Sami Benz The model tested is the SPEEDSHIFT DCT. In other words the dual clutch transmission. Also are you wearing racing gloves? If so why?

gcm747 It's actually not a dual-clutch transmission. It's a Speedshift MCT, with "multi clutch technology". It just uses a wet clutch to launch the car from a stop. One way to note the difference between the MCT and a true DCT is as simple as downshifting. In an AMG with the MCT, the downshift will often be delayed, or not given at all. A DCT is instantaneous and will give a downshift on command 9 times out of 10.

The 991 isn't really that quiet ever, which was my whole point. I drive on Interstate 5 fairly often, and making a 2 hour drive in my 991 leaves me fatigued and annoyed. This is due to the persistent road/tire noise that permeates the cabin.

+///Motorsport3 the E55 was too tame? it'd literally spin the tires like all throughout first gear, which went up to like 50 mph. i've driven both the E63 S and E550 of the same year and they literally feel identical. in the AMG everything's just scaled up. how can you say the E55 has less character lol, it literally SNAPS your head back while the 63 just gradually pushes it back. make no mistake, the newer car is about 30 times better than the old one but it's almost too refined, and to me that takes away character. the E55 was a hot rod with air conditioned seats, and the engine (not exhaust) sounded so god damn angry.

+///Motorsport3 it certainly isn't lacking power, it's the way that it delivers the power. you speak in metric so i'm guessing you're not from america where we only have the E63 S in AWD, so maybe i should've asked whether yours is RWD or AWD. but unless you launch it the AWD version sort of bogs off the line. the transmission also has very protective software in order to make sure it can reliably handle all those launches. that combined with the AWD and turbos that don't really hit full boost until like 2500 rpm (which is still not bad) doesn't give you the instantaneous punch that the immediately engaging supercharger on the RWD E55. once you're out and moving the new car is undoubtedly faster but off the line at least, (unless you use race start or brake torque it, which isn't always practical in real world situations) this newer car doesn't have that same muscle car feel. it's almost too smooth with the power delivery. sometimes i wish there was spikier turbo lag to liven it up a bit lol.
