Hey guys in this video I'm going to show you how to replace the headlight bulbs in your 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis Sedan with the 3.8L V6. This will also apply to the 2017-2020 G80 with the Xenon lights as well.
I am DIYer and wanted to show you my process, this is in no way a professional guide and you should proceed with caution. I am not responsible if you mess up your car. Take it to a licensed automotive technician for this repair. It might also be a good idea to disconnect the battery before attempting this repair as well.

hyundai engineers must be drunk when they designed this part of the car.

Is it necessary to remove all of the pieces on the driver's side. Appears as though it can be completed without

I wanted to upgrade mine after I saw your video. I have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 BUT my original bulb is a OSRAM H11 and not compatible with D1S. I'm returning the bulb but man it would've been nice to have the D1S. commenting so someone does not make same mistake as me

Thank you. You saved my $500 on my drivers side headlight after I bought a Phillips bulb. I used your technique with four minor tweaks. First I did not need to remove the shroud for the drivers side replacement. The second tweak I took off the bulb harness before moving by placing a standard head screwdriver between the old bulb base and the connector and gently twisting the screwdriver. Third I stuffed the lower light housing with about 8 paper towels so that if the screw fell it would remain accessible. Lastly, I cheated a little. I removed the more accessible screw on the bracket and then gently bent the bracket back just enough to remove the bulb. Thanks again for providing this insight!

awesome video. A headlight went out on my G80 the day before I was headed to my local Genesis dealer for a minor defroster issue and thought I would let them change the bulb. The owners manual said " spin off the access panel, remover the bracket, and pull the bulb carefully out". It didn't look very accessible, so i figured there was a trick. I asked the Genesis Parts guys if I could watch the mechanic school me on pulling the bracket and the said "sure". 5 minutes later he comes out and said, before Start, I want you to know that GENESIS wants $400 for the bulb plus the labor for the shroud and bumper removal. I about choked. Brought the car home and plan on using your wheel well access technique when I get the bulbs shipped for $70. Thanks for the tips!

I’m thinking about doing this myself. My drivers side headlight blew and I was told $340 for 1 bulb and another $300 for labor. So here I am. Thank you for this video. Any extra advice?

Wow that is insane, no way you should be paying that much! You can buy upgraded bulbs and do it cheaper yourself My advice is to take your time and have that long screw driver for sure, and also some spare fender liner/splash shield clips as those will break for sure. They aren't that expensive from the stealership I got pretty lucky removing the plastic holding down a sensor thing by the passenger side, be super careful when removing that from the body of the car.

Can you put the link of where you purchased the replacement bulb?

I bought these lights as an upgrade www.powerbulbs.com/ca/product/osram-xenarc-cool-blue-intense-next-gen-d1s-twin They are up to 6200k in colour temperature (really white) vs the probably 4300k as the stock colour. These lights are more for style vs performance and will perform worse in the rain and snow/bad weather conditions. I would go for the Osram nighbreakers if you want the best performance but the colour temperature will probably be closer to around 4500k

Yes… you had fo investigate that model. But good job, since you didn’t break anything that your video showed.

My 1989 Prelude: To replace the headlight. Flip up lights. Take off cover by removing screws, Unplug bulb. Repeat steps in reverse order. Today's vehicles: To replace the headlight, disassemble vehicle down to the frame. If it wasn't for videos like this I'd probably never attempt this. Thx!

Glad I could help! And I agree this was quite tedious and I didn't even have to take the bumper off or the whole headlight Definitely not the same as the old days

@@gennaydiy7044BTW: I just got a quote from the local dealership to see how much it would cost to do both headlights. $3600. 🤣 That's some BS engineering right there.

@@gennaydiy7044Well, I did it. It took me a total of 8.5 hours to do both headlamps. Probably longer than it should but I added to that a bit of trying to save myself from having to remove the wheel's been in the end, it had to be done. I think this is a seriously poor engineering design and they could have made this process much easier by instead of using screws (ones that can easily fall off the brackets and down into the headlight housing), use a fastening bracket with a hinge on one side and tension clip on the other. I wouldn't have had to take off the wheel and probably could have replaces the light with one hand.

2015 50 Genesis. Sad that my passenger light went out and they quoted me about $80.00 per side and ended up calling me to say it's $400.00 for one side and I had it done. I needed to get the light because I was driving out of town the next day. I will replace the other one when I return and the bulbs were only $80.00.

So the led strip in my head lights seems pretty dim is there a bulb I can change that might make them brighter?
@semahj

You have to replace the whole headlight assembly for that

I was told that I have to replace the whole headlight assembly when my headlight went out

This is not true as you can see it is replaceable, the 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis Sedan uses a D1S 35W Bulb
