I have owned my IQ for a little under a year now, bought the last one on the lot before these things went extinct, and I must say that I am in love with it! Sure it isn't without it's faults- the back seats are near-unusable and the small light is nowhere near adequate enough to provide any useful luminescence, but I must say that he is one hell of a little trooper~! My father, my brother, and I all piled in for a fifteen hour drive to Washington (from California) to pick up an RV, towed the IQ back and it experienced a fair share of bumps and bruises along the way- but it's none the worse for wear. I even take it about two hours away to San Francisco about twice a month, and it handles the commute no problem. My family's come to affectionately call it "Goliath", and we love the little guy~
+Valcust I have a 2015 Scion iQ and after driving it for a month now I have noticed when im coming to a stop (15 mph) the car feels "restrictive" like its "engine breaking" then when i get close to 0 mph (5 to 3 mph) it feels like the car lets go and i bump forward a little when its not "restricted anymore. Is this normal for this car? I barley feel it but im starting to notice it more and more and Im guessing its the CVT but im still unsure
Yeah, I get that sometimes too- though mostly only in very hilly areas such as San Francisco. It's very odd, but you get used to it- still no idea what exactly causes the sensation :/
+Valcust yeah I put a custom exhaust on mine (muffler delete) and I made the exhaust come out the passenger side and now that I've done that I can really feel it and it gets annoying cause I let go of the gas thinking I'll just coast to the red light but it restricts me so much I stop a lot sooner then that lol
A little tid bit for those interested in the iQ: There is an additional storage drawer under the passenger seat, just a small sliding tray. Hope this helps!
@Yoshi the Tax fraud Why are you not using speech-to-text then? What kind of operation are you running over there, man? C'mon. You're a grown adult. No excuse for not having perfect grammar and punctuation.
Toyota once agin has made a great car! I'm a Colorado guy who drives diesel trucks and luxury sedans on a daily basis. To me this car would be a perfect daily driver while you have your big luxury sedan for weekends and special occasions. This outbeats the smart car in every aspect. Thank you Toyota!
I have one of these. No problem in NYC finding parking, great gas mileage, interior is ample and comfortable, ride is smooth and quiet, best little car for city driving, stable and secure in highways! BEST CAR EVER! IF you are single of course. Plenty of cargo space too, never had to leave anything behind at Costco!
May I applaud Saabkyle for finally putting his non-licensed music on a CD, so we can get an idea of the sound system, instead of dubbing over it? I hope you continue bringing this CD for your future demos.
Have you not watched my recent videos? They have all been either with my phone or a CD, except the crossfire, which was an older video. There is NOTHING I can do with the older videos that already have radio demos. I have to avoid copyright, therefore, I have to dub older videos over. I look forward to the day when I no longer have to do that lol.
***** I've probably given most of your recent videos a miss then. Not all the cars you demo interest me. I also tend to skip around a bit. No offense at the quality of your videos, mind. I like what you do, even I question why you do the rev sound demo on two seperate occasions in some of your videos. Anyway, my point is you're doing the CD/phone thing now and that's good, whether or not I was late to notice it.
SilverSpade92 Thanks for chiming in I appreciate it. As far as the sound clips, I like to do an initial bit, and vary the revs more later to give a better perspective.
I've owned a lot of cars over the years and my spouse and I own 4 cars now. We drive this car 99% of the time. It has replaced our Honda Element as our long trip travel car. The advantages of small outside footprint, the fact that inside it is as roomy as a regular car and it has enough space for luggage (enough for 14 day cruises) for most holidays and that in a strange city it's handling is a godsend. This is my favorite car ever!
I had an IQ for two years on a lease, and it was the best little car ever. Literally could not believe how good the gas mileage was and just how ridiculously fun it was to drive. If I had a million dollars, the first thing I would do is get a brand new IQ. 😍
VolkswagenGamer - Nope. Bought mine in 2010, still going as new. Best little car I've ever had. Gone over the Alps, Pyrenees and all round Europe, it's a perfect little motor. Love Love Love !!
This video makes me miss my IQ so much. I had it for two years (from 2012-2014) on a lease; the exterior was dark blue and the inside was all black, and I loved that little car so much. I even took my husband (then boyfriend) on a two hour drive back to my hometown and the car handled the drive so well. I told my husband that once our kids move out, I’m getting another IQ. 😂
I drove my 2013 manual 4,500 across Europe last year. Staying in Airbnb more than enough space for 2 plus luggage and 2 s inflatable sup boards on the roof. Never missed a beat and 80 mph on motorways brilliant car.
Sadly I can't say the same for the American CVT version, What was Japan even thinking? But the Yaris 3 door I settled for is pretty amazing as well 300k minimal required maintenence and still going like it was fresh off the lot.
It's cute. Can't believe Aston used to sell these things... I take that back, it looks REALLY cute. I want one. Kyle, you should include that part where you sit in the back seats from now on, especially if it's a 2+2 sports car. It'll be interesting.
In my opinion its beginning to make more sense to have a smaller car like this. Why carry all that extra weight when in most cases you're gonna ride with an empty car. There's no getting around the fact that you're just carrying dead weight, all the extra metal and seats. The low profile also helps fuel economy. Maybe this is as good as it gets. Awesome review.
Great video. You weren't kidding when you said in-depth! I liked those little details, like how the different fucntions on the stereo and trip computer work.
Actually this was exactly what I was looking for at that time as a daily commuter, until I reached the feature list that said CVT transmission only!! "With no manual tranny option in the United States." Customer lost: I'm sure I'm not the only one either, I actually even considered buying the manual Toyota version from across the pond until I opted for a slightly larger Yaris 3 door.

One of the biggest differences between the iQ and the Smart Car is that the iQ has a rear seat because it is about 14 inches longer than the Smart Car. The Smart Car has a point too, it has a rear engine which the iQ doesn't have. All in all, the two cars are pretty similar. I was in the rear seat of an iQ once, with the front seat all the way back, my feet hurt and I yelled "GET ME OUT OF HERE!" The iQ makes Scion actually have pretty good competition with the Smart Car.
You can't put a turbo on it. The size of the engine and everything couldn't handle one. I have been and am part of forums of Scion owners who strongly advise to not put a turbo.
It's kinda weird to watch a review on a Veyron, GL, M235i, Lexus something and now this. But I like that you also review cars, that are made for normal people w/o 200k+ in their bank accounts. Why are there no Toyotas in the US, but Toyota Dealerships? Whats up with that?
I have a 2013. It looks the exact same except I have the black mettalic paint on my outside and inside, and i gave wing. Don't have better radio but have the 6 speakers, crazy
+demonsangells The glove 'drawer' is actually below the passenger seat. Not very big', but not 94 grand cherokee level of small. it fits my manual, my registration, and maybe a pair of gloves. about it.
Not right now, with 50+ videos I have right now, it's not as much of a priority as the others, but I promise, I will try to upload it soon once I am able to catch up on some recent stuff I've been working on.
I've had a smart for almost 10 years, it's not as reliable as a toyota, i was looking at a few iQ's over the weekend and found a couple of low mile '14's . will probably buy one, 99% of the time i drive alone, smart was good for that, but basic repairs give a nose bleed, thermostat, $920 ($80 for part, $800+ a few "one time use parts" and 6 hours mercedes labor)
aww, I wanted him to try and squez behind the drivers seat, my little sister is 5 5 and I want to see if she may fit or if its literally just for kid car seats.
In the UK we dont have the Scion. But we have the IQ same right? which I did a UK sarcastic review on on my page. Nice filming on your's by the way : )
