I own one of these 2013 models used. At nearly 5000 lbs, it gets 26 mpg in the city and 29 on the highway. Not many full sized SUVs can come close. Just replaced the rear brakes for the first time at 128k miles. It’s a unicorn, but I love her.

I talked about the Diesel Cayenne's US debut in a video last year. It's about time you guys in the states get to feel how great these engines are. Here in germany they are extremely popular. I've never been disappointed by a modern diesel in a german car...

Martin M you can get them with the car. But since all the rims that were on the car were curbed we got new ones for free. So we asked if we could get these instead. So yeah got them afterwards.

you would also love The diesel S version, which i think is the best version of the cayenne honestly. price performance, fuel economy, expandable fuel tank, even sounds great. Even the international anti-cayenne authority top-gear uk rates it high and loves it.

I've never seen a transmission skip gears that much. Saw a lot of 5th to 8th jumps and back down. I wonder if it's to save as much fuel and be as efficient as possible, looks very high tech. This video's are much more informative then you'd think.

I also love it. Personally, I think its the best overall SUV on the market. However, the major downside are the damn options. RIDICULOUS! They start off at around 60k, but to get the good options you can easily spend more than 90k.

more torque which means better throttle response. also the fuel economy is much better because diesels dont rev as high and probably some other reasons

I think Porsche's diesel versions come out only with V6 engine. Btw the nicest thing was hearing the sound of the Porsche diesel looked like a v8 on pump gas but it wasn't! I prefer the tobacco color interiors!

S version sounds so much better than this with the V8, Diesel S ftw, i am an advocate for the diesel S, i think it is a real winner. best out of all the cayenne models. your really give nothing up except a high price-tag with it, performance, great sound and good fuel economy + extended fuel tank option.

Aren't those 295/35 r21 tires too wider and heavy for this engine? Personally I run 275/35 r20 on the same engine in Audi A8 and is a little bit too much for the engine compared with the 235/50 r18 wich runs very smooth. In terms of fuel efficiency I gain 1 litre per 100 km with the narrower tires. 5.3L/100km with 235 compared with 6.3L/100km with 275.
