I was watching this and the 2009 All Star race and the kind of speed they had. Reaching almost 200 on both front and back straights. Watching the race last sunday and tonight and seeing them only reaching 180 is SAD to see
The race tonight they are only reaching 180 on the straights and holding 150-160 in the corners... Compare that to 2014 or even 2009 when they were screaming to 200 on the straights and flying through the corners at 170
This was the year I gained appreciation for the 48 team. Even in what they called a bad season he still won multiple races. I wish he retired after 2017 though. He drove with the throttle and that just doesn't work when street cars have more horsepower than your race car.
i gazed upon the empty diamond tower terrace in turn 2 at this race, they did not sell tickets to those stands at charlotte in 2014, now they took those stands out, oh well those seats were low-demand anyhow, they basically became dead when charlotte installed the big hd screen
I remember when this race was run in the daytime and it would be 100*F in the shade. They'd pack the place out and thousands couldn't even get tickets. NASCAR chose to piss on their most loyal fan base to try to make NASCAR appeal to everyone and they've paid the price for it. I wouldn't pay 5 bucks to go to a NASAR race anymore.
What’s crazy is a decade earlier Jimmie Johnson won the 600 from the pole, and led 334 laps. He dominated the 2014 600 and won from the pole but only led 169 laps
Somebody please give me a race where her green car was there at the end. I want any magic at all in any race . Not being a smart alec at all I just missed a lot of racing.
The track cools when it gets dark. That means (and I might have this dead backwards) that the grip is increased. Not by a ton, but it's enough for the drivers to loosen up just a little. You don't want a car that's a boat to turn.
Robert Collett obviously from a championship standpoint he’s been dominant since the death of Sr. I’m sure that if you took a poll of all NASCAR fans he’d be among the top contenders. I separate NASCAR into three distinct time periods. 1. The early years. Petty was the obvious winner 2. The glory years. The Intimidator was the obvious winner. 3. The declining years. Johnson is the obvious winner. I don’t see just one driver as being the GOAT. No one driver has ever lived long enough to be that.
@@robertcollett7115 he's won 7 titles and he's the only one of them to do it in 4 different points systems and if he doesn't wreck at Texas in 05 he could be sitting at 8 rn
"OFF" means a car is in the garage for repairs. "OUT" means the car has retired (will not come back on track). DNFs are scored based on the number of laps completed.
AviationMaster96 DNFs are when a driver is not running at the finish. Like say Joey Logano and Brad K got into their wreck at Bristol. They repaired there cars and then we're running at the finish.
