Thank you for stopping by tow watch our 2015-2017 Volkswagen front bumper cover removal tutorial. You got to love German engineering, they are all about efficiency. This front bumper is pretty easy to remove with simple tools. It's definitely quicker than BMW bumpers. We love these little fast cars and you always want to make sure you ride is looking great
TOOLS NEEDED:
You will need a torques bit T20 as well as socket wrench.
PROCESS:
We started off by raising the car a bit. It is pretty low to the ground by design. We jacked the car up and put it on jack stands. We did this off camera but please make sure you do this properly. We began by removing the torques bit T20 bolts from the side of the bumper or fender liner. There are 3 on each side that need to be removed. We then removed the radiator cover to expose the bolts securing the top grille to the frame. We then removed those screw to take off the bumper but we did not realize that it held the top grille in. We show you later on in the video how to remove the top grille but it basically secured by prongs that snap into the bumper. It can be pulled off rather easily. We were a bit premature and started to remove the bumper from it's brackets on each end. We did not realize that there are about 2-4 more bolts that secure the bumper to the frame underneath the top grille. Those are the final bolts to remove and you can pop the bumper off the frame. To remove the bumper you have to pully it off the fender or bumper brackets. Pull each end off but not completely. Once each end is off you can pull the bumper off from the middle. It is also secured onto the headlights underneath. Do not pull it off right away, the fog lights are clipped into the wire harness and have be disconnected. Now you have the bumper off and are able to preform any fixes that you need to.
