i cannot seem to find replacement or aftermarket rotors for the 2015 RC350 fsport AWD.... kind of annoying. I've never owned a car where something as simple as brakes are hard to find.
@harborareatech310
@harborareatech310 Год назад
I get you. I'm guessing because they are special 2 piece rotors.
@mrblackbond
@mrblackbond Год назад
@@harborareatech310 sadly, the AWD models are one piece only… which is why I’m so frustrated lol. One piece rotors should be super easy to find. I don’t wanna buy OEM from Lexus because i think ONE rotor cost like $430
@harborareatech310
@harborareatech310 Год назад
@Chris If the rotors look like the one in the video it's the two piece rotor. They come riveted together and I believe all if not most fsport models come with them. Not too sure if they have aftermarket versions though.
@mrblackbond
@mrblackbond Год назад
@@harborareatech310 that’s what’s I’m saying; the AWD models do not come with two piece rotors. They also have different size rotors than the RWD fsport models. 😩

I have a 21S 350 F sport dynamic handling, and my rear pads are at 3mm and my front are at 6, but both rotors are warped and below 28 mm, I’m wondering why my rear pads are wearing faster. Nobody can answer that question, my car only has 26,000 miles, I do a mix of highway and city driving.
@harborareatech310
@harborareatech310 3 месяца назад
It's hard to say without checking ourlt vehicle. But if you're not doing burnouts, the rear brakes normally tend to last longer than the front brakes. If the rotors ate warped, it's possible that there is an abnormal braking pattern occuring. If you are doing regular braking and the rear pads are worn out , i would get the calipers/other related components inspected
@brandonwiley6530
@brandonwiley6530 3 месяца назад
@@harborareatech310 definitely not doing burnouts, and I drive this car rather conservatively especially now that I daily my RX. I value my money and tires and brakes are too expensive on these cars🤣

Great video! I put new rotors on my 2015 LEXUS RC 350 F SPORT and kept the brakes because they were still thick. Working good but so loud right before coming to a complete stop. I also tested driving slow then stopping but it's still loud. I didn't grease them up, could that be my mistake?
@harborareatech310
@harborareatech310 Год назад
Yes, the manual calls for adding grease at the contact points of the brake pads to reduce noise. Also, make sure your brake pads are equipped with anti squeal shims on the back of the pad. Lastly, I will point out that the f sport is equipped with high-performance brakes, so some brake squeal is normal. There is a bulletin to change the rotors from a two-piece rotor to a one-piece rotor to reduce noise. However, this reduces brake performance.

@etet4736 I never tried those rotors. But if you are re- using the pads clean everything well, check that brake shim, and lightly sand down the brake lining evenly if you are reusing.

Good job 👍 just a random question, i have excessive water vapour coming from the exhaust on our Lexus NX300h . As we live on a steep hill, on a morning start my Mrs pulled out of the driveway and proceeded up the hill. I noticed a trail of water vapour came out for 15 to 20 feet long.. Would you know if this is this considered normal ? Thanks
@harborareatech310
@harborareatech310 Год назад
Thanks! Yes, it is normal. This means your catalytic converter is doing its job at filtering the exhaust gases. Also, condensation may build up overnight on the exhaust and can cause it to burn off at first startup. This is normal as well

no problem! 2-piece rotor is a little lighter, so better suspension action (lighter un-sprung weight can improve road-response, but, only very little!!!) as long as there is no fitting issue, you can go with aftermarket. my car is LS500 F sport. I do all brake jobs, Acura RL, TL, honda accord v6, Lexus GS430 2006, gs430 2006,... I have so many experiences. believe me, you go!

Thank you. Appreciate it. Dont forget to subscribe if you havent already. It's not that difficult i encourage you diy. I usually replace the rotors if they have a deep inner and outer lip on the edges of the rotor because resurfacing at that point may reult in the minimum spec. But technically they have a minimum thickness that you can measure I believe it's 27mm minimum spec but it also depends on the style rotor your vehicle has.
