I'll take you through the steps I took to update my navigation maps. This update included, new maps, updated POI's, updated system phone and audio software, and system firmware.
Dear John, I live in the Middle East and my map for the same model has not been upgraded since 2014. And the worst thing is the dealers here don’t have an upgrade, free or paid. Could you please send me a link or address where I can write or contact them to find a solution. Will highly appreciate it. Thanks 🙏
How do you know if you need an update? I woke up this morning to the navigation screen on. And I didn't put it that way and now it's stuck on calculation please help
Dear John, Thanks for sharing this, I also have Santa Fe 2014, and I'm facing some troubles with the Navi. system, not because the maps are old but the route calculations are sucks, I have installed FREE Navi. systems on my phone (Waze, and Here), I'm not relying on the car system anymore, and I'm not willing to pay Huyndai for the update (as my version didn't work good for me so far), Thank you anyway.
10.5 is available now and black friday sale has it for 10% off and you can download now so only about $150. I still feel that is too much and not worth it... unless they add in Apple Carplay.... I am not real happy with the maps as well, but overall they are nice to have. I would rather use Google or Apple Maps on the screen. I have been thinking of buying a Jeep.... :)
Willy, Yes it was absolutely free! I didn't download it, I was sent a new SD card to swap for the one that came in the car. I had received a postcard in the mail offering the free update. It had instructions to go to a certain Hyundai site and place an "Order". The order was free and the SD card and instructions arrived in the mail a few days later. Just now, I went to the site to see if it was still available. I'm sorry to say that I got the following Message: "This site is now closed. Please contact your local Hyundai dealership to place your Map Update order. Please remember that this offer will expire on December 31,2016. We apologize for any inconvenience." Maybe if you go to your dealer and whine that you missed out on the free map update, they'll give it to you. John
rongotwo - I don’t remember the exact site, but it was Hyundai USA in California. It was completely free, but you had to have gotten the offer from Hyundai to take advantage of it. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

I have a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T AWD and I’m trying to see if anyone who has a 2014 Santa Fe has Apple CarPlay. I’m not sure it’s available on this model year.
Johah, I did some research on Apple Car Play a couple of years ago and found that it was not offered in the 2014 Santa Fe. The reason I was given said that the Infotainment system itself is not compatible with Apple Car Play. That is why Hyundai customers needed to wait for an upgraded compatible infotainment system. I understand that 2016 was the transition year for Android and Apple Carplay to be available in some of the Hyundai models. It was standard in most 2017 Hyundai models.
John Kerwin we also have a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe and it said it came with it but it did not. I had talked to the dealership and they said they could update it for free. After doing so, they said that they actually charge about $100, but since the guy on the phone messed up, they still updated it for free. So now we have it on one car. I’m looking at installing a new stereo head unit on the car to get Apple CarPlay, it will cost 500$.
