SHORT ANSWER: If you live in a state that tests for emissions.. run from any diesel automobiles with a dpf and ESPECIALLY A EGR!! IMPORT OR EXPORT. If you live in a non emissions state GET A DIESEL AND DELETE THE ENTIRE EMISSION STSTEM it’s illegal but if your not comfortable with doing that.. JUST BUY A GAS CAR!! Don’t forget about leaking sunroofs and the whole emissions system and don’t forget clogged heater cores EVER WINTER no heat 🙄 because the EGR cooks the coolant now after the emissions update. Save your money and get a gas one if you really want THIS car. Tdi buy backs with the update are a hard pass for me I drove mine for 140k after the update. my car was a 2013. Your wallet will regret a diesel car. I now own a gas station wagon and it’s great no special service ,no looking for gas stations with diesel ,and no stupid heater core replacement that I did every time winter came because I drove to work with no damn heat. Want to save more money buy a Honda.!
LOL this shit makes me happy Im a mechanic and can fix all this easily, also I hope most people that buy a TDI are planning on actually towing and using it for what its meant for not just to drive around
My Audi Q7 2014 died on a hill. We were the 2nd owner it went to the dealer and a master mechanic and it did not make it to 100k. I loved that thing sighhhhh it literally went electrical haywire and wouldn’t shift into drive.... just wow. Got a 2022 X5 45e plug-in hybrid. Great vehicle just not the same tho. Nottttt complaining to be clear just miss the big black Bertha Audi
Honestly q7 gen 1 my12> is the best all-rounder car ever made. With real quattro last great "analog" car. I have had new cars hybrids all kinds of new tech high end cars but went and bought a q7 2012. Have had it for 4 years now wich is a long time for me. Sadly they are killing it with taxes here😢 I rearly se q7s. I saw one last week. And said thats our q7. Looked awsome grey with grey 21" inch rs6 rims n black trim. She said - noooo thats a newer model 😂 It was the same and I have 22" rs6 rims and black paint chrome trim. A lot of car for the money. We also use six seats.
Inaccurate info on the engine oil. Recommended OCI is 10K miles (some choose to go shorter of course) but the oil type must meet VW 507 spec otherwise the DPF will become face plugged with ash.
I couldn't agree more. The gen 1 q7 is way more beautiful than the gen2. Gen2 looks like a brick on wheels. absolutely no style. the bentayga suffered the same fate at launch, although the newer facelift models kinda work. I'll still pick it last after a Range Rover or GLS Maybach
Beautiful Audi Q7 I own a 2009 Q7 with a 3.6 L engine and runs like new. Have already 180,000 miles and very happy with it only issue in the past was a water leak fix it on my own and no more issues since then. It runs very smooth and quiet on the highways. 15:04
Great review. Yeah the warranty definitely makes sense if you plan on keeping it stock. I would delete all the DPF, DEF, EGR and all that sensor crap on modern diesels. It increases the reliability, power and sounds great.
@@haoyuan5 DPF is a Diesel Particulate Filter which cuts down on emissions and smoke. It gets clogged sometimes and robs power. DEF is a system that injects urea into the exhaust to help neutralize the amount of pollutants coming out the exhaust system. It has all sorts of sensors and needs regular top ups. EGR is Exhaust Gas Recirculation where some exhaust gases are put back into the intake system to further burn it off. It gets clogged and sets the check engine light. Delete all this stuff off and the vehicle is now reliable.
Another Great Vehicle Assessment Yo ! Price seems to be on point. Major Red 🇲🇦 Flag however, mix and match TIRES never recommended on an ALL wheel drive model. The variation in tread depth sends the "quattro" sensors into disarray while driving in slippery road conditions. Definitely a potential safety issue and this dealer should have been aware of it. Any buyer, ALERT new brakes and 4 NEW tires first thing out of the box upon delivery. Hope This Helps Yo ! ⛈ ❄ 🌨 🔚
That’s correct! I owned a 2014 q7 and everyone stressed that so much a mechanic I trusted as well said it’s one of the few things the dealer doesn’t lie about lol
Ty for reviewing this Q7 although it has way too many miles & it's too slow (granted good MPG) so I think unless I could get it discounted about $4K I wouldn't consider it. Just looked on truecars & in Salem, OR (in the state where I live) there's a 2008 Premium TI 4.2 Q7 with 139K miles asking $10,800 while a private seller in Washington State wants $10,900 for his 2013 Prestige TI with 140K miles. Can you get your hands on an VW Atlas or a Volvo by chance? Great review, like these old school vehicles, keep um coming!
It just so happens that VW, Audi, and Volvo are the most difficult vehicles for reviewers to get. But I did get approval for VW and Volvo I did the VW Taos and XC40 but hardly any get any of their cars in my area so I can't promise any reviews soon
nice ride but TDI from that day an age aint what they used to be ,if u want a car like this u better with something NA gasoline powered. Modern diesels are overly-complicated stay away from them ,yet 15 seems pretty apealing for somehting like this
I have one, currently 11 0000 kms, 21" 295 wheels S line. No problems with braking. Stops plenty quick for its weight. Impressively quick actually. I've taken it out to a back road and slammed the brakes on at 110kmh and it stopped far quicker and in a much shorter distance than most other cars I've owned. Stable, super comfortable, excellent driving experience. Had it 2 years, got it with 62000 kms, still in love with this car and I've had a few beemers in the past. Had an issue with the aircon blower under the dash, was an easy DIY replacement. In sports, not really slow, for a heavy beast, it's actually fast. I have to use cruise control a fair bit because it's actually too easy to end up over any speed limit due to the comfort in the driving not making you aware of your actual speed. Great family car, the 7 seats are useful when you need the extra ones, huge luggage space when you need it too. Tows any trailer in its towing range effortlessly. I've towed everything there is for it so far except a caravan and it handled the weight like it wasn't even there.
7:20 this car is clean for its size has PDF and EGR. New tesla is way dirtier. Its all about branding and politics and ofcourse money. Don't get fooled.
@@mickeyol wow, towing cap of my 99 4dr Tahoe with 4WD I think is 7k, they can obviously do a little more than that with proper brakes, but 7.7k out of the Q7? Think I'm sold on the upgrade :o
I own a 2010 with 193,000 KMs or 120,000 miles on it. Bought it just after covid hit with 137,000 kms and paid 11,500 CAD full dieselgate warranty. In that time, Engine out reseal, EGR cooler X2, 2 new injectors, new DPF, New fuel system. If diesel touched it they replaced the part except fuel tank. It was flushed. I shudder to think, Had Audi not paid the cost. What it might have cost me. Don't buy an Audi....
I drive a 2011 q7 tdi and it was a bit sluggish compared to the 2017 volvo xc90. I know it s a 6 year gap in tech and. But the audi had a turbo charge diesel and I was just expecting a bigger pull when I hit the gas and was just let down. So I decided on the volvo t6 xc90 with a supercharger and turbo set up. Much more pleased with the performance.
The Volvo is a turbo charged gasoline and the Audi a turbo charged diesel, off course they feel different. There is probably also a difference in their milage.
@@ChunkyBunny2 naw. I hate it when a car is completely murdered out. Takes away any depth or standout features of the vehicle. It’s something only an 18 year old would like.
