This is really impressive, and makes me even more proud to own my 2014 Mazda3. I've always been a big Mazda fan in terms of design and engineering...I picked my new 3 over the more expensive 'premium' German brands not because I couldn't afford them, but because I appreciated the way the car was built, designed, and engineered. It's efficient, lightweight, fun to drive, safe, and good looking--Great stuff.
This video perfectly explains how smart engineering and tight process control can effectively reduce the cost of your product, AND offer your company greater manufacturing flexibility. I like Mazda, but I really appreciate their engineering methodology and I hope others in this industry and other industries adopt their mindset.
There is steering effort, and there's steering feedback. I've driven the Mazda RX-8 and Mazda3 power steering. None even compares to 2006-20015 Mazda Miata MX-5. Subaru/Toyota BRZ/FR-S/GT-86 doesn't come close to Mazda Miata either. Mazda should simply make a hydraulic steering pump driven by an electric motor to save gas on highway.
He seems really nervous. Talks rather quickly, sounds out of breath, and says um/uh frequently. That being said, all the information was given clearly while still going in depth. Good video.
Normally this sort of thing is either extremely boring or done by an arrogant d-bag actively trying to talk above the heads of the audience. (or worse, bs'ing their way through stuff they don't really understand) This guy makes me want to support Mazda with my next car purchase, especially if they make a speed3 version of the next Mazda 3. (I drive a '16 GTI and don't want to step down)
