15 A8L 4.0T owner here. Most of the road noise in this car is due to the terrible stock Pirelli P Zero Nero tires. After swapping in Michelins, along with an alignment, the ride felt about 80% quieter and smoother than before
I’m looking to buy the same car you have. It has 80k miles going for 20k. How’s reliability been with your car? I’ve heard bad things about turbo oil and pcv problems costing nearly 8k.
@@Br230. I bought mine used (85k miles) with those recalls replaced, but there have been zero complaints or issues in almost a year of ownership. If you do buy this car, make sure to run the air suspension compressor at least twice a month to keep it fresh. I test drove an S Class and 750i of the same year before buying this car. The A8 has the better handling and speed than both of them and is quieter and smoother than the BMW, almost as much as the S Class. No reliability issues so far, but make sure to replace the tires to Michelins or Bridgestones for the smoothest ride
I have a 16 A8L 3.0T in this color. Picked it up CPO a year ago. It has been flawless. Such a great car. I’ve found you can cover ground carrying serious speed and attract zero attention.
You get attention you just don't notice because your enjoying the ride people do be looking... 😂 I notice people looking at my 06 . I know they looking at you 😆😆😂😂😂 I just cracked 125k on this 2006... Just can't beat the ride
@@brianmcreynolds2431 the maintenance is not too bad... Once you got everything working like it should... Transmission is good no leaks no issues.. engine wise 😂 well it's an Audi 😂... Performance is great. Just make sure you put the right gas in it... It really makes an difference.. Audi's run different on higher octane fuel... I accidentally put cheap gas in it, from BJ's and sam's club it's tries to shutdown.. better places no issues 😂 that part cost 😂
Exhaust Sports Auto Yupp bro your the best with your words straight no chaser been said hands down u have the best car reviews on utube because of your car swag 👍🏾👍🏾
I have owned the D3 A8L and D4 A8L 4.0 but have also owned the W221 S550. It all depends what you WANT out of the car. I am not sure why anyone would buy this car WANTING to FEEL the speed. That is not the design of this type of car. HOWEVER.... The M278 in the Mercedes is a superior engine throughout. The VW EC824 is pretty good and is also reliable. If you tune both cars you're getting 540 from either BUT the Mercedes will give you 715 on torque whereas the Audi will give you 590. You can also upgrade the intake on the Mercedes (M278) and REALLY hear the BOV from the exterior. Whereas upgrade options for the Audi (EC824) are very limited. You would need to do A LOT of upgrade work on the 4.0 VFSI EC824 or EC825 to unleash the dual twin-scroll turbos. The stock turbos on the Audi are better BUT are harder to unleash. On the Mercedes side you could opt to upgrade to larger turbos to increase the PSI. That is all great..but these cars are designed to be dead silent in the cabin - seems stupid to reach for those goals in THIS car. The Mercedes is quieter in the cabin. The Audi has a nicer LOOKING executive rear package but it ends with the looks. The massage is better in the rear of the Mercedes and has massage for both seats, whereas the Audi only offers massage in the rear right passenger seat for the D4 series. I typically keep the MMI screen on the Audi closed but any time you think of touching the massage buttons on the side of the seat, the display opens to manage the massage functions. That is annoying. It is also annoying to have the controls down on the side of the seat. It can be a tight fit to get your hand there after you have memorized the location of each button. Both are fantastic cars. The D4 S8 is gorgeous (not a fan of the 2015 CLI) but is it better than the W221 S63?! That is a hard sell Dash - Audi Engine - Mercedes Exterior - split decision for me Interior looks - Audi Seats - Audi Seat/Massage controls - Mercedes Rear seats - Mercedes Rear executive LOOKS - Audi Rear executive FUNCTION - Mercedes Soft close doors - Mercedes Upgrade options - Mercedes Engine modifications (Intake, ECU, etc) - Mercedes Reliability - Audi Maintenance - Audi Not a Lexus fan. The Last 7 series I liked was the E39 lol As he said in the video, you cannot go wrong with either of these cars. Just be sure to do your homework first!!!!!!!
That’s so true to me too bro I feel the same exact way I be like I bet u all these haters talking down on cars especially the Lexus ones never owned one and just hate because they don’t have one or it’s just the cool thing to do to them 😂🤣
I just bought use 2016 Audi A8 I test drove Lexus 460 , BMW 740 and the last car I looked at was the Audi A8 the car ran so smooth and the massage seats it was so quiet and had so many gadgets technology I went on and bought it😌, every time I drive the car to work. It’s a joy💯💕😌 The LED lights inside the cab I love it’s always something that you learn about this vehicle. It really is a joy and comfort on long trips or just going back-and-forth to work.
There's only two main things with Audi that I don't like and that is 1: They're part of the VW group which means shit customer service and 2: every Audi looks like every other Audi, at least to me anyway, at least with a Benz or BMW you can tell an S class from a C class or 7 from a 3, this looks like a A4 just longer, they're just too generic for me.
This is very much the flagship car with the least character lol It really doesn't inspire much and attracts zero attention, but I suppose that's a positive for some lol. I believe you said your sister purchased an A7/S7? Has she had some issues contacting Audi? I will also say this Audi is nice but a lot of what makes this car good can be had for less with vehicles like the A7, A6, A4 etc. But used this is a good bargain with how it depreciated
@@MeynMotorGroup As far as i know my sister has had no issues with her S7 but I have heard of other peoples horror stories of being fucked over by the VW group, which just makes me super cautious, TBH if I knew earlier she was getting one I would have tried really hard to talk her out of it!
@@brianmcreynolds2431 not bad, I did replace the oil filter tower seals and valve cover seals myself, but that's about it, no driveline work has been needed so far, the timing assembly will likely need to be replaced at some point but I use Pennzoil platinum only so the inside of the motor is still immaculate
Hands on With Lee The rear sunroof tilts but does not open fully like the front does. It is the perfect way to vent out the heat on a hot day. It draws all the hot air to the rear.
Just got a 2012 A8L with just 44k miles and I’m loving it. To me, it looks like a brand new car, especially after I had it paint corrected and clear coated.
Apart from the w221, i really like this a8 & it looks much better with its led headlights and it age so well vs the w221. Only thing is that the interior of the audi looks the same as the a4 or a6..maybe for some is okay but for me the w221 does look more luxurious for me imho..
If smoothness and comfort is what you're looking for then yes, if you want to really drive the cars than the others provide a nice driving dynamic. But as a whole for me, yes S class is number 1 the W222 anyway
@@MeynMotorGroup not sure if u did a review on anything from 2010-2012 s65, if so will like to review the link.. if not since it's not high demand on ur channel guessing u won't do 1?..... looking to actually to buy 1 around tax season.
I really do appreciate the subtlety of the A8's design it kind of shows how confident it is with it's luxury, same with the S-class you reveiwed. Nice video expectes nothing less
@@staphonshorter1710 That is incredible so happy to hear that. Such a gem in the used car market, so glad you took advantage of it. I hope you enjoy it for a very long time!
Interesting that you say the LS460 has more thrust than the W222 S-Class. The S-Class does 0-60 a full second better, and I found it to feel exactly like that. Any of these have adequate power anyway. Comfort is the main point. Agree about the comment on the forums, the best is whatever I own.
Yes U.S. is one of the least expensive places to be into cars and with financing and leases, cars become more obtainable here than people think but people here like to blow their money on a lot of other stuff so hard for majority of people to budget in a nicer car
Hi i have the 2015 audi a8 3.0 i havent had the road noise problem and have the pzero nero tires they are great. Thanks for the review very informative
Have you had any complications from the apr tune? I’ve read a lot of reviews about a flag warning in the cpu that can’t be removed if something happens. So the dealership won’t touch the car once they see the flag codes.
@@TB-hv2ew From my understanding they just note it in their system as you having a tune, well at least a stage 1. I think anything higher voids the warranty. But at the same time they can easily blame something on the tune. there is forums that go alil deeper into the subject.
Nice crafted vehicle no denying that but what's truly amazing is the vast difference between a 2015 & a 2020 vehicle. After watching your vid Kevin I watch a vid featuring a 2020 Cadillac CT6 Platinum & that Caddy was a clear definition of a pimp mobile! It had so much more bling & presence than the Audi that you would have thought the Audi was a much more older vehicle than it was. But who can argue when it's only $30K with 60K miles on it, that's a steal especially compared to it's original $100K sticker price. But it's just to darn conservative and I imagine would appeal to a certain demographic group of an 80 year old who doesn't want to drive anymore with one foot in the grave.
Yeah, Cadillacs are gorgeous. Ahh, the things you can do with fiberglass. Unfortunately, your info screen may go out before you get it home. GM’s QC sucks ass. I’ve owned Cadillac and Audi. Not even a comparison. I’ll never buy another GM or Chrysler product ever again.
Damn I was just looking at a charger srt or scat but I honestly don’t think if I go American I’m get my moneys worth Only thing with Audi you got to be able to maintain the Maintenance
Exhaust Sports Auto Don’t forget the Firm too bro lol speaking of which it’s a song on their with his old rap crew with AZ and Foxy Brown u will definitely enjoy the album for sure I know I do
From what I understand the 2013-2017 a8 4.0t shares the same issues as the 2013-2017 s7/s6 4.0t which is the catastrophic turbo oil screens and pcv issues which cost 10k to fix and Audi will NOT fix before the disaster happens. Basically it has to happen first then they will fix it under warranty IF you are still in warranty. If not then you’re out 10k!
Oh absolutely nothing lol not even a Honda Accord lol. If we can pay $10 a month to insure a cell phone, I think we can kick it up a bit to insure the most complicated object we will ever buy as humans 😆
@@MeynMotorGroup where i live dealerships are forced to give out 2 years warranty on powertrains and thats it , they wont give you more warranty after that unless you pay stupid money for it wich usualy will be not worthy unless you find yourself a 50k money pit that needs 5k every year on repairson that note is probably worth the 500 bucks every year. You gotta buy from very nice places if you want extended warranties on used cars ,but you going to pay for it . You guys really insure your phones? if your afraid to lose it or crack it just do it like me dont be stupid and spend fortunes on cellphones , anyways im cheap if my 200 bucks phone works its going to stay with me till his last legs :D
I owned the D4 A8 for 18 months with the 4.0T. Here are my impressions, the interior is super dated even when it came out in 2011 because its the same as the D3 which dates back to 2004, nothing wrong with that in 2011, but when its been the same for 10 years, it really showed its decade old-ness by 2014. The trunk space is the smallest of any flagship. Yeah I agree with the slightly more road noise than the S-class. Brakes were also a tad more spongy but powerful than the other flagships. Very understated car, because it looks like an A4, but also with an outdated interior. Mercedes makes all their other sdeans looks like an S-class, but Audi has made their A8 look like an A4 which is unfortunate.
Agree with Bob. Owned the D3 A8 and D4 A8 - the dash and interior are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I do not have road noise with the D4. Also, the A4 is CLEARLY based from the A8 just as the C300 is BASED on the S550.... if you do not enjoy the understated A8 look then toss the S8 body on the car. PROBLEM SOLVED ;)
