I have a 2012 2.5i Limited with 103,500 miles and other than regular oil changes, no other maintenance issues have arisen. All electronics work, including my backup camera! It's nice that it's practical without being too big, and I love the fold-away roof rack, which helps make the car be quieter and more aerodynamic when it's not in use. It's very practical and I love the AWD system too since it hasn't gotten me stuck whenever I drive through the sticks

My wife drives one of these, same year, 2.5i - it has been reliable and trouble-free approaching 78,000 miles. CVT with flappy paddles, which I have never used. Not super powerful, but very practical. When she bought it, I warned her that she would get hit on by women now.

I still love mine-- it's not *great* at anything but it's really good at a lot-- I love the integrated folding roof crossbars. They save a ton of time.

@@CoyKiyote World’s most practical car. Ours is right at 100,000 miles now. We did have to replace the rear bearing hubs, but this time cost only $450 vs the $2200 we paid some years ago on our 2001 Toyota Highlander for the same job, which was a great vehicle that we sold, still running great at 247,000 miles. The Subaru also still runs great but I DO recommend switching to 5W-30 high mileage motor oil over the terribly thin 0W weight oil that is the factory recommendation. Even with the 5W-30, at my 5000 oil change interval the oil is still woefully fuel-soaked on the Subaru due to the flat-four engine design, which accelerates wear. 🙁

this was my fav gen of outback. sits high, has their great awd system, massive trunk area, and just basic enough tech in the lower-range models to where you arent concerned about all of it failing in a few years/needing endless upgrades, and still had a lot of buttons (not touchscreen reliant). the design is cute too imo. great video, very informative, thanks!

I am going into high school in 2 years. and this may be almost a decade old, but the safety and reliability of this car... well it’s on point, this will most likely Ben y first car. (Mine would be White)

Thank you, this was a great, honest review. Lots of online vids are just salesmen hyping it up, I appreciate you looking at the negatives too. I will be buying one these used tomorrow and this video sold me

I've got 231k miles on mine but REALLY wish I had gotten the limited trim instead of premium. Otherwise I love it!

Is it your impression that most Subaru’s are this reliable? I’m considering buying one but hear just enough grumbling about boxer issues.
@CoyKiyote

@@PatriotSteve Mine does have one issue that's already resolved with the LED headlights-- my non LED headlights go out every 8 or so months-- it's soooo annoying. i think some of the grumblings about the boxer engines were warrented but are probably resolved by now-- but if I were you I'd wait and see what the all new redesigned 2025 Outback brings-- it may get a hybrid engine.

At what mileage did you first get it? I’m looking at one with 150k but have heard a lot about CVT issues

Hi . I have this Subaru , I like it but I’m wondering why I can’t open tailgate only by hand, I can’t open it using my key fob and there is no bottom inside the car ! Something wrong with this 😔

I have a 2014 subaru outback, gas radiator fluid was mixing with oil due to a leak in the radiator into the oil pan under the radiator so l was told as the radiator and oil pan is a one system. Had a new radiator installed almost a year ago. I have an issue now with the same mix issue. It seems like they should have flushed the system out with the install of the new radiator, apparently it wasn't fushed out. I have not seen a mix when checking the oil, now it seems to be an issue suddenly. Am l getting screwed over on this job by the garage mechanic??? HELP !!
