Excellent review. No cheesy music, right to the points. The presenter talks like an annoying news reporter, but at least he was speaking clearly. Also that is one of the lowest mpg reportings I have seen for this rig. He must have an extremely heavy foot.
A mostly good review. But I have a 2016 4X4 Trail Rated Limited model, with Quadra-Drive, Quadra-Lift and Quadra-Trac. It's a great vehicle, but the best thing about it is the diesel engine, my first ever vehicle with diesel. It's' marvelous! And it is VERY quiet. The main thing you will notice is that you can stay with the hemi up to about 50 mph and then get close to 30 mpg highway. Off-road, the diesel, operating at low rpm with HUGE torque, is superior to any other option. I don't know why they can't sell more trail-rated diesel-powered Grand Cherokees. Isn't this the reason you buy a JEEP?!
Just a heads up. Ensure that if you purchase this diesel option be ready to pay for the maintenance. An oil change (because of the Euro required oil) will run you $120-180.00
Nordic Nevs jeep recommends the shell rotella T6 5w40 as engine oil, and this oil is available in the American market, not in Europ, with this oil you can reach 10.000 miles interval (depending on the oil change indicator). In my country (Morocco), such an oil is not available, even with the authorized dealer, so they put a less efficient oil and ask you to change it each 6667 miles and ignore the oil change indicator alerts !!
To bad its way to expensive here in Norway. I love the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee. At $167.600 for a Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 Overland Summit 250 HK. And no there is no typo when it comes to the price :(
save you 1,000 a year over the hemi.. so thats 4 years to break even for the 4,000 option. Add in that diesel (at least here) is 57 cents more a gallon than gas, and the extra MPG will take along time, just to break even.. especially with more expensive oil changes etc.. doesnt make sense for someone who gets new vehicles every 3-5 years.. not a smart financial decision.
Ron Heater You you make some good points, but diesel is just 4c more a gallon than regular unleaded in many parts of Oregon. I regularly get 30-32mpg out of mine and plan on getting the gde tune which people report getting 33-36mpg out of (all highway of course). The hemi, while an excellent engine, could never hope to get close to those numbers. My repairs might cost a bit more, but I expect this engine to far out live the gasoline counterparts. You make some excellent points though, especially about the time-related savings.
I want to like these but Jeep vehicles are among the few that can challenge Land Rovers for Most Likely to Break Down. The latest JD Powers ratings were abysmal.
