Doing this swap right now, he definitely makes this look very easy, i am not an audi tech but i have worked on my fair share of audi's and believed i was confident enough to work on a q7. he leaves out a lot of valuable details such as access points for everything. Im not sure if the layout on the q7 he's working on is different but it was almost impossible for me to get to ANYTHING on the motor from the bottom, the transfer case, subframe and everything else pretty much blocks everything, i ended up pulling the right side exhaust manifold AND motor mount bracket to get that starter out, now im have access to the torque converter, if getting to the exhaust bolts themselves wasnt hard enough already i was pretty much doing everything from the top of the motor, idk how anyone with hands bigger than mine was able to get to half the bolts behind and beside this motor. great video, the swap would probably be a lot easier for me the next time i do it but a little more detail on how you were able to get to everything and SOCKET SIZES would have been helpful too, i was working with 4 different size 10 point sockets(16, 17, 18, 21mm)just to get any of the started and transmission to engine bolts out, such careless design in my opinion. more than likely i will turn away this job like i shoulve if i ever get offered it again, ill have to be pretty desperate for money to do this one again...
Awesome job. You've got great skills. Love that you started it up at the end. Thanks for showing that the engine can be swapped from the top! I am going to do an 08 Touareg 3.6l out of the top, easier than the V8. Watching you do this is a confidence builder. 😜
Well done and thank you for sharing. A few questions: 1- How long did it take to remove the original engine? 2- What causes you to swap engines? 3- Was the replacement a rebuilt or used/pulled from another vehicle? 4- How did you turn the engine to access the 6 torque convertor bolts? Thanks again Kay Auto!
Thanks for sharing the video. Very detailed and informative. Definitely a confidence builder. If you live near me I would like to have you swap my 2017 Q7 3.0T as well
Why did you have yo remove all the wiring from the motor? All you need to do is to remove the loom that comes from engine ECU and live all the wiring on the motor.
Great job man. I have a 2008 Q7. 4.2liter with the same problem and I’m trying to decide what to do. Great job. Do you know any good shops in the Atlanta GA area?
