I also chuckled a little that you have a $3200 battery but no socket set. But then my first hacking experience was borrowing my Dad's socket set to modify my bike when I was 5 or 6. When I learned how to adjust the seat and handle bars, I was in heaven. So maybe it's sentimental. I spent a few years working on cars for extra money too, so sockets were vital. I definitely respect your right to use whatever tools you want. But life is short so treat yourself to good tools where it makes sense.

Spends $3200 on batteries. Doesn't spend $30 on a basic socket set. whuh?

True a socket set is key... Working on your bike your electric car maybe... it would come in handy for all kinds of things... You have to work harder with wrenches and pliers. Not picking up a socket set is selling yourself short. Maybe you could ask RU-vid to buy you one.

Flattening old copper pipe can be a great way to connect those cells into a pack. You can measure the thickness to determine its current capacity. Some pipe is too brittle, the soft type that comes on a roll is best. Also the hydraulic wire terminal crimper that I got on amazon for $33 works well.

I could be wrong but didn't you hook up your charger wrong, from right to left isn't it, positive balance negative?? To me it look like there was a bit of red behind the positive and black behind the negative, built-in terminals. I wonder if that extra connection on the back is a thermal feed if there's any way you can utilize it.
@sausagedog52
@sausagedog52 9 лет назад
+redneckbryon there's two cells in each module and the "balance" pin is connected to the internal jumper between the two, so if you only want to connect to one cell this is the correct method.
@ohmslaw3076
@ohmslaw3076 9 лет назад
There's 4 cells per module. Check other RU-vid videos
@sausagedog52

If you have not already, do the maths to work out the power to wight ratio because these might be better for the e trike. Also I would recommend using the larger modal as is in your car and use a step down converter. Saying that you could reconfigure the wiring to make 48V and not have use a step down converter. I would not recommend mixing these with old 18650 cells just to be on the safe side.

it looks a tad heavy i do worry if its to heavy your back end slips out on corners if its on a bicycle. unless its a trike but built strong unlike the one that wrecked. maybe using a trike chassis? from a real motorbike be more up to handling the stresses. had a quick google and found wazp electric drift trikes. something similar made by yourself.

They are AWESOME my friend. Do you have a post box in California yet. So you can have some Jaffa Cakes sent to you? Over here we have quacking weather. Could you send some of your weather over here? LOL. I am looking forward to how you configer those cells and what you get out of them. Our QXA did 12 days. When it reached 10,6V. It is now on on day 16 of solar recharge. With one 45 watt panel facing south out of the hall window @ 45deg angle. The other 4 making 60 watts on the Lab roof facing south @ 45degs also. Add to that we have only had 5 days of sunshine so far since the 23rd October. The QXA cells are at 3.8V. I am looking forward to see how long it takes that one of yours to charge using the IMax. Have an amazing day my friend.

+Raymond Earle imagen how long it would take with solr in the uk i have 40 watt panel at 5 volt charging a 150+ah battery pack and well i charge my phone off it and use it to power a bedside light and well the voltage is getting lower and lower i need more power from the panels lol
@MYNICEEV
@MYNICEEV 9 лет назад
Yes I am finding that the UK weather depletes your solar charging ability a lot durring winter. It is great to hear from you my friend.
@1981dasimpson
@1981dasimpson 9 лет назад
+Raymond Earle i need to align mine proper for the south and winter degree at moment they mounted to a vertical wall they do ok at that angle for sunny days but when the bed rainy weather comes in i get nothing im thinking of running a water wheel from the gutter run off for that little extra only running a 3.6 volt pack helps keep things simple and able to use more more to generate the lower voltage
@MYNICEEV
@MYNICEEV 9 лет назад
Running at lower voltage then series the cells was my thought too. That is how the QXA is wired and the automatic charger is designed for that system. 4V is easier to generate at high current than any higher voltage. I have to reconfigur my panels too. I still have another 45Watt to go online.

@terjeoseberg990
@terjeoseberg990 6 лет назад
To get to 500 Watt hours with 25,000 mAh these would need to be 20 volts. 20V * 25A = 500 Watts So if these are 20V batteries, and can supply 500 Watts for 1 hour, they have to be 25,000 mAh.

ThinkDragonX41T i dont see 20v on there at all. you talk about volts with enough amps as if it matters. unless your stabbing the electrodes into your heart, 20v DC isnt going to kill you. i get shocked with 60v DC all the time and its not too bad.
@ThinkDragonX41T
@ThinkDragonX41T 9 лет назад
+Rinoa Super-Genius I know thats thers is not written 20V exaclty its the fact that the current kills not the voltage. Even 20v and over 0,2A on the right spot can cause muscle Paralysis so that you couldnt go away and the thing will cause breathing difficultys and heart spasm. DC is al lot more dangerous as AC from the socket with 50 or 60 Hz.
@RinoaL
@RinoaL 9 лет назад
ThinkDragonX41T no its your resistance coupled with voltage that kills you. you could die from 1v if you had super low resistance. but human skin has really high resistance so even 250v is possibly survivable. no DC is less dangerous than AC, AC is far worse. have you ever used electricity before?

I like your videos but I have a problem with these smart car batteries what do you do with these cars when you can't use them anymore? Because they don't degrade into the earth. I just don't have the same opinion as people who like these cars because they aren't really environmentally friendly once you can't use them anymore. But other than that I'm not hating on all your videos just on the electric cars carbon copy how they aren't earth friendly in their final stage in their lifetime.
