How’s the quality of the overall unit? In terms of speed and accuracy, the frequency of technical glitches, crashes etc. You mainly went over the pros in this video, but what are some cons to be aware of besides the bug with the AC.
I bought this devices and probably it came with a lot of flaws, there’s a little car popping up every single second, the maps doesn’t even recognize US as an option map and other stuffs that I don’t understand.
Wow, loving that 10" screen! I have 8" on my VW cc and bought another 8" vw radio for my F150 with metra kit, with a minimal mod I manage to get 8" screen on the F150.... But that 10" looks sweet! Congrats!
Just wanted to say thanks for the video. Have been looking into buy a Chinese Android unit for my VW golf, and it looks like it's probably made by the same company as the UI looks the same from the screen shots they've posted. Glad to see it looks like everything is actually pretty smooth.
This is the clearest review on an Android head unit I've found so far. Integration with the vehicle's CAN bus like that is something I haven't noticed in conventional aftermarket radios. Normally one has to buy add-on boxes and what not to make the door chimes and steering controls work. Did you have to buy all of that stuff extra or did it come with/part of the head unit?
Thank you for a comprehensive review. I understand the computer takes about 30 seconds to boot. Do you have to wait that long for the plain FM radio to work?
Question Do you lose HD radio & play back? Do you lose any cars setting as well? Did you install it? You should how to install it. It looks like it as a small delay in the touchscreen does it? The only thing I can see as a problem is that it needs more RAM 1gb is not enough.
+Edwin Viruet You won't find HD radio functionality in any android head units because of codec licensing. All the cars settings are retained, but their option buttons are scattered in a couple menus and have been translated to chinese, then back to english, so they're not the most understandable. not a huge delay in touch response www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/3j6jht/i_recently_did_an_install_of_a_cheap_chinese/ www.toyotanation.com/forum/377-11th-generation-2014/1172626-android-headunit-project.html imgur.com/a/VLvTL
hello , thank you detailed review . I have few questions. 1, is it easy to install it ? 2, does the play store works ? 3, does the Google offline maps works ? 4, does okay google command works ? 5, did you get any updates after installing it? 6, do we miss any functionality if this is installed
A couple of questions. Were you able to figure out if you can connect the GPS cable from the car? Also, can you insert your own SD CARD? Lastly, the units on sale have 5.1.1, were you able to update yours to that? And is there a forum with information on how to do that? Thank you so much for the video! I'm about to buy this and do it myself :)
My car didn't have a built in GPS, so I'm not sure. The new head unit uses an SMA connector, so you might be able to just get an adapter. You can put in your own MicroSD card, just make sure to format it the same way as the old one, and copy all the files off the old one too. I sold my car before I heard anything about these head units getting 5.1.1. All information about flashing an update is on xda-developers. You have to be technically minded to update it, or you can risk bricking it by flashing the wrong MCU Best option is to ask the sellers if they have a software update for the unit they sell, or to ask xda-developers. Google search "hui fei type xda"
Thanks for the quick reply Tyler. Just drove my car and realized that I set up which doors get unlocked via keyless entry through the OEM unit. Were you able to change those settings with this Android unit as well?
I have the Chinese Android headunit 10 inch android 10, kunfine of-v2151q and I hate it. But I love it. None of my functions work. Well steering wheel functions half work half don't work. But the unit in entirety doesn't function as promised. The sound quality changes dramatically at any time, almost blowing my speakers it jumps so loud. I have no idea how to or what canbus to choose its more of a headache than one bargains for.
Hey Tyler, can you please give us an update? I just bought one with android 7.1 2GB of ram and a PX3 Quad core cpu for my 2015. Did the back up camera plug and play or did you have to splice into any wiring? Thanks!
Apologies if this question has already been asked but do the steering wheel phone specific buttons work with the unit? Does the voice command button work with the unit as well? Thanks!
daaaaaaamn. nice unit. just one question. i see that it has wifi connectivity. can u use your phone as a router and have internet connection that way instead of getting the usb?
Sir can you tell me who did you connected the obd 2 connection I have same model player but I don't know who to connect the obd 2 which is showing that door is opened and vehicle mileage.
Hello sir, the rear camera does not work with this new device, the CAN BUS RECODE I recived from the seller it is for toyota Prado 2014 and my car it is toyota corolla 2016 ... you think that is the cause why my back camera does not work?
Hi I found your video very helpful. I have to say it look reallly cool. I plan to buy one of this kind head unit from Ebay too for my 2011 subaru forester. I have some questions? did you install the unit yourself? if so how difficult it is? if you let the car shop people do it how much will they charge? the seller from ebay told me that the unit I plan to buy is plug and play. I do not have to do and rewire. is it really that way in your case. sorry asked a lot of question.
+Ge Yifan I installed it myself, I didn't have to rewire it. If you let someone else install it, it would probably be 75-150, up to 300 if they have to rewire it.
I have same head unit for my car. I have an issue from couple of days, the screen can not turn on, also backup camera not showing, side buttons turns on when I turn on my car but screen totally black. Any fix please mention. Thank you
@ 10:07 min you show Auto mate with you contact how you do that ,why i connect my phone via Bluetooth the to the unit auto mate doesn't see my phone or contact ,how do you pair your phone
Can you use the oem microphone and GPS antennae? I have those, how about XM? I see the screen is kind of low res, 1024x600, does it look bad watching videos or is it alright?
Few questions, is the screen glass or plastic? can you add a battery so it wont turn off when you turn off your car? how about tethering with your phone for data? does it come with OBDII integration? how you connect it to the CANBUS so it can read the steering and the shift?
screen is tempered glass, same used in android tablets. it's capacitive touch. I don't think getting an extra battery would be a good idea, it uses a lot of power with the amps, fan, screen, and board. You can connect to any wifi network, so yes tethering will work. no obdii integration, but it has canbus for backup camera trajectory, door ajar status, and heating/cooling settings.
There's no way to power just the unit and not the speakers and stuff? also I guess you could use one of those bluetooth OBD adapters with an OBD android app, or it doesn't have bluetooth?. What about other connections? does it have internal USB ports? how about storage, SD cards? SATA ports?
I'm not sure, can't remember. Yeah OBD adapters work for mine, it has bluetooth, several internal usb, sd cards read the post on toyotanation for more info
Hi, If you want the head unit won't turn off when you turn off the car, you can have a look at the android 6.0,when you turn off the car, the head unit will enter into a sleep mode:www.amazon.com/dp/B06XFX51LX There is an OBD on our shop, you install the torque bluetooth app in the apk installer.there are three USB ports, the head unit also come with a free 8G SD card.
Just so we are clear... it comes with absolutely everything I need to install this unit? Backup camera connection on the head unit is plug and play with my existing backup camera?
Yes, but you have to trim some plastic to make it fit 2014-2016 corollas. Backup camera works out of the box, there's a CANBUS adapter that converts all those signals.
i have some problems with the cration and installation of my google acount, wath do you recomend me, fot install the services of google market. thaks from Venezuela
+Tyler Watthanaphand can you give the actuall model number that you used in your corolla? I have a 2014 US version, and when I go to the wedrivestore-usa ebay store, I see 3 different versions. I want to ensure that the one I get comes with the corolla specific trim.
+Tyler Watthanaphand how is the navigation function when paried to your cell. Can you email me for a quick conversation about s few of the functions? im ready to order it, but concerned about the "Torque" function and applicability. jeepinguy AT gmail.com
Thank you very much for the video and all the comments helped me make this stereo installation easy. Everything seems to work fine except for the bluetooth audio to listen songs but as a phone bluetooth works and I can hear the voice in the stereo. Also, I don't seem to have make the audio work while connecting phone through USB port. When I use one of the stock A2DSP bluetooth app it has bluetooth audio seems to work but only can hear on the right side of the speakers. Any suggestions in this regard to solve this issue would be very helpful.
Thanks for the reply, I was able to figure out that I need to change the amplifier settings ignorer to make the audio balanced. I also figured with iPhone you can't play the audio thorough USB cable to the HU and has to rely on bluetooth instead.
Guruprasad A B hey Is ur stereo still working good? Cause I'm thinking about buying one, mine stop working,I have Corolla 2014,if u would reply that would be great thaks
Daniel Solé I tried on my unit, unfortunately no... but it would be cool. however he might have a defected unit because my unit shows the correct temperature
Need help with the reverse camera. I purchased a universal reverse camera. hook it up to the deck but it's not working. When I select DVrec I get a exclamation mark and when I switch AVIN which I believe is camera mood I get the same thing. And nothing happen when I put the car reverse. Is there a setting I have to enable in software for it work or can somebody type out a guideline to help me out
Hello Tyler, this team of 10 "is perfect in the new board of Toyota Corolla 2019 and what brand and model is that team, but which one do you recommend, Toyota Corolla 2019 USA
Hello my friend I've a question for u this ready works on the corolla 2014 L (basic)? For example my ac Bottoms are different than yours please let me know bro
i need to uninstall google maps app so as to install it on the sd card so as to download the offline map. but i can move the app to the sd card nor cant i uninstall it. plz help
Inspector Gil just installed mine yesterday super easy, no instructions but it's literally plug and play.. as for what you are talking about it. it comes with it and it plugs directly into the unit
+teeemack Just as any other aftermarket car part. your warranty is only void on things that you break. If a toyota dealer see's this head unit, they won't void your entire car's warranty, they won't void anything unless you tell them it's broken, and they discover you broke it.
How did you fit the radio unit inside the center console, I bought one of this radio on amazon but it doesn’t seem to fit. Can you do a install tutorial or help me out. I bought “Android 6.0 Car Stereo for Toyota Corolla 2014 GPS Navigation Radio with 10.1 Inch IPS Touch Screen 2G Ram and 32G ROM” on amazon
Would this work for a toyota corolla 2014 L the base modle doesn't have a rear view camara but i was planning on installing one and replacing the stock radio with one of these. Or something similar. I was also wondering if i can use my phone as a wifi hotspot for this tbing to use.
Just installed one of these in my friends 16 corolla last night and it didn’t fit at all we had to drill a hole in the dash and file down the hazard button. We were not able to install the trim pice around the vents. Did you have any problems with yours?
I only had to file down a small plastic tab on the head unit. Otherwise it fit perfectly. It's possible they changed the dashboard at some point during the 2016 model year.
Yeah the top middle tab on the top of the unit literally had nothing but a blank to go in to. So we had to drill it out. And apparently there is some box you need to buy for apple carplay? What is that about?
@@GXKid06 You drilled into your dash? I just chopped the nub off the stereo. Also, carplay didn't exist when these android head units came on the market. So any "carplay addon" is likely a hack of sorts, not meant to be super reliable. Those addon boxes mimic an entire carplay head unit, and just send the screen over USB to an app you download on the head unit. I've never tried them personally.
Tyler Watthanaphand well we were worried about if we needed to send the unit back we cant cut the unit. And they said carplay was a feature on the website when we bought it. But apparently you need to buy a separate “box” that plugs in to the usb. Im a bit disappointed with the whole thing to be honest.
@@GXKid06 You can probably return it on the grounds that it said it came with carplay and didn't. Where did you buy it from? If you want carplay, I would get a Sony XAV-AX5000, or XAV-AX100. You'd have to build your own dash kit, and wiring harness though. I don't plug and play carplay radios exist.
