2014 Acura RLX Test Drive Review 

I've purchased two TL's brand new from my local Acura dealership. Drove them from 2002-2010. The main thing I've noticed plaguing the RL is the appeal factor. The RL has always been sort of a niche in the market car. That's not a recipe for selling volume which is why you're in the business. Why I still say Acura offers more for your money than other luxury brands its still missing things like a proper V8 when you step into that class. At least offer it as an option.

having an Acura dealer be honest during a review on the Acura RLX is like asking Bill Gates if Microsoft is better than Apple.

Nice review Scott but as rsx said it would be nice to see shots of the dash, instruments, interior storage etc but still a good job at presenting this great looking car.

Acura builds the kind of cars you can drive for 10 years and still enjoy getting behind the wheel every day. Just three questions: Does the 2014 RLX have four-wheel steering? Is is still available with super-handling all wheel drive? When will Acura debut the 2014 TL (TLX)?

The Krell system does not play DVD audio amazingly enough. I'm not sure what they were thinking but I guess your MP3's and CD's will sound great?

That brake hold feature is nice and on some BMW models like the X5-D,

Can you provide some feedback on the led headlights? When Cadillac started using them on the Escalade Platinum a Hella engineer who helped develop those headlights admitted they were still not as good as HID. Are the newer systems really better than HID?

While styling is not bad it's a bit bland to me. For that class Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Infiniti and Lexus all offer more stylish cars in that class. To me a car is not only a financial decision when you get to this class but an emotional one. No one needs a $50k + car.

3.5 is a pretty strong engine...

Will the model seen on the video have AWD as an option or will that only be offered on the hybrid model?

Does it have heated and cool seats?

I don't think it can play DVD-A, but it understandable, DVD-A is basically dead, you can't find them in any retail store, there are not many to choose online, there are no new DVD-A slated for future release either. Why would they bother spending the extra money to allow it to play a dead format, you need a different laser to play DVD-A. Same with SACD, you can hardly find them and they are not making new ones. It is basically like a video player not playing HD-DVD discs, there is no need.

Do the headlights move like on the RL?

Upon reading about the RLX specifications elsewhere, I noticed the car does not have a temporary spare tire, but a tire repair kit and air pump. Since I'm not a fan of this, I was wondering if Acura dealerships supply spare tires and jacks as a dealer installed option. If so, is there space under the floor mat to completely enclose it? Thank you so much.

IMO...manufacturers are producing cars for the lazy driver. Driving is an engaging activity and Drivers should be AWARE of all aspects. Making it easier for drivers to become lazier and lazier is why we have folks who believe they can do everything other than drive when they are behind the wheel.....

Acura . Styling is nice, but can be more sleeker, its a little boring, still don't have the appeal that Acura Legend had.

It will sell, but Acura will NEVER catch up to their competitors with their boring design language lately. It's a good looking car, but it's not a show stopper. If they seriously want to compete with the big boys, they need to design a show stopper. The 2004-2008 TL was a show stopper, that's why Acura was #2 behind bmw, for sales of entry level luxury cars. After that, Acura lost its mind, and the low sales is evidence of that.

That's 2006-2011 Toyota Camry headlight shape. Such a waste of redesign.
