@@carlosvalentin9670 same even the greatest have their moments and she looked a bit concerned during the trials. I hope she's able to come back one day too, if not for paris then for a worlds comp so she can get the double pike named after her
We miss you Kyla Ross..... good luck in your retirement and your collegiate career....... Words cant express how much of an impact you left on your sport. We love you Kyla
It's crazy watching this when you know how good some of these girls did in thier NCAA career. Like brenna and Hano. Kyla and Mckayla. So proud of them!
Simone you are such a unique girl....like watching your moves with unimaginable energy with style. Almighty God bless you more n more.We are around of you girl
i love at 52:56 when Nastia and Tim laugh at what Al is saying. At least they realize some of the bullshit one-liners he says. He always makes everything sound so profound. "The gymnasts are more.....than just gymnasts." Wtf does that mean Al?!
Kyla Ross' gymnastics is like a fine wine, she truly gets better with age. if you're here and you enjoy Kyla PLEASE go watch some meets from UCLA starting in 2017, as Kyla is INCREDIBLE in her NCAA career
Its sad seeing how outgoing and happy simone was in the early years of her career vs the second quad of her career were she just seemed not as happy due to all the personal struggles she’s been through despite the success.
I know I've been watching too many elite gymnastics videos during this pandemic because last night my little 6lb dog jumped down from the sofa to the floor and I thought "great form on that Pac salto!". Not even kidding.
@@Jordan-gg6sz sooo boring, I hate it, and they cant connect it to any element so it really sucks.. but safe in deductions.. BLEH.. you never see a world champion or an olympic champion these days that do that dismount.. let it go
Incorrect. Marta always created her team finals lineups based on how the gymnasts did/scored in qualifications. She almost always took the top 3 scores from qualifications and put them in the line up for finals, with a few exceptions over the years.
@@destiny236231 Gabby was iffy. They did not know how she would perform under that kind of pressure. They didn't think it woul mmatter since jordyn was not expected to NOT make the AA final. Kyla was never slated for the all around !!
Diane Bishop you guys need to stop being rude! Maybe thats how he wants to say it and nobody should care how he speaks! Have respect! And NO i am not old, i am 11
Almost 10 years ago.. just a few days away from Nationals where Simone will undoubtedly blow everyone away... although the talent pool is DEEP this quad the whole world over!
I hate how Tim just rabble's on and interrupt he says everything and doesn't leave anything for nastia then when her makes mistakes he likes to say like I said and start getting aggressive then when someone else messes up he's so quick to correct them I like Shannon Miller so much more
57:09 For some reason, when I think about Alyssa, of course all of the grace and beauty and achievements come to mind--all the good stuff. However, this one moment always pops into my head first because I always think of my first reaction when I saw it. -"Oops! I dropped a contact...where is it?"
I simply cannot stand Allen Trautwig - who simply doesn't know anything about gymnastics, I do not understand why he's even commentating. Simone Biles was NOT supposed to win?! She outscored Kyla, what the actual fuck. Her win relied on a bit of luck (which is something that happens often in the sports of gymnastics), yes, but to say she was not supposed to win is idiotic, rude and very, very disrespectful.
2013 looked like a rough year for her. No one thought she would have a shot at being US Champion. But she did It, she wasn't favored, that's why she wasn't supposed to win.
That's just poor commentating, no way around it. Biles had immense potential coming in her first year as senior and yes, she did bad at the Secret U.S. Classic but the difficulty and the technique over Kyla was already there, the only thing she needed to do was hit. She did well at the City of Jesolo Trophy before the Secret U.S. Classic so as a commentator who's actually watching gymnastics you kinda can predict that if she hits all 4 events she will overtake Ross. You see her potential by looking at her junior years as well, the only thing that was missing is consistency. And again, at the 2013 P&G Championships she needed Kyla to falter a bit because Simone didn't secure her gold by being at her 100%, so that resulted in the "she wasn't supposed to win" comment. They really wanted Kyla to win because they were biased and because they thought she deserved it, but Simone deserved it just as much. Disrespectful commentating from a non-gymnastics watcher.
Come on, don't take it personal. he meant she wasn't favorite to win. She has been inconsistent prior to that event and then it clicked for Simone and since then she never looked back. English Language is not perfect. He didn't say so with malice.
Anyone who knows gymnastics scoring might be able to answer this... can there be any benefit on beam to just hopping down if you know you're going to come off? Will you lose more points if you wobble, bobble, flail, and then fall as opposed to just popping right off if you know you're not going to be able to save it?
Coming off of beam is a full point deduction because it is counted as a fall. A wobble is probably anywhere from 1 to 3 tenths and a major bobble is 5 to 7 tenths I believe. If you place your hands on the beam during a wobble that's even more deductions. It's better to wobble than come off the beam.
@@dm-audioswaps9945 not really true. They will be deducted for the element missed, the arm movements and any bobbles AND the fall. So it is less deduction for just the fall.
I know that MyKayla has hard tumbling and everything but the form on them. I know it has gotten better but still. And the turns are easy. I like her and all but still.
It's now 2020, and really the form is still not where it should be. It is so important for coaches to stress form from the very beginning cause that is difficult to fix once you train yourself to muscle through things rather than train yourself to use technique.
joyfuljaj so if you think about it, it’s not mykayla’s fault. It’s her coaches for not being so strict on it years ago. I really want her to move gym to WCC with Simone! Myk would be amazing after being at wcc. Look at Jordan Chiles for example. But mykayla’s form has gotten better significantly since 2014. It’s not perfect but it’s a lot better
@@nathanielhalls1893 It’s both their faults. Her coaches definitely need to be honest with her and let her know that her form is not good and it’s not okay to keep going year after year without correction. On the other hand, Makayla knows and has admitted that her form is not he best, so she’s not ignorant of this fact. If she wanted to improve her form, she needs to buckle down and do it. She can’t just wait for the coaches to do it for her. She’s an adult now. She can absolutely make it happen for herself.
