Awesome video man!!! Thank you for taking the time to let everyone know what your thoughts are… you have helped me make my decision. 2013 v star 950 6k miles with bags, windscreen and crash bars 5500$ I think I’m taking it
I love this bike, i bought mine in 2022, its from 2014 and i bought it with 10.000 Miles on it. i am 188cm tall and its perfect to ride. I have a Miller exhaust with a racing db eater, perfect. i ride it in Europe, mostly in switzerland and in the black forest in Germany...perfect....i love it
I have the same model, I have added a Windshield and Sissy bar. I don't ride every day but I do like the bike. I haven't had any issues yet, I am coming up on 2 years with it. My previous bike was a Harley Dyna super glide. I also had to bore out the baffles because it was too quiet and I couldn't get the pipes yet. Thanks for the review. Hampton, Ga
I have a 2009 like yours. I bought mine this past May with 20,000 miles and I have put 6400 miles on it. I live in Wisconsin so it's in til spring. I love mine. Awesome bike I agree with you, I'm 5'6" and fits me great. Nice reveiw. Ride safe.
I have a 2012 Touring version of this bike and I totally love it! I ride it in Nicaragua (Central America) and have had no issues at all. I came from a 2007 Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 and was really skeptical at first about going to an air cooled bike but I have sat in stop and go traffic in Managua (capital city of Nicaragua) for over two hours straight in extreme heat without any problem. Could I feel the heat on my legs? You bet! But did the bike overheat? Nope! Now I'm glad that I don't have to worry about coolant levels, water pump, fans, etc.
Star / Yamaha make some great looking bikes ,then fuck it all up with the worst looking pipes ive ever seen . The bolt is another good example . Just putting some v&h pipes and after market intake on my bolt made a world of difference ..By the way , very nice bike Dave .
Do you still have it? More importantly do you still like it? I am thinking about getting a 2015 closeout in 2017 for 5900. Do you think that is a decent deal? Does it handle pretty well?
you still have this bike ? I'm about to get one same as yours and wanted to know how reliable is it after this years of Cours if you still have it . thanks !!
Sorry for the very late comment David She looks a nice bike, unlike like you im thinking of one of these second hand as my final rather than first bike after 50 years of riding. I realise you may have changed bikes by now, but how have you found it reliability wise and build . Many thanks LEE ....Stay safe happy new year
Nice bike, I love mine! I got a couple videos of the accessories I installed on it. You will love it! I highly recommend the seat to be your first mod on it!
+Anthony Walden I went with a rush slipon, it is great for around town riding (very loud!). I kept my OE slip on for long road trips because the loud exaust gets old after a bit!
I have 2013 950 V Star tourer. Added crash bars, mustang seat, sissy bars. Passenger foot boards, high windshield and extra light bar on front. Excellent bike and have 9,000 miles with no issues. Oh put Cobra slip on it. Sounds great and cruises great. Thumbs up Man!!
Great vid. I just upgraded from the virago 250, shake rattle and roll at 55mph. I got the 950 touring model. Won't do the hwy without windscreen. I got Cobra pipes. Had Vance. And Hines on my harley sportster, the Cobras seem just as good. I ride AT LEAST 5000 miles every summer I'm in Chicago . I'm loving the 950 v twin. Keep on truckin
Uriel1816 The meaning of motorcycle bells is often associated with little gremlins and/or demons that hide along the highways and sabotage motorcycles, causing bikes to crash. But their history goes back, way back. ... American pilots adopted the gremlin folklore and even claimed to have seen them just before a crash or malfunction.
Love that color scheme, stainless lowers and flat black. They painted and sealed the tank graphics on the tank, due to fuel spillage, and people clean the tank more often than the rear fender.
This helped so much! I've had such a hard time finding something that would fit me, being 5'4 and my husband has a 2012 stratoliner but it is tooo big for me. Thanks!!!!
Love that color. Wish they made this style of bike with a bigger engine. Thinking of getting one myself. Looking at this one, the kawasaki Nomad, or the Yamaha roadliner.
It’s a cool bike for commuting. It lacks “umph”. It was my first bike. I ride a Dyna with a 103 CI. Not as smooth, but definitely notice the power difference. But the 950 is a really cool bike. I miss mine.
Nice review! I have the same year and model. Love mine , only regret is I didn't go ahead and get the 950 touring model. I put the Vance & Hines slipon Love the sound now. Don't have an issue at all with the mirrors.
Would you say this is a good starter bike for someone without any riding experience. I plan to take the MSF course in the spring and after seeing this video would like to get one.
hey I'm looking at getting my first bike and I really love the look of this bike. My concern is I'm 6ft tall And I was wondering if it would fit me. I appreciate the video makes !e want that bike even more.
I ride a 2014 650 V star classic, my first bike as well, and I'm 5'11. It was uncomfortable after getting used to the bike. So I needed a change desperately. There are a few places in the USA where you can order extension brackets online. I ordered 4" extensions and what a great change it was. It came with everything I needed except tools and lock tight. Plus, I'm able to adjust the tilt of my floorboards as well. I'm getting something bigger in a few years but until then my bike is comfortable enough to ride.
