolant whenever and if possible, but there are times I am not able to obtain the original coolant so I end up using something that is compatible instead such as the aftermarket OEM coolant. As of to date I have not had any problems so far with this coolant so I don't see anything wrong with using it.

Very informative question is i have Crv 17 with reservoir and radiator fill all in one. Can i do this process ? But. My concern is if i fill the reservoir and bleed the radiator and take off that funnel the reservoir will overfill more than max what should i do if this process work? Thanks appreciated
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair Год назад
Fill the reservoir/radiator up before starting the engine. After you start the engine just fill it up as much as needed and leave some space for expansion and you should be OK as long as it doesn't get low during the bleeding procedure.
@edmon179
@edmon179 Год назад
When filling reservoir /radiator up to funnel .do i have to use like your funnel and follow your process ? Thanks
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair Год назад
If it's a reservoir that goes into the engine/radiator then you don't need to use a coolant funnel. But if it's the one where you pour directly into the radiator then you need that coolant funnel to prevent air bubbles from entering the system.

One unrelated question, are all 2014 crvs make that engine noise? like ticking. Does it mean it needs valve adjustment?
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair Год назад
It depends what is making the ticking or tapping noise. Some noise is considered normal while the engine is running. However, if the engine sounds very noisy then a valve adjustment is needed. Some Hondas still have and require valve adjustments at 105 k miles/168 k kilometers only if noisy. Either if you have felt a reduction in engine power and/or the engine is noisy then it would need a valve adjustment then to fix the issue. On most other vehicles today there is no valve adjustment since it is hydraulic and automatic and it cannot be adjusted. Valve adjustments is not typically a do it yourself job unless you have extensive experience working on engines. Otherwise, engine damage may occur if done incorrectly.

It is the vtec actuator, in most cases is not necessary to replace it as it can run till 300k miles without a problem

You need another jack on the right-hand rear tire.
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair 9 месяцев назад
No need. I have a jack stand already in place. The vehicle is not going anywhere especially with all those jacks and jack stands on the other corners. The hydraulic jack is just used to lift the vehicle up and the jack stands are supposed to support and secure the vehicle. I just leave the jack there for added safety.

Hey I need help. When I finished doing this my heater from the driver side is still cold. Do you have any answers for that cause? Thanks
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair Год назад
You need to make sure the cooling system is bled properly and that there is enough coolant in the radiator. You will need to bleed the system for longer. The pressure cap needs to be removed and engine running. You may need to raise the RPMs to get all the air out. Let me know if that works. If not then you have some other problem in the cooling system such as a bad thermostat or pressure cap or something else. You could also have a clogged heater core or a stuck temperature blend door if it's only on the driver's side. If it was working before that then you need to bleed the cooling system for longer.
@lokomono89
@lokomono89 Год назад
@@moosemobileautorepair ok cool, I did everything you said so I’m going to guess its the heater core. But what I don’t get is if the heater code is clogged, can the hoses still get hot/ warm. My heater core hose is hot when running so I was thinking it wasn’t clogged. I have a 2012 crv and couldn’t find blend door actuator. Thanks for the reply. Appreciate the help.
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair Год назад
No problem you are most welcome. Find out if the heat was working before you serviced the cooling system/vehicle. If the problem was there before then we know there is something wrong in the system, but if the problem was not there before then it has to be an issue with servicing the cooling system and may need to be bled for longer. Let me know what happens. It's hard to say without looking at the vehicle myself, but those are just a few things to check from what I listed. What does the needle read for the coolant gauge on the dash? Is it warm reading near halfway or is it always cold? Is the engine overheating at all? The driver's temperature blend door can be checked with a high level scan tool to see what it is reading. Normally there will be position numbers on the scan tool. I would check that as well just to be sure. If all of the above checks out OK it is very possible that the heater core may be clogged up/defective. You can try to flush it out FIRST with CLR and water and see if that fixes the problem. There is also a TSB on that CR-V. If flushing doesn't fix the problem then the heater core will need to be replaced. Send me an E-mail at my E-mail address in my Info/About page of my channel and I can forward you the TSB PDF file if you would like to know the procedures. Let me know and good luck.
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair Год назад
The heater core can still be partially clogged even if the hoses feel warm/hot. It seems to be a common issue on those Hondas. I would first check the driver's temperature blend door first with a high level scan tool before condemning the heater core.

My friend has a 2014 crv and his coolant reservoir looses coolant had to refill it and radiator a little what would cause the tank to go close to empty.
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair 8 месяцев назад
I would check the pressure cap on the radiator itself to see if the internal spring is worn out. Remove it once the engine has cooled down and inspect it by pushing the spring if it moves too easily I would replace it. Chances are the pressure cap may be worn out causing the coolant to evaporate. Also, I would do a pressure test on the system to see if there are any leaks and just go from there.

I only use filtered drinking water .
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair Год назад
This jug of coolant already came pre-mixed to 50/50 so no need to add water. Bottled/drinking/filtered/tap water contain minerals and deposits that will damage the cooling system so you don't want to use that unless you are using it to flush out the cooling system or to run it temporarily and replace with the proper coolant. If you are using coolant that is concentrated then you should use distilled water to bring the coolant to a 50/50 mixture or close to 50/50. Using water alone in a cooling system for long term does not provide adequate freeze protection and boil over protection and does not contain any additives to protect the aluminum block and components in the engine and in the cooling system. Thanks for watching!

Oh right 😀. That's never a good idea even if it doesn't get below freezing because there are no additives to protect the engine block.

Hello Sir, what to do if i dont have the tools?
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair 2 года назад
If you don't have the tools it will just make a mess when you bleed the system. Just make sure the radiator is topped up as you are bleeding the cooling system. At least have a drain pan to catch any spills and a funnel if needed.

How often do u recommend this to be changed?
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair Год назад
I'm not sure what the service interval is for the Honda blue coolant, but I would personally change this coolant at least every 80 to 100 k kilometers/5 years at the very least. I would not keep coolant for much longer than that because there is a chance that the coolant can become acidic and cause electrolysis if left in the system for a very long time. So I would recommend to be proactive and change the coolant regularly to be on the safe side and to prevent problems.

Not necessary if you change the coolant on time and at regular intervals. You can if you want by removing the radiator hoses that go to the block and you could flush it out with a garden hose. You only need to do that if you are having problems in the cooling system.

My car is 59640 miles I got it 19750 (coolant is still blue under the lid) I should be fine with just changing the Radiator coolent? Looking to do it within the next hr or so.
@moosemobileautorepair
@moosemobileautorepair Год назад
@@troutmansfinest1 It depends how many years the coolant has been in there. You could always use coolant test strips to check the freeze protection, pH level and reserve alkalinity level. My personal suggestion would to replace coolant at least every 5 years or 100000 kilometers/62500 miles at the very least on long life or extended life coolants such as HOAT or OAT type coolants. On older vehicles that have the green conventional stuff would have to be changed a lot sooner say every 2 to 3 years or 48000 kilometers/30000 miles. You should be fine just doing a regular drain and fill from the radiator unless you want to do the extra step and drain out the rest from the block. Or you could do a drain and fill now and drive it for a while and drain and fill again the next time you do a service or oil change. Coolant do not need to be changed as often as other fluids do, but if you do periodic maintenance you should be OK. Most coolants can go for a very very long time between replacement intervals without any problems. I hope this helps.
