Good review. Its more expensive than a loaded Accord Touring or Camry ..but a loaded TLX doesnt exceed a loaded Infiniti Q or 3 series so it finds itself in a nice niche. Great tech in this car without some other possibly important features criticized that ere not that important (to me anyways) like self parking or panoramic sunroof. Other criticisms were just dumb - emotional touches aka 'needle sweeping gauges at startup'? - not necessary. I agree that showing too much commonality with the Accord doesnt work in the TLX's favor...nor do cars like the Hyundai Genesis which offer loads of creature comforts for a slight premium. Rear seat occupants do not get pampered as they might expect - which might only bother me if 1 out of 1000 times I drive the car. The TLX has great (conservative) looks, is modern inside and out, and is a great all around drivers car. The only way to go is the V6 though
I have this car and I have a Chrysler 200 fully loaded, I have to say I love the Chrysler 200 better, the TL is so much better then the TLX don't buy this car for the same lease price you could get a BMW 535xi.
A lack of a heated steering wheel option is what blew my mind with this car. I can understand no heated rear seats, no panoramic sunroof (though I don't understand it on the MDX when the new Pilot will offer it) and no rear sun shade as that feature is more for a car like the RLX. But no heated steering wheel? This has to be the ONLY car in it's class that doesn't offer it as an option. I can even get this feature on a Kia Forte.
I’ve owned a base 2016 V-6 model for 2 years and I like and appreciate it more than I did when I first bought it. It gets great MPG on the highway, it comfortable. I have enough tech to keep me satisfied. I couldn’t ask for more with stock 7 speaker Audio system I have and even maintenance costs are low to reasonably priced. I want a BMW 540i one day but with my TLX I’m still smiling, so I’m in no rush 😉
Mario Torrez Quant just got a 2017. Go drive one they’re awesome. V6 290hp and very fast on sport + mode. 5 star reliability, great price and don’t see them too often on the road. Only downside/s: outdated interior and no a/c controls for rear seat vents. Otherwise i’m blown away. I’ll be purchasing acura tlx v6 maybe a-spec in a couple of years when interior is updated. Comfortable, great sound system w/ the tech package and extremely fun to drive.
This car is just an example of what companies with great values have to do because most buyers don't know crap about cars. This car should actually be a Honda Accord, but since people see Honda as a cheap beater car, they had to setup a "fake" new company so they can sell better equipped Honda cars, because if they did the same thing with an actual Honda Accord, nobody would buy them :) Up until the last TLX, in all markets except the US that was a Honda Accord, and thay actually stopped the production of that car in Europe only because regular stupid Joe didn't want to pay that kind of money for "only a Honda". On the other hand, everybody wants a BMW or an Audi, even though they have the worst reliability of them all, and Audi being the worst driving car on top of that, but people want "German luxury" because they only understand one thing, the design. Average Joe doesn't have any clue what a car is, how it can drive and how reliable it could be so the world is full of crap beautiful cars :)
bassistdc None taken, and non intended here either. I just never understood people who buy a car that requires premium gas, then complains about it. At any rate, I just wanted to illustrate that people who buy cars in this price range aren't all that concerned about a 20 cent price difference. For me, I buy my gas at a Costco station. Their premium gas is always cheaper than the name brand's regular. Since my car requires premium, that's where I buy it.
itsmegp46 In Chicago It's 40 cents more and some stations are 60 cents more over regular. It used to be 20. I'm just saying at this time it would be a factor in my decision on what to buy.
I made the mistake of trading my TL for a TLX, V6 SH-AWD what a disappointment, worst transmission ever built, have constant vibration issues due to some manufacturing defect which their engineers have yet to figure out and it is becoming a huge problem for a lot of owners. JUNK CAR, DO NOT BUY ONE !!!
I could not agree more! I have owned many Acura's but this is the first time I have been disappointed. Have already tried to get rid of it but would have to take to big of a loss. Definately my last Acura.
+Caico Potcake when I turned it on in the morning I got 7 different errors. Granted it was a very cold morning but that is no excuse. This never happened with any of my other cars.
