He is one of my friends. we were in the same guitar society in our University. I can 120% guarantee you THIS IS NOT A SET UP. He is a super big fan of Jason Mraz but also an amazing singer by himself AS WELL! And the ones who care about this random guy was set up or not, I feel sorry for you that you didn't enjoy the joy of music but focused on something boring. JUST ENOJY THIS MASTERPIECE, GUYS :)
The way he shake, the way he dance, the way he sing, the way he smile. Guess it will be the most unforgettable moment in his life. I smile from ear to ear watching this video :)
watch him closely ppl, he was sing a DUET with Jason, he didn't get carried away and sing over Jason's voice, instead they were in perfect harmony. This goes to show you how amazing when two music loving singers come together and just ENJOY THE BEAT DAMMIT
I'm reading the comments and a lot of people are saying that it's staged and shit. What? a random guy can't be talented? This is a concert, fools. There are bound to be musically inclined people there.
Meh... they just say that because it happens regularly with superstar musicians these days... they will select a "random" audience member who just happens to be an amazing singer. See: Josh Groban.
The most impressive part is that he didn't fuck up on the shaker when he started singing! Anyone who has tried to play a percussion instrument with a song like that knows how quickly your sense of tempo can go to hell if you are trying to play something while singing. I cannot believe this dude managed to play the shaker at the right tempo with hardly any mistakes whatsoever, while also singing the best live harmony to "Be Honest" that I've ever heard. I would give anything to record something with this dude. He is fucking fantastic!
Ah, point of correction Placid--if not also a deliberate double entendre. There's no evidence that Stan has yet to agree to sing with John Legend, despite John's inroads having seen this masterpiece with Jazon Mraz ; - )
This guy, I can tell you, was no staged, as the fellow said in below. He's also a friend of mine, we collaborated and shared some wonderful performing experiences together about 6 months ago. A wonderful singer, nice person and a great friend. For those trolling on his "being gay," "being Chinese," or "must've had a white gf," I feel sorry for you. First of all, Taiwan is a country, not a part of China. Second, why does his private life bother you? Whether he's any of the above guesses, it's none of your business. Just save the time and enjoy the music! Mraz and he had such a surprisingly good time onstage. :-)
Hmmm, I always considered Taiwan seperate from China. I know ROC stands for Republic of China -- but I've never met a Taiwanese person who called themselves Chinese. And let's be honest, they are quite different places. Edit: Oh and it's awesome that you know this guy, Stan is the man
Oh my god those harmonies. Going to recycle everyone else's comment that this is my favorite video on the internet ever. Dude, that little shaker resolution he does at 3:04. GOLD. Ugh this video.
share with you some posts on facebook proving this wasn't staged for those who don't read Chinese, this guy did brought a shaker to the concert cuz he wanted to enjoy the concert. He walked pass the stage after going to the loo and Jason asked him to join. He asked him to bring his shaker cuz he has noticed the sound of the shaker for a while 1.
What I love the most about this is that Stan, the fan, has absolutely no stage fright, from the very second he steps into the limelight. It's like he was _born_ to play that shaker on stage with Jason Mraz. He immediately gets into the groove and gets his hips into it, before the song even starts playing. His timing and performance are impeccable, and he has as much stage presence as Jason Mraz. Most of all, he's clearly having fun up there, and if he had any nerves before, they're long gone. My favourite video on the internet. No exaggeration!
I hope Jason Mraz remembers Stan the shaker man. I know it is 2019 and almost 2020 but I still keep watching this. I spent many summers in Taiwan growing up. Wonderful to see how everything is progressing through the years. What a wonderful performance. Wishing Stan and Jason Mraz all the best!
He's extremely talented. Incredible sense of rhythm, Incredibly musical. Made the song so much better! Wish there was a version of this. Harmonies are beautiful.
I don't know what algorithm brought me to this video. But it sincerely is one of the most wonderful things I've ever seen on the internet. Love to all.
Incredible footage! Similar to this fellow, I was once brought on stage at a Celine Dion concert during her final song. You see I had been patiently waiting for her to perform "My heart will go on", and when I heard her announce that she would be ending with "That's the way it is", I threw a fit. My face went purple as I screamed relentlessly at her while throwing my weight around in a very aggressive manner. I closed my eyes and swung my tree-trunk like arms wildly causing several folks near me to get knocked out. People fled from my wrath and pretty soon I was left standing with empty space in every direction for about 20 feet, people weren't even watching Mrs. Dion anymore, instead they gazed in horror at the monster I had become. I guess I caused a pretty big commotion because Celine stopped the performance and asked security to bring me on stage. As Security aggressively escorted me on stage, I was so happy I started crying. Here I was on stage with one of my idols, tears streaming down my face and the blood of innocent bystanders dripping from my arms. It was in that moment that I realized this was my chance to show Celine my love. I went in for a kiss, but Security pulled me back and locked my arms behind me. She then proceeded to berate me, criticize my behavior and tear my self-esteem a new one in front of 30,000 people. When she was done, she told security to escort me off the premises before she continued the concert. They dragged me out to the parking lot and told me if I tried coming back in I would be arrested. I laid flat on the ground in the parking lot, I didn't feel sad, I didn't feel angry, I just felt that something inside me, something very dear to me had forever changed. I called Mom, took it out on her and then ordered her to come pick me up. Haven't been to a concert since. Ciao.
DaantJ009 He is being an "agent provocateur" and his comment is in no way genuine. He is part of a sad group of trolls that likes to mock socially awkward internet users.
You know coming back to watch this video is just amazing. Stan is in his element up on that stage. You can just tell he has a really great understanding of music because of how he knows when to use his shaker, when not to, and how he can perfectly compliment Jason's voice with his voice, without overpowering him.
I first saw this video on a video called "top singers surprised fans skills" this guy is my favorite. I love his voice and it's a shame we don't hear him that much.
i don't know why but everytime i watch this.. this just put a smile on my face.. every time! especially the minute when Mraz realised that this Stan CAN sing! way to go Stan~~~
I simply love this. I don't know why it makes me tear up. Between the song and the special moment of magic. This version is so much more organic than the one on Jason Mraz channel . The smile you glimpse on Stan's face as he realizes it's real ( that OMG moment)~ you have to catch it from this angle. Everyone in life should get this moment. This is a story Stan will be telling his grandchildren. Wishing more good things for you Stan.
Well, I damn love how spontaneous these moments are , I love Jason's surprise face when realising that the guy not only knows how to shake it :) There's is so much undiscovered talent out there, and that makes me happy!
I can't help to smile every time I see this amazing video. Jason is so great the way he welcomed this very talented young man to join in. It's just such a great, warm, spontaneous moment in time. Don't over think it. Just sit back and enjoy it again and again and again.
Home dude needs a gig. That was astounding. Not many people can get up on stage and out shine the artist. He so did with that smile alone. Loved it! Thanks for sharing.
You can see Jason being so surprised at the start at how he can sing backup so well and get all the inflections and everything and after the time the guy did his solo singing Jason just enjoyed the duet with his unexpected partner.
Every time I watch this video, astrong feeling of extreme happiness arises from the bottom of my heart. What an unforgettable moment for the people there (crycrycry
