2014 Ford Fusion Rear Shock Replacement 

If you are doing this and especially if you live in rust belt, you should change those upper brackets as well. There is a rubber bushing in there that wears out. Mine were making a "clunk" noise from the left rear and that is primarily caused from wear in the bracket. I ordered new shocks, new brackets, and new dust boots (since they have the rubber bumper integrated to keep it from bottoming out) and the bumpers definitely were not very rubbery anymore. If you are buying OEM Motorcraft shocks, be sure to order the nut for the shock as well since they do not come with a new one.

About to do this. When you get the 15mm top but close just angle grind the nut off. Might save some headache

I just did mine. Thanks for the video. I too ended up having to cut through the strut to get the nut off by putting it in a vice clamp. Other videos stated that they were able to do it with just vice grips, but that old nut gets almost welded on the top of it. From my understanding, those Monroe shocks are really good. Now my fusion feels really good while driving.

My shock broke while picking my wife up after she got rear ended this morning. So far not to difficult, just waiting for my local O'Reilly's to get my shock mounts in this afternoon. Figured I should replace those too. Thanks for the video. If I ever meet you, remind me to buy you a new pair of pants!😅

Is the fusion in this video the 1.5l 4cyl turbo motor?

I hope you still know this, i just got some new shock to replace my terribly worn ones, and the nut for the lower bolts is attached to the bracket on the bottom of the shock and the new shocks didnt come with nuts. Do you remember the size and thread pitch of the rear lower shock mounting bolts? Thank you.

I am about to replace my rears. I think I might just spend the money to get new mounting brackets and the plastic piston covers. A little more expensive, but then I could avoid the issues with the shock nut. I don't have a vise here. If I sub-assmble the new shocks then it's just the 4 bolts to reinstall. I could just toss the old shocks out.
