I actually bought a Main-Line version of the Hot-Wheels Herbie, and I didn't really like it because it was missing it's sunroof, so I gave it away as soon as I came across the Retro-Entertainment version and Johnny Lightning model of Herbie. The wheels on the Hot-Wheels version, I'm not too worried about because they remind me of Herbie's upgrades when he races in NASCAR. I've kept both the Hot-Wheels Retro-Entertainment and Johnny Lightning models of Herbie, and both of them I'm very proud of because I paid good money for both of them.
Had a white 76' Beetle back in the early 1990's, was a barn find (in England) and have noted the rear windows ever since. Herbie was a 1963 Beetle. The HW's both have 1952-1957 rears, but the JL has the 'newer' style correct for its year. Just some useless trivia..but when you see that big difference it can't be unseen lol
I have to admit, growing up with the Herbie movies it does look more like the classic and not the newest version.. The Main line is from the newer movie the retro is form the original,. if you get the silver dish wheels, you can do a wheel swap and paint the outer edge and make it look like the correct wheels. not a big deal. great find I shall be on the look out for this one.
